    milking missions for loot and xp?

    i was playing my missions in sergeant mode (yeah im a noob), halfway through, i had to take a dump so i ended the game, came back and thought i had to restart the mission but my captured points remained captured, enemies respawned so i took them out and i gained more xp and loot then i would have if i played it only once.

    is there any penalty for replaying a single mission over and over again to milk it for xp and loot so my marines can level up more before the more difficult missions come along?

    also, i noticed that i could only cap1 building per mission but if i were to replay it, i could cap the other building and get more xp.

    since the campaign progresses all the time (day counter ticking on and on), its just like in life: you fail, you can try again. your loot, your xp and capped buildings you keep, even when you fail.

    one "penalty" i am aware of is that the infestation ratings rise... which at least on primarch makes some tyranid missions pretty mean stuff ( at least if you are like me and try to keep all your squad leaders alive at all times ;-) ).

    since there is an endless supply of missions waiting for you, especially towards the second half of the game, where defense missions and "go kill the carnifex/lictor/zoantrope/nob/kommando nob/whatever" missions come over and over again, there is no real reason in my view to stick with just one mission over and over.

    considering that some missions got a day counter ticking down - limited availability - and you get some juice loot bits for those missions, its even a bit of the opposite - redoing one mission again and again lets those counters ticking down and lets those missions vanish.

    on the strategic assets: if you just go doin missions, you get all the assets anyway - if you dont loose them again in defense missions that is.

    There are some storyline missions with constantly respawning enemies which can be used for wargear farming. The one where you have to take out an Eldar ranger and then destroy several webway gates is one (don't recall its name). You can set up your dev squad just this side of a natural bridge and Eldar will constantly spawn and attack across the bridge......and frequently drop wargear. If you don't move north and take out the webway gates (from which the Eldar are spawning), this will go on indefinitely.

    how do i identify missions that have a timer on from missions where i can farm for xp? sorry for the noob questions, i did not play the tutorials (didn't have that option) and the manual doesn't explain much on s/p campaign, it has loads of info and pics on m/p though..

    btw, the artificer war gear that i redeemed at windows live marketplace sucks, at levels 7~ and higher, most of the loot is much better.. i shouldn't have bought the "limited edition" version of the game for that lousy wargear, the basic version was cheaper

    I don't recall any timers on missions that actually governed "failure" or "success." However, the longer you take the fewer stars you'll get for "speed" and, hence, less experience. Except on defend missions, I usually took my time and only got a single "speed" star per mission.

    I agree about the wargear. The pre-order wargear I got for the FC (EB/Gamestop) is pretty much useless.

    erm.. so i'll get more side missions and in turn more xp if i breeze through the maps instead of farming? do i need to cap all the relay points too?

    No, whether you take your time in a mission and farm won't affect the number of additional missions you'll get. It'll just (maybe) affect how much experience you earn for the mission you're farming. The longer you take in a specific mission, the fewer stars you'll get for "speed." This may mean less overall experience for that mission than if you ran through the mission as fast as possible. If I recall correctly, you get more experience if you get 3-4 stars in each category ("Kills," resilience and speed), then if you get 5 for kills, 3-4 for resilience and 1 for speed. For maximum experience, you'd want to get 5 stars in each category. This is something that is best done in defend missions.

    No, you don't have to cap all the rally points. Rally points just provide a place to heal up. You can ignore them all if you want. You do want to make sure you capture a shrine, array, or factory on each mission.

    @Pre-Order Wargear:

    Well, I didn't buy my Limited Edition for the Wargear but for the cool metal case =) But I find the Wargear far from useless, especially on the higher difficulty levels I am kinda glad to have them on the first missions... but the stuff later is better, yeah.

    @Mission Timers:

    Don't know about Sarge difficulty, but on Captain and Primarch, later on there are Missions that got a "Campaign Day Timer" on the Campaign Screen where you get to choose which missions you do. Some - like Defense Missions or other Special Missions - got something like "Days left: 4" writen in red under the Mission title. Those Missions will disappear after 4 Campaign Days - which would be after you retried 1 mission the fourth time, for example.

    @Rally Points:

    No you don't have to... I normally cap all of them since on Primarch its good to have one nearby without running over the whole map, but you don't need them.

    By doing all the missions, you get more knowledge of the squads and the enemies and the blood ravens. Its some pretty neat convos the sergeants make.
    The PC will never get back to its true potential, because all the games are now cross platform and all this cross platform games get "consolfied"
