Absolutely brilliant trailer! I especially liked that tank from the video. Again, absolutely stunning!

Amazing, I like the A-10 strike, what PLA aircraft is there going to be?

  3. #53
    Hi ,

The Trailer looks good , I liked the tank , I dont have a good grid , But, the wheels of the HUMV looked a bit distroted .

the wheels of the HMMVW looked a bit distroted .
The wheels got updated after that the scene got recorded. They turn, like they should now, similar to the US Jeep.

    Huetti07,

We haven't layed down doctrine's so far. However, we could always use suggestions for doctrine's, so if you have any, post ahead!

Looking pretty good, but imo, the skins are too 'clean', so it looks like plastic.

You can find all our previous Press Release picture's here, together with movies and in-game shots.

    Timbab,

As of now our priority is to get everything modeled, UV'ed, and skinned. Things like scratches and dirt can always be added later on, if the DEV team agree's that they are too clean. However, that certainly doesn't mean that no/ barely any details have been added to the skins, because they are all high quality.

-----------Quick update #1 + community poll
Yes, this is right. Less than a week after the last big update, we already present you more footage. We stand by our word and release content on a smaller timescale than in the past. You definately want to check our site for updates more often!

This time we present some more ingame screenshots. They are taken from CoH: MC - Trailer 1 and should give you the possibility to have a closer look. Enjoy =)

In addition we would like to hear your oppinion in our community poll. The question this time is "What faction are you excited about the most?". Please vote and give us a reason, to give us an impression of what you like and what not.

    See you on the forums.

I think I can think of something for Doctrines....but iv only played up to Opposing Front, not the new one so I dont know if they changed the doctrine system
    AKA Sad_eyed_Irony!!

  21. #71
Doctrine trees still work the same, only additional change is access to more ability choices through the trees using TOV's campaign trees. At present we are staying with the typical COH 3 Doctrine choice, which comes with the standard 2 column. You are very welcomed too and we also encourage people to post there ideas, we always like feedback and the ideas from others. You can either post here or on our own Homepage (links available on page 1)

    Hello and welcome!

This is our first monthly overview of the Company of Heroes Modern Combat mod. This overview, which will be published every last Saturday of the month, will sum up all the info and media released that particular month, and might also include some new media, as it happens to be the case with this overview. We’re doing this, because we can’t plan in press releases exactly on time, nor do we want to make you guys and girls wait any longer if a press release is ready. Therefore, you know from now on when to exactly expect a summary of last month, which contains media and/ or info you happened to miss that particular month.

First of all, we're introducing several new developers of our team.
We start out with Porta, who will be assisting us with mapping. Porta is an experienced mapper, and some of his work can already been seen in the mod Eastern Front, while another one is in the works for Operation Market Garden.

Next up is Copernicus, an experienced coder, and has been active in the modding community for Company of Heroes since late 2006. Copernicus will help us speed up the coding progress, and is therefore a big help to everybody.

And last, but certainly not least, we welcome JcChase520. JcChase520 has experience with SCAR coding, and will be also be able to help out with the Object Editor, and other Relic tools that are required for implanting new models in the mod.

This month we were also able to get a homepage up! Many thanks and praises to Guedoe, the BlackSand Studio Admin, and to Sven, who did all the coding for our homepage. Visit our new homepage. Of course, with a new homepage also comes a new forum. The homepage opens up new possibilities for us, which includes more frequent updates for you, the public. You can also find all of the published content, which includes pictures, screenshots and movies! We are all working hard to get as much content out for our fans, so be sure to keep an eye out for our homepage. Our new forum has replaced our old forum, so if you got any questions, comments or anything else, feel free to post it on the forum.

The other big news this month was the release of an actual in-game trailer, which contains several new units with all their skins, animations and effects. The trailer can be found on our site, in the movie’s section. If you haven’t seen the video yet, be sure to see it when you got the time for it.

And just five days after all this news, we had another quick info post ready for you. The update contains high quality screenshots from the trailer, which gives you the opportunity to check out every detail of the new models introduced in the trailer. All of this, can be found here. But we’re still not done yet, we also have a community poll, which gives you the opportunity to vote and talk about your favorite faction. Be sure to fill it in, and share your vision with fellow forum members.

As to spoil you boys and girls for the lack of proper press release's, we got more in-game content for you! This time we got two new models to show.
We start out with the M106A3 mortar carrier. The M106A3 will provide mobile mortar support to our U.S. faction. The mortar carrier has the same purpose as the Panzer Elite mortar carrier; provide mobile mortar support.

Up next we got the M2A3 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The Bradley is a versatile unit, because it packs a good punch with it's 25mm chain gun. Furthermore, the Bradley can be upgraded with TOW missiles, adding anti-tank capability. In the pictures below, you can see our Bradley in action on the battlefield.

that will take months, to eventually years, i think

  25. #75
This will indeed still take some time. However, we don't know when it's finished.

  26. #76
Monkey said it already, it will still take some time and we don't want to restrict us to a specific date.
However just to relativate time, we are working on this for 2 years already, so quite some things are done already!

Welcome to our second monthly overview!

As promised the last time, we will keep on releasing monthly reviews every last Saturday of the month. We haven't released any media yet this month, although we our modelers and skinners have been working around the clock. The result of their hard work can be seen later on in this overview. We're going to start of with the introduction of several new team members, who will be assisting us further into developing our mod.

Serran joined the team as a 2D and a 3D artist, who's work will be seen later on. It's fair to say Serran has enough talent and skill to stun both the public as the developers themselves.

The next person on our list, is Doombringer a 2D artist who will provide in-game artwork, such as icons and interface buttons. Doombringer is already well-known in the German modding community, and he is also known for his work in the Blitzkrieg and Battle of the Bulge mods.

WartyX has also joined the team as a 2D artist, and will be working side-to-side with Doombringer. WartyX is also known for his in-game artwork in the Eastern Front mod.

Last up is DannyHavok, who is a skilled 2D and 3D artist. DannyHavok has three years of experience with Maya, and has already proven himself with his phenomenal 2D and 3D skills.

Let's give them all a warm and kind welcome!

Of course, we also got eye candy to show to our public. Starting out with a reskin of one of the smaller, if not the smallest, vehicle in the Modern Combat mod, the All-Terrain Vehicle. This vehicle will function like the Kettenrad in the original Company of Heroes, although it's equipped with a weak machine gun for limited self-defense purposes.

Our second vehicle packs a lot more firepower then the ATV. The M109 'Paladin' 155mm howitzer, is an armored self propelled howitzer, comparable to the Commonwealth M7 Priest in the original Company of Heroes.

That's it for this overview, thank you for reading and stay tuned on moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com !

skins may look dark due to the lightening and the dark background. Don't worry brightness can be easily adjusted once ingame

Also as I said before the Bradley looks heavily underdetailed, especialy at the turret, hull top, sides, back.

  32. #82
We acknowledge that several things are incorrect on the Bradley, however, we keep on developing, and have a look at incorrect models later on. Otherwise we would be delaying the development of the mod itself.

  35. #85
the tracks on the paladin are not skinned, cause we use a universal skin for them. The rest like turret etc is finished however...

We will probably not have the Bustal Ammo Storage. The fattening of the gun can be applied without a problem and the hatch may become additions we incorporate.

We are going for something like this:

    Ok,I have a question now.
Will the buildings in this mod be totally changed?or you just change their skins?

Welcome back to our third monthly overview!

We have a lot of in-game content to show to you this time, but we're starting out by welcoming another team member.

Wiseone9 will be joining our team as a coder, and is already well-known in multiple Company of Heroes communities. He's been working on modifications like the Specialized Production Mod and the Company of Heroes: World at War mod. Let's give him all a warm welcome!

Next up are the in-game screenshots. Our mod is still a Work In Progress, so you have to keep in mind that not everything is finished yet.

First of all we have the Soldiers to show. The Soldiers are the backbone of the PLA, and are much like the grenadiers. Although having less men in their squad than the Militia, they do have better assault rifles compared with the Militia. The Soldiers can easily be distinguished by their Type 07 camouflage, which is the latest digital camouflage to have entered the PLA. The Soldiers represent the modern day and well-equipped troops from the elite divisions of the People's Liberation Army. They use the QBZ-95 with a scope.

Next up is the Rocket Launcher Team. The Rocket Launcher Team will provide mobile and flexible support against armoured vehicles from the U.S. Army. The squad exists out of three men, two of which are equipped with the Type 69, a Chinese version from the RPG-7. The other soldier is equipped with the Type 56 assault rifle, which is a Chinese version of the AK-47. This squad is ideally suited for hit and run tactics against armoured vehicles, but they cannot stand up against infantry squads.

The Militia squad is much like the Volksgrenadiers. They are cheap, reliable and provide reasonable amount of firepower. Militia squads are equipped with the Type 56 assault rifle, and wear the Type 03 'Plateau' camouflage, which is strongly influenced by the Flecktarn camouflage worn by the German Army. The brown and black camouflage is quite effective in swamps and muddy environments.

Last but not least, we have the builder squad. The squad is much like the Engineers in the original Company of Heroes. They can be upgraded with a flamethrower and the squad consist out of three men. Armed with a QBZ-95 assault rifle, just as the Soldiers, and are the primary builders of the People's Liberation Army. Their camouflage is the Type 99 woodland camouflage, which is similar to the former U.S. Army woodland camouflage, with the most notable difference is the use of an extra tint of green instead of khaki in the pattern.

Many thanks to DemoSS for creating the skins, his hard work has payed off, as you can see in the screenshots.

If you are curious about the lay-out of our factions, you can find the PLA lay-out here and the U.S. Army lay-out here. Don't forget to drop by on our forums, where you can ask questions and discuss the mod.

With that, we would like to close this monthly overview, and we hope you enjoyed the eye candy. Thank you, and you see on moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com

Nice, though the weapons look kinda strange compared to the surroundings and the soldiers, the weapons look kinda toy-ish. Also what weapon anim do you use on bulpups? Also the soldiers look way to old style, maybe make the modern helmets or some more equipment, but the skins look good, also I know how much work is that, but still, could look better.

sub_machine_gun. Same as all other weapons in CoH. It just doesn't use the reload animation.

not sure about them looking toyish/cartoony... they seem pretty deadly when moving around and fx/sfx incorporated.

Maybe use Thompson anims? if you can resize the weapons to fit it, you get a pretty decent bulpup.

sub_machine_gun anims are the Thompson's anims. The custom reload animation needs to be added to make it work perfctly, other than that its fine.

The units are not in an 'old style' that is actually how the PLA troops look. Accessories can be added later for visuals, but we want to get everything setup first then we can tweak and make it dazzle
