One thing at a time, they are actually keeping us updated on the issues and fixing them as soon as they are brought to their attention. Game has only been out for a month today, give them some time.

I dont see the FC or any of the other bubbleboy commanders imbalanced at all.

I remember a Relic dev stating in an interview that he was so excited about their new patching process. It allows them to make hotfixes in a day instead of in a month. I guess he was joking.

The current patch isn't a "hotfix" data-only patch. It requires Games for Windows LIVE certification. If you'll recall, Relic have already put out several patches rather quickly after fixing a few early problems. How soon they forget...

main balance issue is not FC bubbleboy, but Tyranid race as a whole.

    pls tell me you're joking....

EVERYONE knows that lolhammer bubble boy FC is very overpowered.. (a melee weapon that deals immense damage and AoE, and being able to take shitt loads of damage itself due to bubble)

when was the last time you won a game using warpspider exarch playing against someone your own skill??

main balance issue is not FC bubbleboy, but Tyranid race as a whole.
    and also Tactical spam...

If you think that lolhammer bubble boy FC shit is not OP, then you are lying to yourself, or just another one of its addicts. It allows the SM to rage large battles with no losses, once the bubble burst after tons of damage, he just retreats him. I think the bubble has to be able to receive damage normally, because it has a funny way to calculating incoming damage.

That and nids have to fixed, and if nids are fixed, then the damage on plasma and D-cannons needs to be reduced a little, because they wipe out whole armies.

shields just need to block 50% of damage. fixed.

dont expect a balance patch for a while. they said they havent even looked at it until they fixed the popcap bug so they could get accurate results.

As for DLC, dont expect that stuff soon either. they said they would be releasing info right after release and now we are a month later and nothing.

But he's incredibly slow, he's only got 1 ability to help his squad mates. I actually don't even bother with him first, much like the hive tyrant, kill the weaker units and just move away from him if he gets too close to units that can't take a hammering. Use energy draining weapons maybe.

Nids could use a bit of tweaking, but I'm finding it easier and easier to deal with them. Even the ravener, well placed grenades, and AOE weapons, kill of any syanpses creatures and the tunnel turns into a grave.

Plasma devs and D-cannons, and fire frisims are just bad for people that cluster their units. In any kind of game you should never cluster your units if possible , tyranids almost have no choice, so thats one set of weapons that are perfect counters to the swarm. And the other races have lots of ways of countering such weak platforms/vehcies, the primary one is scouting with a scout unit or your commander. This isn't C & C or starcraft you units can be wiped out in seconds if you let them, thats why there are less of them so you can focus on them more. COH had some of this, but with the ridiculous setting the brutality gets upped.

There are things that might need to be tweaked, but a lot of what I find people have a problem with is the different style of gameplay, and assume it's the games fault for not transitioning their RTS skills from other games. If you've played ground control, world in conflict, or even warcraft3/DOTA then this game might be a bit more natural.

SLOW>? Have you considered the increased speed charge armor?

I am talking about high level TS, where the minor imbalance is exploited to give the advantage, it gets really nasty.

Probably is, they just haven't come back from their Hawaii holiday and may well be lying on the beach as we speak

there is nothing wrong with wanting new maps when you only have a few to pick from.

oh and the ones you do have happen to have serious balance gameplay flaws.

When it comes to patching speed, it used to be that patches came out super-slow because Relic was sucking at making patches (for whatever reason).

Now, supposedly, we've got this awesome new system that allows Relic to just whip patches out like there's no tomorrow, but layered on that is the brand-new GFWL certification process that slows everything to a crawl.

Looks to me like the only difference is how far the blame buck gets passed. To us, however, it's still waiting on patches, exactly like before.

Knowing Relic, I would expect 2-3 months from release, minimum.

  19. #19
Why would you want relic to try and balance anything? They suck at balance... get them to fix bugs.. the mod community can fix balance

mod community can't do anything though, game is pretty much locked down isnt it

  22. #22
So much for Relic's new patching process amirite?

  23. #23
IIRC There is two types of patches. First the data fixes, don't reqiure GFWL certification (And we were delivered such fixes) and code fixes that have to pass GFWL certification. If you would acctulay read you would probably know that all past fixes was data exclusive. And now code patch is being tested by GFWL to assure it don't screw something in thier NAT.

    Oh noes!

  24. #24
Yes. We know, and balance patches are data fixes.

The patch is finished when it's finished. We've had quite a few already. Just again they didn't include what some people wanted (like the full game) therefore Relic sucks and the game is a complete pile of shite.

The patch will come out when you stop expecting ti to

zonehack you might be new here, but these threads really accomplish nothing aside from people taking pot shots at relic and the patch cycle and making extra work for the poor moderators who have to lock it.

    We just don't know.

And judging from this thread, there is little to no hope of any discussion coming from this topic so I will be closing this thread.
