Company of Heroes Tales of Valor

    hello

I have just got the TOV sent to me, But I have read some bad reviews on the patches and mods not working with the game and I just don't know now what to do!, should I wait for the patches to be fix.

I have original COH and OF installed with the v2.301 and I have the mod & maps for that but if I install TOV what will happen to my Mod? and Maps? will start again ? that's the question.

I have the v2.500 patch but where is the link for v2.51?

    Thanks

Copy the Company of Heroes folder from the THQ folder to somewhere safe. Then patch on to v2.501, and enjoy normal games with ToV, but when you wanna play CoH v2.301/mods just launch it from where you pasted it.

    @Celéstial

So if I copy the file COH to C:\ with the same name maybe the new patch v2.5 to v2.51 will over right it. what if I copy it and rename it will it work? or I copy it to my D:\? with the same name.

So my old maps will not work with TOV? or Mod is that what you are saying? if it is "oh crap".. Iwill wait

I read somewhere if I open Corsix mod tools with my mod and save every file in red again that I edit in my mod will it work under the new v2.51 patch ?

I think I should add this:

I am Not going to play online in MP with TOV only one to one with the AI computer only,

If you copy the Company of Heroes folder to My Documents no patch will affect it. You don't need to rename it, but if you want to it has no effect. I think you can play both .sgb and .sga maps (just put .sgb maps in WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP in the copied Company of Heroes folder), and put .sga maps where they belong. It should work.

    Thank you.

I have only sgb map files, no Sga maps so is TOV only Sga only? and can I use the "Corsix mod tools" with TOV?

I really want you help on one map I made it with v2.201 but when my HHD crash I had to reload everything again then I updated my patch to v2.301, now it keeps crashing back to windows it's a night map and have lights in it.

    1. ToV can use .sgb too, but only maps that are made with the v2.400 - v2.501 worldbuilder, otherwise CoH will crash.

    2. You can use the modstudio with ToV (go the the How-To's section, sticky thread "The Grand How-To".
There it is explained how to get mods working.

In a state of perpetual confusion.
Since this has turned into a discussion of mods and mapping, it's better in The Armoury. I'll move it there.

Oh no so that means every map I have will not work! can I not open it and just save it in the new patch?

Thanks I have read your "The Grand How-To"

Hmm dunno, just try to run your maps, and if it crashes you know I'm right. I got alot of CoH crashes while playing (game freezes, music loops and then crashes back to desktop).

    Thank you.

I don't think I will install TOV now if my old maps can't work whats the point, I don't understand why Relic had too break all the maps and Mods before TOV and why didn't they fix the problem so we all can use the new add-on TOV with old maps and Mods???

Now my TOV will sit in the box for now and wait to see if Relic will fix the problem with a patch.

Yeah i just found this out by trying, and raising an eyebrow as i was met with pink buildings. I was beginning to worry when everything else seemed to work just fine, and i leaned back and said "Phew.. the world is back to normal" as i saw that something was screwed with the ToV and 2.500. The day when something works like a charm with no hickups after a new relic release, that's the day im going to start playing Lotto.

Think of it this way... Different makes and models of cars use different parts, or the parts are "better" upgraded.

It is a pain when a new version comes out and nothing works... but "if" the newer version has more and you can edit it, then it's just a matter of getting used to it, with trial and error.

I am still getting used to 2.301, so TOV will wait for awhile yet.

It seems nowadays you are better to have two HHD's(like me) so you can switch between.

Thinking of doing the same thing, setting it up so I have multiple installs, so I can have the best of *ahem* 3 worlds. I played the hell out of v1.71 CoH using mods for at least a year after OF came out. I've only had OF and ToV a short time though (got them almost back to back) so I never had enough time to explore and see what patch 2.301 was like.

The trouble I'm having is in deciding if I do separate installs, do I go with v2.301 or v2.400 of OF? I have no idea what modders and mappers are thinking or planning in this regard. As for ToV, I expect they'll be a few more patches before things settle down enough to decide what install of that to go with.

I'd say v1.71 and 2.301, as most later mods where made with 2.301 patch.

In the back of my mind.
Funny enough, i've got .sgb maps made from various versions of vCoH and OF which work in ToV fine, both in teh standard game and in mods, but theni think it's all on a case-by-case basis, some will work, some won't. You'll just have to try each of them.

I would say if Relic were to fix WB completly, then maybe all you need will be 2.5????

It would of been nice to have WB fixed for 2.301.
Then all you need is 2.301 on one HDD and TOV on the other.

I will be modding 2.301 for some time yet as there's much more for me to do.
