    Wide graphics on widescreen monitor despite correct resolution

    (I will add the diag files as soon as I get home. Will also try getting a screen dump thru Fraps so it displays what I see on the screen.)

    Hi!

    On my computer with a GTX260/216 grapics card I have a problem with the graphics usually showing up with the wrong aspect ratio! The monitor receives the correct 1680x1050 resolution but the actual image is a bit smaller than that, and most of all in 4:3 ratio!

    The computer runs Vista64 and has 2.502 installed together with NVidias new 185.85 WHQL driver.

    Has anyone else this problem? I haven't seen it on my GTX285 computer with the 182-drivers.

    If I exit to main menu, change to another resolution and then back to 1680x1050 it is showing the correct image (fills the whole screen and at correct aspect ratio) as long as I don't restart the game.

    Any ideas?

    One thing that differs is that on the working computer OF 2.502 is installed and then my ToV serial was entered while on the other I installed using the ToV disc, but this shouldn't matter.

    /Michael

    I don't know for sure - so these are just tips:
    Open with Notepad the file named configuration.lua (should be in My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes folder - at least there it is on XP, if not; search for that filename on your OS's drive) - and see if these values are correct:

    {
    setting = "width",
    value = 1916,
    valueType = 2,
    },

    {
    setting = "height",
    value = 1078,
    valueType = 2,
    },

    my resolution as you can see it's: 1916x1078 (custom resolution, native 1:1 on my Samsung LCD TV) - yours should be (if I understand correctly what you wrote) 1680 and 1050 - if not, change it (very careful, type inside the numbers; then delete the extra, to not to add extra space or anything, make a backup first). Also make sure it's not read-only. Another option is to delete that file, you will loose only your options settings (see backup first) and set all options again (the game will start with automatic settings, like first time).

    I assume that you already have the correct (native) resolution set through nVidia Control Panel and it's working in Windows, just the game doesn't save it when you set it (something like admin rights on Vista, and other "smart" Microsoft security features).

    These values was correct in my case. There was another value with the word "width" in it, something like 1600 in my case but it didn't change the appearance.

    On the other hand, I tried your tip and deleted the config file and that seems to fix the problem! I have restarted the game three times and it is still with correct aspect ration. Earlier it was wrong every time.

    Thanks for your help!

    I'm glad to hear that.
