    Custom maps!

    Hi Dartborne

    I tried all the above and only a very small percentage of sga maps appear. Is this to do with scar files?. I have have around 300 sga maps and most of them work perfect in the other mods, is there some way you could incorporate this feature in your mod?

    Great mod, but limited if it can't play custom maps.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    You need to convert the map files into sgb file.
    I use Mod studio (google it)

    If you have completed convert the map files, You will have several files.

    example: Your map name is "Battle"

    Battle.info (The map information)
    Battle.sgb (Map file, can edit with world builder)
    Battle.tga (Loading screen, I use photoshop to create it)
    Battle_map_base.tga (Map preview for random hq)
    Battle_map_slots.tga (Map preview for fixed location)
    ...
    ...
    ...


    Don't forget to convert back it into sga file.

    Hi M26Pershing, Thanks for the respond but have done all that and still no further forward. This is such a good mod and i would really like to play some more custom maps. There are some great maps out there. I have just downloaded the latest patch for the Eastern Front mod and with this mod you can put either sga or sgb maps in the EF directory and the majority will work great. I just wondered if this could be added to EAW.

    with 6.1.4 i got more fatal ki errors. will check it out a bit more and give you a respond.
    really strange with e.a.w, if i play with us/brits: the wm-ki uses most time the schrecken-doctrine. doesnt matters, if there are only 1 or 4 ki-player. most time all of them choose it. only 1 in 10 games 1 or 2 will choose the def-doctrine
    with pe the ki choose allways the luftwaffe-doctrine.
    so it´s a bit boring after some matches with us, cause i know, i have to place enough at + a bit vs inf and my def is save.

    to vitas22:
    take a screenshot from worldbuilder of your map (example), edit it a bit and convert this jpeg to tga (i use irfanview).
    copy this tga to your sgb-folder and rename it exactly to your sgb-files.
    after that u have to convert the whole files into sga and after gamestart u will see a loadingscreen. -> see M26`s post.

    I think EaW mod only support SGA map files.

    For the SGA map files
    Paste here C:\user\[Your name]\Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\europe_at_war\Scenarios

    For SGB map files
    You need to package it into single SGA file
    Paste here C:\user\[Your name]\Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\europe_at_war\Scenarios

    Run the game without "-dev"
    leave your Shortcut at desktop with "-mod Europe_At_War"

    @M26Pershing, Hi there again thanks for the reply, but as i have already said I understand how and where to put sga files and shortcuts without -dev. I have done all this and still only a small amount show up. I Mentioned the Eastern Front mod as an example to show that most of the custom maps can be played in mods if the ability is incorporated into the mod. My thought was whether or not Dartborne could add this feature in EAW. I have no problem converting sgb maps to sga maps, but what's the point if most of them won't work in EAW. Again as i have already said i think it has something to do with sga maps that include scar files.

    This is a good mod and i would like to keep playing it.

    denigraph, u could try another way to play custom maps. it´s only an idea (i play those, cause i dont need to copy the sga-maps to the eaw-folder).
    i bet, u have some sga-maps in c:\.........\ww2\scenarios.

    open the europe_at_war.module with an editor.
    edit the entry
    ScenarioPackFolder = Europe_at_War\Scenarios
    to
    ScenarioPackFolder = ww2\Scenarios

    now u will use only the sga-folder from ww2. maybe it works and u dont need to have a lot of copies of the sga-files.

    Stygio, Sorry mate no joy, however thanks again for the tip. I know where the EAW maps are in the data.sgs file, you can access them through Mod Studio. But how do you add maps to this file. The maps are sgb btw. I will just have to play around with it and see what happens.

    well, if they are sgb.. why u dont convert them to sga (needs some sec each map) and test them via ww2\scenarios etc?
    nothing is easier.
    ...data\scenarios\.... is only for sgb.
    i dont understand, why u make it difficult?
    an idea: u want to make your own mod and put your maps into this mod, like some ("standard") maps of eaw- or bk-mod.
    than/then (whatever is right) better ask one of the mod-originator.

    Stygio, Not sure you understand what i am tying to do. Difficult? it could not be more straight forward. I like this mod and wanted to play some of the SGA maps i have collected (some 300). When you copy the SGA maps to "My Documents......Europe_at_War\Scenarios very few maps appear in the game. I have now managed to find a way to play all or any of the 300 SGA maps i have in EAW MOD.

    well, actually i don´t have any idea, cause i`ve ~540 maps (sga) and i can play them all!
    if nobody else has an idea, u could try to reinstall the game. maybe something is wrong.

    When I use British and call "Red Devil", usually I can got two squads, but sometimes only one squad dropped, don't know it's a bug or designed intended.

    But anyway, I love this. If it's really a bug, then please do not fix it. This gives more interest.

    can be for 2 reasons: because the C-47 is shot down before drop the second squad, or it might follow a flight path too short and not have time to drop the second squad

    Problem while installing the path v6.1.4

    Hi Dart!

    I have a problem while I try to update the game to 6.1.4
    I will link a pic of it but it says:

    Error
    Could not open input file
    D:\EaW.ico

    I have tried reinstall the whole patch and redownloading it as well.. No luck..

    I ignored the icon problem, lauched it with 6.1, the 6.14 ..now...i can't do any skirmish or "fatal error" and the campaing ...few units real , tons of boxes "missing rgm"...It's sad, this Mod seem so good, but thanks anyway

    Dartborne, correct a few balance, the artillery is quickly recharged.
    CPU - poorly attacks, easy. CPU Werhmacht - badly attacks artillery. Blitzkrig mod cpu plays more strongly.
    For the rest fashions it turned out good.

    Just a thought, but both Nurbsico and Azooma are active on these forums, Why not ask them to help create a "new AI" for EAW. Or maybe whip up a generic AI for all or any mods. One that will be better than the existing AI.

    I really like this mod. It is the Vanilla as it should be I have an issue with the Brits. I cannot build the Tank HQ as I cannot build a captain [at least it says so in the tooltip that I have to build a captain]. So how can you get the Tank HQ for Brits :/

    Yes, i tried placing both sgb and sga files. but no dice.

    Edit:

    I got it to work. Instead of placing into "My Documents\My games\Company Of Heroes\Europe_At_War\Scenarios\", i placed it into the game's main directory "Company of Heroes\Europe_At_War\Data\Scenarios\".

    Although i had to manually make those folders because it was not initially there.

    Some kind person here, has made this proccess all the easier.

    But with those maps... Hmmmm... What does the mod only accept the maps within the folder you mentioned. Other mods show all my maps as described above. Wghat makes the difference?

    Edit: Found it out by myself. Just in case there are others who ask themselves the same question...

    Look into the *modname*.module file and search for the line

    ScenarioPackFolder = *modulename*\Scenarios

    Alter it to:

    ScenarioPackFolder = ww2\Scenarios

    That's all. This mod will now use the map collection within c:\users\admin\documents\my games\company of heroes\ww2\scenarios

    This way you only need to have one collection without map duplicates.

    I have a problem when i start a map there is a unit that say its missing and shoud see warnin log how can i fix it. I can buy it but it come out as a pink square with text. how can i fix it

    Most likely you didn't install this mod in the correct path.

    @Rifle87654/@Rakazul
    Are you sure you already tried to do a fresh install of this mod? Delete the old files and install it once more, also maybe the installer could be corrupt.

    When you see a "missing unit cube" error, you usually post which unit is missing at your end or an screenshot to depict it or what map where you playing if was a map object, I don't think @Darthborne can guess what unit are you referring at all at first glance, you need to be more specific if you want to get help .

    In either case, the warnings.log is not going to tell @Darthborne anything about your current issue. You need to upload the ailog.txt, it is on LogFiles folder, located at the same place where you got the warnings.log, just look at the file that has the correct datetime.

    About the missing unit, you should know what unit is by clicking on it and reading it's ui stuff, could you post it here? (unless it is a map object, then a screenshot would be better ^^)

    yeah, you guy blackbishop i have install an other and now i can play it i like this mod because it didn't make me dizzy with the amount of infantry. tks dartborne THQ should pay him alot. But one more thing i install the update 6.14 how can i fix the problem
