    Yess!! Found a way for Mods to be used in the TOV campaigns

    Ok, this assumes you have already:

    1.) Updated the modified date of your mod files or their values won't be used: A 5-10 minute solution is here - http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=220478

    2.) You have correctly updated your .module file and changed your desktop icon short cut from -modname to -mod: The solution for that is here: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=220156
    and here: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=221515

    But it is essentially taking the relicgame.module and comparing it to your modname.module file and making the correct adjustements from WW2 to COH for certain file headers like this:

    Before:
    ==========
    [locale:English]
    folder.01 = WW2\Locale\English
    folder.02 = Engine\Locale\English
    folder.03 = RelicOnline\Locale\English

    After:
    ==========
    [locale:English]
    folder.01 = CoH\Locale\English
    folder.02 = CoH\Engine\Locale\English
    folder.03 = RelicOnline\Locale\English

    For sound to work in the Mod, you will need to make this modification to your .module file:

    Before:
    --------
    SpeechManagerCache = SpeechManagerWW2.cache

    After:
    --------
    SpeechManagerCache = SpeechManagerCOH.cache

    Getting Your Mod To Be Seen In the New Expansions
    ==========================================
    CF_NZ had the brilliant idea of comparing Relic's .module files to our .module files and adding the changes where appropriate. That was the clue I needed to extrapolate how to get the campaign files to be "seen" by our mods.

    There are 4 new Relic .module files: RelicDC1.module, RelicDC2.module, RelicDC3.module, and RelicOps.module. Looking into those files shows what we need to append to our own Mod's .module files.

    April 16th, 2009 Update:
    ====================
    A big thanks to Lethal Dosage who came up with a far superior (and simpler method) to the previous approach:

    Improved Method:
    -------------------------
    Notice that there are 4 new .module files in the root of your Company of Heroes game folder: RelicDLC1.module, RelicDLC2.module, RelicDL3.module, and RelicOps.module.

    Step #1.) - Copy these 4 .module files and paste them in the root of your folder, and rename them to something that ties them to your mod (My mod is named Rebalance, so I named them to RebalanceDLC1.module, RebalanceDLC2.module, RebalanceDLC3.module, and RebalanceOps.module, etc.) This is not technially required, but it will help you remember why these extra copies are there, and to help you remember to also select them when you zip up your Mod to upload to your friends, etc.

    Step #2.) - The important one. Open each of these new .module copies you just made in Step #1 above, and in the [global] section find the line that say Parent=RelicCOH and change "RelicCOH" to whatever your mod's name is. My mod's actual <modname>.module file is called Rebalance.mod, so I edited Parent = RelicCOH to Parent = Rebalance.

    This will link the copies of the DLC stuff directly to your mod the same way they would link to the RelicCOH one, without any additional entries being needed in the 'parent' module.

    Example:
    =========

    Before:
    --------
    [global]
    Parent = RelicCOH

    After:
    -------
    [global]
    Parent = Rebalance (or whatever your mod's <modname>.module file is.)

    Remember, we're all crawling around in the dark since Relic does not appear to proactively share changes with the Mod community like Bethsoft does for Oblivion and Fallout3 - So if we or others miss something that's because we trying to figure it out too..
    Regards,
    Koinonos

    the problem is that Relic have moved the relic ucs file to Coh\Engine\Locale\English

    so paste this over your modules locale

    [locale:English]
    folder.01 = WW2\Locale\English
    folder.02 = CoH\Engine\Locale\English
    folder.03 = RelicOnline\Locale\English

    Thanks maybe??!!

    Multiplayer works without this

    This thread was to show how to get mods recognized for the TOV single player campaigns should you wish to use a mod in them.

    Multiplayer does not require this (it did not for my mod).

    Multiplayer requires these:
    ======================
    http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=220156 - To get the desired MOD's .module file correctly set and the icon shortcut

    http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=220478 - The value changes in a MOD will not be used unless the Modified date is April 1, 2009 or more recent.

    @ Koinonos, I added the files you described above to my module, and I can host a map now with crashing to desktop.

    Thanks!

    @ xtreme,

    I am seeing a similar thing with my mod where if I use Koinonos's alternations, I do not have sound/speech with my units. Have you figured out a way to counter this?

    Koinonos, I noticed that Causeway is locked meaning you haven't bought Tales of Valor to be able to unlock it. Is this method a way around that process?

    I follow his advise and I finaly make my skin mod to work .All are Ok mix models skins everything . To fix the problem with sound you must have a module similar like this
    Code:

    I think you are missing your new lines in that, makes it hard to understand, if you could fix that it would be much appreciated

  15. #15
    Thanks Geo for the help. I will go try that out later today.

    Just to clarify though, as your .module content is written in just a linear line, I gather your mod name is WAFFEN_SS and the additions you made are mostly adding DLC1 and such? I can see some differences from my current .module and what you have written down (in terms of adding in say a data:english line and a DLC command but other than that, am I missing anything?

  16. #16

    To make the sound work you need to include this

    How To Fix No Sound:
    ----------------------
    Before:
    =========
    SpeechManagerCache = SpeechManagerWW2.cache

    After:
    ==========
    SpeechManagerCache = SpeechManagerCOH.cache

    To Akranadas: I have purchased TOV, but my example simply showed only adding the DLC1 lines, when I contined to add the DLC2 and DLC3 lines they are allowed to be selected running my mod as well.

    To Ramfantasic Regarding crashing: Most likely the mod you are using either has Warnstaffs' AI mod in in, or there are AI and SCAR folders in the <modname>\Data folder that need to be renamed. As of this time the AI schema changes will cause previous SCAR coding - especially around AI rountines to crash. Until Warnstaff or other's figure out how to code with the new attributes and schema do what I have had to do: rename or delete the AI and SCAR folders to reduce (or stop outright in my case) crashing..

    I tried these fixes adding the DLC lines and can confirm it does unlock the new modes. So, very nice job koinonos.

    Interesting question -

    There is a 5th module file - RelicOps.module

    Has anyone taken a close look at it to see if we need it and for what?

    I took a gander at it and it looks like it changes the playerdropbehavior to kill and adds a line to data.

  20. #20
    can someone post the entire .module? So I can copy it since I'm having some trouble with it.

    sweeten, i took a geez (haven't used that word in a few years) in those files, and it looks to be the stuff for the new game-modes (Stonewall, Panzerkrieg & Assault).

    @ Lethal - that's what I was thinking, too. I noticed the new gamemodes were also unlocked with the DLC lines as well (by checking the drop down in the game selection screen - no more locks now). Do you figure we should add these lines to the module file as well?

    Shouldn't be necessary, but then again i haven't checked in my own mod wether i can actually play them, might have to if we can't.

    I might throw the lines in there for now and make sure it doesn't screw things up. I have gotten anywhere near ready to check the new gamemodes for the mod yet, so I'll get to that later

    Is it possible to get all this stuff, ie how to get mods working with new patches and TOV, in a "How to" thread?

    I'm going through all of this and I cant seem to get a straight answer for getting my mod to work in singleplayer and multiplayer with the latest version of the game.

    Thank you.

    Sweeten, if you haven't added the RelicOps to your mod's .module file or linked it to your mod, you can't play the Ops. I tried today to play Panzerkrieg and after selecting it from the drop down menu it wouldn't let me select any of the maps installed (it still displayed a skirmish map), and it wouldn't let me start or anything.

    Koinonos, i found some nasty bugs;
    1. Adding the DLC1 stuff to a mod's .module file will unlock the ToV campaigns, however the doctrine screen will be blank, ie. no icons for upgardes or anything. I tested it on the first level of the Tiger Ace campaign, and no dice.

    The solution is instead of adding all those lines to your mod's .module file, instead make copies of the DLC1, DLC2 & DLC3 module files (works for the RelicOps file too), name them whatever you want (the game will automatically read them), and inside there near the top there is a line called Parent, which points to the RelicCOH module file. Delete the RelicCOH, and enter in the name of your mod instead. This will link the copies of the DLC stuff directly to your mod the same way they would link to the RelicCOH one, without any additional entries being needed in the 'parent' module.

    On a related topic, if your mod has edited the racebps files from v2.301, the doctrine won't properly work anyway, if you want to play the ToV campaigns you have to delete the racebps files are make the changes again from the v2.5 ones.

    Hey Rex, some possibilities

    With Lethal Dosage's approach you should remove any DLC references for movies, sound, data, locale, etc of your original <modname>.module file. The DLC copies you made are the children .modules that will reference your FreeWeapons.module file because you correctly modified each to point to Parent = FreeWeapons

    Strip all DLC references out of your parent freeweapons.module file and that shoudl do the trick. If it doesn't here is my module file that you are welcome to compare in case there is a potential typo in yours.

    An all 3 TOV campain working parent <modname>.module file
