They look fantastic! Absolutely outstanding. M1a2 Abrams is the best. I am not a huge fan of the greenish color on the other 2 tanks.

the greenish colour is taken from reference pictures though. it's how they look like in reality
The ZTZ-99 uses the new digital camoflague to seperate it from the Type 96
The other PLA units will use the conventional green camoflague
![]()
the type 96MBT,and the other units(except the CAPF units) also use this new digital camoflague in the parade of 2009.10.1
this photograph was took in the rehearsal.
yeah we know, but we only wanted to use it for the ZTZ-99 to make it special.
Saukopf,
The ZTZ 96 and ZTZ 99 are somewhat harder to distinguish, therefore we decided to give the ZTZ 99 digital camouflage and also to emphasize that the ZTZ 99 is a more special tank.

Very nice! Looks like the mod is getting closer and closer to release!

Here we are again, with some new highlights of our progress. The month has been busy and successful again, so we have got plenty of stuff to show. One big achievement is the successful implementation of custom infantry models. So, finally we are able to import our US-Soldier, including all the necessary equipment. You may not know how much effort Darkbladecr has gone into this (animation, rigging, etc.), but let me tell you that this is nothing less than another milestone in our development! At this point we also want to thank Michael Taylor (mike@cyrid.com) for providing us with the US Soldier model. Some of the infantry skins are still to be done, but we don't want to leave you without at least a first impression of it. Just take a look at the crew of the M106A3 Mortar Tank. Except the bare head, the whole model is new, with proper body armor, helmet, comunication, etc. This enables us to create infantry as we need it, completely without model mixing, which harms performance.
Now you say, "M106A3 Mortart Tank? Did i see that ingame already?". No you didn't, it's one more vehicle that has been properly imported and animated in the meanwhile. The same counts for the Type 59d Main Battle Tank, the Type 89 Tank Destroyer and the ZBD2000. They are all completely functional ingame by now. Here are some more pictures of them in action.
If you don't know where you can find these units in the faction layout yet, or you want more information about the mod, we suggest you to have a look at our homepage. Also make sure to drop a comment on our forums. See you on moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com.

Never like the way the mortar m113 looked, but everything else looks damn fine, the crew looks nice and modern, just their in desert camo, should be acu or multicam.
i already stated in the newspost, that the other variants are not ready yet. This is basicly just a teaser. The final skins will use ACU and multicam, as you suggest. DemoSS is already on it.

@Celestial
Didnt like the m113 from the first render, looked to round for m113, toyish, soft edges, while m113 is basicly a box, without much on it.

Very nice update guys! I'm always excited to read your monthly overviews, keep it up![]()
Very nice work!
Yay! More progress! I am really looking forward to the release of this new mod. Looking at how fast it's moving, I think it will be out soon.
instead of the stryker, how about you use the stingray light tank? although it is not used by the US, i think u guys should add it, will make the game more balance (RL wise)

Arbituh101,
Despite we don't have realistic in-game values for our units (1 shot 1 kill), but a more balanced way, we do use authentic vehicles/ weapons used by the U.S. Army. And seeing that the Stingray was only a competitor, which lost, and the winner of that project got cancelled in favor of the Stryker ICV, which we have in-game. So I don't see why we should use it in favor of the Stryker, as the Stryker MGS is also equipped with a 105mm cannon, and did saw actual combat in Iraq.![]()
ya but it would be cool to have it, say for a reward unit, you know, just for fun
It's the last saturday in September 2010, the time for our next monthly review.
Before we start to talk about the mod, we want to epxress our condolences to the family of Brian Wood, Relics Lead Designer of Company of Heroes Online and CoH - Tales of Valor. Brian Wood was killed in a car accident on September 3rd 2010. More information on Relic.com. Our whole mod team is extremely saddend by this loss!
Back to CoH: Modern Combat! Work has been done on many fronts so that we have plenty of stuff to show for you again. First thing to notice is: The factions Battle Cruisers are ingame! Both the M1A2 Abrams and the ZTZ-99 are fully animated and imported. Here are some screenshots of them in action!
The next vehicle was only mentioned in our faction layout, without any renders being shown, yet. This has a reason. Our staff member Chopin has been going through all the stages of modeling, UV-mapping and texturing during the last few weeks. But not enough, tiger205 with the help of Darkbladecr has already animated and imported this beast into our mod! So here it is, the PGZ-95 anti-air gun-system with it's 4 x 25 mm autocannon and 4 x QW-2 SAM rockets!
Now, if you are impressed already, watch out for another tool of desctruction that has never been shown, yet.The model was once again done by Chopin, while the UV-Map and texture this time were created by KnightOfAmmo, who should be known for the numerous textures that he has provided for CoH: Modern Combat already. The vehicle i am talking about is the PHZ-89 Multi-Rocket-Launcher-System. Here are some ingame pictures for you!
Last but not least we want to show you the first version of the ZSD-89, which will be available to the PLA as several different variants. You'll see more pictures of it, including the different variants in one of our future press releases.
As always, we appreciate all kind of feedback, preferable on our forums. See you on moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com
Nice models!

Looks like bf2 in Coh, cant wait to play it
Hello CoH: Modern Combat fans.
It is time for tanks in action. Today we present you the CoH: Modern Combat - ingame trailer 3, featuring an intense tank battle between some of the most powerful units in the mod. Is it going to be the battle proven M1A2 Abrams that is going to win, will it be the fancy new ZTZ99 or does the 51-year old Type 59D still pack a good punch compared to todays modern battle tanks? Start the video to find out!
CoH: Modern Combat ingame trailer 3
Thank you for watching, and be sure to leave feedback on our forums. See you on moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com
Abrams should have won ;P
Btw, will they have accurate engine sounds? The abrams as you probably know has turbine engines so it sounds like a jet.
Very nice trailer
#178
We will be using custom sounds, although keep in mind that the balance and graphical structure of the mod is what is most important at the moment. Only once the main product is completed can we start to spend more time on other non-essential attributes such as sound.
We're back as usual with an overview of the last month. Let me start with the introduction of some new staff members, who will hopefully speed up our development even further! I_am_a_Spoon (USC editing), Spanky (Level Designer), Cryloud (3d Artist), Lethal Dosage (Coding), and Kolaris (Coding).
I_am_a_Spoon will help editing all the USC entries, so that all units and abilities will have an accurate description. Spanky will create maps in a modern environment. Cryloud will work on creating the few last models that we need for the faction layout and then start supporting our mappers with environmental assets. Lethal Dosage and Kolaris will work hand in hand with Firesparkz on the coding front. Fixing bugs and especially work on balanceing the mod will be their prime tasks.
Now, we don't want to leave you without showing some more of our content. One thing you didn't see so far is the Remmington R870 Shotgun, which will be available as an upgrade for combat engineers.
The ZZC-02 is a variation of the ZSD89, but it will only be available to commanders of the Asymmetric Warfare doctrine. It allows for some advanced scouting and even further detection of enemy troops.
The US military would miss an essential part without their powerful air force! So, here you see some of it. The Little Bird recon helicopter and the AH64 attack helicopter. Both will be available as part of the Air Dominance doctrine.
And last but not least, we want to show you some revisions. "Revisions?" you ask? Yes, that's right. You can extract two things out of it. First of all, we are aiming for a high quality standart. Only the best is good enough for our community! And second, we have almost finished the development of models and skins for the two factions, so our 2D and 3D artists have time to revise some of the older content.
Here are the revised versions of the US HMMWV multipurpose vehicle and the PLA ZBD2000 infantry fighting vehicle. We hope you like their new shape!
As always, we appreciate your feedback on http://moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com. Watch out for future releases!
As a thank you to those of you, who voted us into the Top 100 of the moddb Mod of the year 2010 awards ! The next goal is Top 10 =)
The US Little Bird recon helicopter
![]()
are you going to add any air droppable units like paratroopers or maybe even the sherridan?
Yes, we have an "Air Assault Force" as part of the "Air Dominance Doctrine". It consists of a Airbourne squad, deployed by a Blackhawk and of an airdroped Stryker MGS.
For further information i suggest you to have a look at http://moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com There you can find a graphical outline of our mod!
Merry Christmas to all of you!
Christmas would be boring without some presents, wouldn't it? The CoH: Modern Combat crew didn't forget its followers, so here we are with a present for you! You requested it several times, so we thought christmas would be the right time to satisfy some wishes.
In the following we want to show you some of the infantry units that will be available to the US Forces. Once again we want to give out a thank you to Michael Taylor (mike@cryrid.com), who provided us with the basic infantry model and a canadian texture as a role model for our US infantry skins.
However, the following pictures still show work in progress. The rigging is not finished yet, so you might see som stretching in some parts, and some units are still missing parts of their equipment.
We start with the US Combat Engineers. By default they are equiped with M16 assault rifles, but you have the option to be upgraded them with Remington R870 shotguns.
![]()
Riflemen with their M4 assault rifles are the backbone of the US infantry forces. They are extremely versatile, because of their various upgrades, like M203 grenade launchers, M249 SAW, AT4, grenades, etc. Here we show you just some selected examples.
![]()
If the situation is difficult, elite squads are required to step in and do their job. By picking the right doctrine you will be able to deploy Airborne squads (left) or Green Barrets (right). Both of them have special upgrades and abilities, which will help you on the battlefield.
While most of the US infantry equipment uses ACU digital camoflague variants, the Green Barrets are already equiped with the new multicam camoflague.
![]()
Last but not least, we want to announce a unit, which has not been mentioned in the US layout, yet. The US Commanders have realized that reconnaissance is not enough to deal with the PLA's invisible killers. So they are fielding their own, the sniper! In this regard we want to thank DemoSS for providing us with the ghille suite attachments.
The Sniper will be equiped with a M24 sniper rifle and will be available in tier 2.
Now, i guess you think: "We have seen so much ingame content over the past months, how much more is there about to come?! They need to finish at some point." Yes, you are right! Nevertheless, please understand that a project like this requires an extreme amount of work on many fronts. Not everything might be visible to our followers immediately. Thus, we still cannot give you a fixed release date.
But, our development has reached the Alpha testing phase! This means, we have invited a very limited number of CoH experts, who are playtesting the core of our mod for bugs and balance. We are very happy that we have reached this phase in the development!
So, don't nail us on a fixed date, it'll not be within the next few months, but we promise: Next year we will meet on the chinese battlefield in Company of Heroes: Modern Combat!
Until then, keep on supporting us with your feedback and stay tuned on http://moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Quite awesome infantry stuff you got there Sam. I like the equipment a lot, it adds a cool touch for detail.
Looks alright, but not different enuf to see which unit is which when playing, the only difference from airborne and green berets I see that berets have mp5.
Aidas2,
Airborne uses the current ACU pattern, while Green Berets use multicam. There is quite a big difference both colour and pattern wise between those two.
Well, it shows that multicam works well then.![]()
We're always open to suggestions though, feel free to post them if you have your doubts.![]()
It's the end of the month and we're back with another preview for CoH: Modern Combat! As we announced in our last Christmas special, we've been busy in the alpha progress of our mod. This means we've spend a lot of our resources on balance and bug fixing. As a result the amount of new content is not as huge as usual, but we hope you still enjoy what we have to show.
Not long ago we've shown you the first of our revisions, the new Humvee. This time we have another unit that has been completely revamped to meet our high quality standards, the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle! Look at these ingame shots to judge yourself.
![]()
The next unit is no revision, but brand new, the PLA Type 86 AT-Gun! Modeled by Ulisehx and textured by Chopin, this unit has been the first animation job for our new member RoebenX! Let this beautiful piece of teamwork be just the first, but not the last of his contributions to our mod!
While the Type 86 AT-Gun will certainly be a serious threat for US vehicles, the US Forces have their own tools to put fear on chinese tank comanders faces. One of them will be the static TOW emplacement. The model and skin of the weapon have just been finished recently. Ingame it will be enbedded into a defensive emplacement structure.
While the content for our factions is almost complete, we have already started to work on the environmental content of our mod! These objects will be used on our maps to give them the right feeling of present day China.
![]()
![]()
That's it for today. As always we appreciate any feedback on our forums. See you on moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com!
the new objects look fantastic.
i m looking forward to see more civil and industrial building

Fantasic work dude! My compliments to your textures and modellers.
yep amazing ... can't wait to play !!!!!!!!!
Downright amazing, great progress. Can not wait to play![]()
Hi guys!
It's our "time of the month" again, and we have another fantastic trailer on-hand for all you loyal fans out there!
This time around, we've decided to provide you with some gameplay footage, rather than take a purely-cinematic approach. After all the recent work that's gone into balancing our mod, we want to offer a look at what we've created thus far from a player's perspective, and at the same time, demonstrate some of the special units and features that make CoH: Modern Combat unique.
We also want to take this opportunity to familiarise the community with two P.L.A. vehicles which, whilst important in their own right, might not be as famous or as familiar to newcomers as a unit like the instantly-recognisable M1A2 Abrams: the ZZC02 Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle and the PGZ95 Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft Vehicle, both of which are featured in the trailer.
Anyway, enough rambling; you're all here for the good stuff. So without further ado, the trailer!
Helicopter crashes, infantry firefights, tank battles, ambushes, rocket barrages, some sniping action... what's not to like?

See you on http://moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com !

Looks cool, but I kinda find your UI icons... ugly.
Very Impressive, great work so far.
#198
Hmm maybe because its low quality in the movie, but from the page we have with all the icons I actually like them...Looks cool, but I kinda find your UI icons... ugly.
#199
Great lilbird crash animation! Abrams with Tusk looks great aswell. Can't wait for the release and try them out. And the icons look bad because of the small resolution, they look great when full size.
