CoH - Modern Combat! "Patch 1.014" (April 17th 2013)

    Hey guys. Another update!

    This time around we have something special to show you... something that a lot of you have been asking about, and something that no decent CoH mod should be without...Maps!

    Below are six custom maps that will be included with Modern Combat when it's initially released. Our mappers have been working hard over the last couple of months to polish everything up to a professional standard.

    So without further ado:

    Dragon Valley
    - Mapper: Cephalos
    - Players: 2

    A rural expanse of rice paddies and farmland, dwarfed by lush mountains and encircled by thick vegetation.



    Juchao
    - Mapper: Spanky
    - Players: 2

    Adjacent to a hydroelectric dam and power plant, the entire battlefield is divided by a immense dry riverbed.




    Senlin Lukou
    - Mapper: OnkelSam
    - Players: 2

    Set in a heavily-wooded swamp, players must slog their way to victory along a single winding dirt road.




    Yangxin
    - Mapper: MonkeySoldier
    - Players: 2

    A small rural community surrounded by scenic pines and rivers, and spanned by a strategically important railway route.




    Zhouding
    - Mapper: Beagletank
    - Players: 2

    An invaded industrial town located along China's southern coast, the region has been the target of numerous aerial and naval strikes.



    Highway 303
    - Mapper: Beagletank
    - Players: 4

    Once a major traffic hub, this war-torn highway has long been abandoned to the surrounding desert.




    Pacific Outpost
    - Mapper: OnkelSam
    - Players: 4

    A total conversion of the vCoH map Point du Hoc, the island is an important P.L.A. Pacific outpost, and an potential U.S. staging point.

    Most of them have chock points in the middle, however there are opportunities to flank along the sides of the map

    Sorry i mustn't have noticed but i was thinking a "sea" of tank traps and mines which could be hostile to both sides but clear able(if that is even possible) but with a gap in the middle where tanks can actually get past at first. or something like that just an idea.

    We know we promissed you a self-installer, but unfortunately we have run into problems on short notice! Instead you have to do the initial installation of CoH: Modern Combat using a selfextractor. Once you have done that you will use the mod using our custom launcher, which will then take care of any updates in the future, as promised. We'll explain you in detail how to do everything, its pretty easy.

    During the next days we will present a solution that makes it easier for people who have trouble to install it this way.

    Step 0)
    Make sure your Company of Heroes client and your .NET Framework are up to date!

    Step 1)
    Download the selfextractor using the link provided, and save it anywhere on your computer.
    DOWNLOAD from moddb
    DOWNLOAD via torrent

    Step 2)
    Run the downloaded ModernCombat.exe as an Administrator. If you aren't sure whether or not you have administrator rights on your PC, you can forcibly run the program as an administrator by right-clicking on the file and clicking "Run as administrator".


    Step 3)
    A new window will pop up, asking you where to extract the files to. You will have to choose the Company of heroes installation root folder.
    For steam installations this usually is:
    "C:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes".
    For regular installations this usually is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Company of Heroes"



    Confirm to overwrite "LuaExtCore.dll" and "lua-io.dll" if they already exist!

    Step 4)
    Once you extracted all the files you will find the Modern Combat launcher under "....\Company of Heroes\Modern Combat\ModernCombat.exe". This also has to be run as administrator! Create shortcuts if you want (rightclick on ModernCombat.exe->send to->Desktop)
    Make sure that your firewall doesn't block the launcher!


    Step 5) (optional)
    If you run into trouble while installing the mod you can consult us by creating a post in our Technical Support forum. We'll need some basic information to be able to help you. Please post the contents of your launcher.log ("...\Company Of Heroes\ModernCombat\launcher.log") and your system specifications in the following format:

    Operating System: e.g. Windows 7 Professional 64bit
    Did you buy CoH on Steam?: yes/no
    CoH Installation directory: e.g. "C:\Program Files\Company Of Heroes"
    Which versions of CoH are installed (multiple answers allowed): original CoH/Opposing Fronts/Tales of Valor/CoH Gold Edition
    ---------------
    Patching
    ---------------

    Step 1)
    The launcher will automatically check whether updates are available every time you start it up. In that case a popup will appear notifying you that a download is available. Choose the download server and click OK. The initial


    Step 2)

    Once the download is complete it will install itself automatically. A popup will appear notifying you that the patch has installed correctly and that you're ready to play online. Hit the Start button in the bottom right corner in order to run the mod.

    check your most recent one and tell me what is causing the error.

    Somebody posted on ModDB it is because you are not running with Admin rights

    Thank You. I've been looking forward to this mod for some time. Downloading it now, however, do have a question. According to your installation guide the install process overwrites LuaExtCore.dll and lua-io.dll and I'd like to know if this will affect the vanilla game or any other mods? I have around 40 mods on my system, though a couple aren't 2.602 compatable, and would like to continue using them. Thanks again.
