    www.GameReplays.org DoW2 1v1 Tournament!

    Hi everyone,

I'm the DoW2 Tournament Moderator over at www.gamereplays.org, and we've got an upcoming event I thought you should all know about. On May 9th, that's next Saturday, we're going to be starting a 128 player tournament with cash prizes for our top placers.

    TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING!

Think you've got what it takes? Want to see how you stack up against the rest of the world? Then check out the tournament rules and regulations. Please ensure you read those rules thoroughly, as they contain much important information about how to participate in the tournament.

If you would like to register for this tournament, please read this information, as it contains the details for how you can register to participate.

While spots are open, they are to be given on a first-come, first-served basis, so don't hesitate!

Any questions you might have should be directed to myself, via PM, over at www.gamereplays.org.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you all online and ready to throw down next Saturday!

Yes, there are still slots! In fact, we're only at about 50% capacity right now, but that's partly because the bracket for this tournament is open to DOUBLE to amount of players as last time. It's a great chance for those who've always thought about dabbling in competitive play to get their feet wet, and it's sure to be an exciting event.

We'll also be throwing together a replay package of all games played from the finals rounds of the tournament (top 16 on), so there will be plenty of high-level matches produced for your consumption.

There's definitely no cost to register, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

why? It will be crawling with ravaners + ripper spam, maybe they should ban ravaner and rippers from this tournament, then I would join. My TS went down from 38 to 36 just because of them. Once you reach that TS, you have 60% chance to 1v1 against one of those abusers, especially that all the lolhammer + tac spam have moved that direction too.

If you don't want to participate, then don't participate. I'm not sure you need to start crying about balance in this thread.

I wish I could play, but I'll probably be working when the tourney kicks off.

<EDIT> Oh wait, 5PM GMT. Sure, I can do that. lol

Indeed. Lets leave the balance discussion for the balance forum folks. If the tournament rules don't appeal to you, you should probably take that up with the tournament organizers through PM or email (or over at their own forum for this tourny). Otherwise, simply decline to participate.

You wouldn't be the first person to propose removing RA from the tournament, Cyborg. However, banning a commander as such would make for an incomplete competitive experience, and the results would be dishonest given the purpose of a tournament is to discern who is the best player and what are the most effective strategies at a given point in time. While the current balance state may favor RA players, I do not see the role of a Tournament Moderator as being to ban what is powerful in the current balance state. If I ban these things, what about what then emerges as the "next most powerful strat?" Do I ban that, too? If I were to follow your logic, CyborgZero, eventually I would be forced to ban every commander and unit in the game. This is not a path I intend to walk. As has been pointed out, nobody will coerce you into playing in this tournament, but at the same time, nobody will stop you from playing RA yourself. If the objective of a tournament is to win, and playing RA is the best way to win, then by all means, go for it.

Ultimately it is up to Relic to balance their games properly. My job is simply to organize and administer these tournaments. However, certain bugs (such as the Techmarine Mine Glitch), are seen as worthy of a ban, as they break several game mechanics (cool-down, build times, energy cost) in ways that completely defy the mechanics of the game. These may not be as "powerful" as the RA commander, but they are certainly more "broken," and the unintended advantage yielded by this bug has been deemed worthy of a ban.

I may not make the same choices that you would make if you were in my position, but I cannot realistically hope to make everyone happy all of the time. All I can hope to do is make fair judgment calls, and to that end I will do my utmost in all regards.

Sorry, maybe it should have read "...and Nids have been nerfed again! This time, was it enough?"

    Much better, Thanks.

I don't like balance discussions either. But I think the game can become more fun for everyone with a few more patches, to fix the glitches.
It'll be sad if relic stopped supporting the series after coming so far. Your website is more influencing than you think.

    Regards.
