Sins of a Solar Empire Online community

I was on the Stardock forums for SoaSE when I read a thread that said that Ironclad Online (the online "thingy" for Sins) is failing. The thread was basically a bunch of people (myself included) griping about how hard it is to find a good game online and how there really isn't that much of a social aspect to the online community. I'm all about the socialization factor. That was part of what made HW so good for me; every time I went online, it was easy to take part in a discussion. Shooting the shit with that group of folks was just about as much fun as playing the game was. The fact that everybody got along (for the most part) also made it easier to get games going. I think that's part of ICO's problem; not that many players are shooting the shit.

I wrote all of that so I could write this...

I'm sure at least some of you guys play Sins (or want to play Sins, or used to play Sins but got turned off by said online problems). I'm trying to get more people online in the game to improve the experience. I think it's a really great game and that more people would enjoy it if there was a more fun atmosphere surrounding the online portion of the game. So. To anybody who is interested, post the name you use for the game online so that we can get a nice little thing going.

I play sins but only on LAN since I can't imagine a full game of Sins online.

I know I'm wrong, but I would imagine people would be disconnecting left and right after six-seven hour matches (not sure how people play online, so it could be shorter, but when I play LAN with my friends it's basically sit a whole day out and play with spaceships).

It all depends on who you play with. Sure, some people tend to quit some matches, but in my experience, it's not any more than any other RTS out there. Even when a player quits, an AI replaces them, so it isn't quite as bad.

As for game time length, most of the smaller to medium sized maps can last anywhere between 40 minutes to a few hours. It's not until you get into the really big maps that gameplay starts to last a really long time.
