[DoW] Skirmish Switch Teams Bug

When I play skirmish with the no fixed teams option and save the game, when I load and try to switch teams I get a "Alliance Pending" message before it says my request has expired. Please can someone tell me what this is, I mean the expiration text even has a unique graphic next to it!

Here are the weird messages.

This problem spans back to the original DoW and exists in all the expansions also.

There's nothing you can do except keep trying to join a team until you eventually succeed.

Thank you, but now the game freezes saying something about a fatal AI execution? Any help would be appreciated.

Create a new thread in the DoW Technical Assistance Forum outlinging the problem, the full error message you get and post a Warnings.log and Dxdiag.txt please
