    [How To] Radioman that calls in reinforcements off map.

    Alright, first of all, make yourself a "Radioman" and make them buildable in the barracks. (Make a copy of engineers, and rename them to radioman, follow the Grand How-To and make sure to have only 1 member in the squad)

    This section is in attrib->ebps->races->allies->buildings->barracks.rgd
    Now, go to the ebps of any production building, I recommend allied barracks and copy the spawner_ext from there (right click copy)

    Go to attrib->ebps->races->"race"->soldiers->"radioman".rgd
    and paste it into the GameData of your radioman (right click on GameData, choose paste into)

    making sure it adds a spawner_ext to the list.

    now select the spawner_ext and set spawn_at_map_entry_point to true.

    Now delete engineer_ext to remove any construction menus (right click, delete), and remove any abilities from the abilities_ext (dont delete "ability01" etc, simply click the abilities list and remove any entries from the right hand side, leaving them blank.)

    now simply add whatever squads you want to be called in to the squad list of the spawner_ext, and make sure the unit you want to call in's ui_group is between 5 and 12, and there are no repititions (again, refer to the Grand-How-To to do this, exactly the same method as adding your radioman to the barracks).

    go ingame, build your radioman and start building those reinforcements!

    Maby you could explain it more to the detail. How-To's have to be dummy-proof.The way you explain it now is rather undetailed, and I can imagine alot of people will not understand what you are saying.

    yea, theres a few tutorials for abilities, but none that involve calling in units without fiddling with abilities.

    Thanks! Thats awesome! I never thought of doing it that way. Nice one.

    Maybe you need some sub menu in radio squad. So you can call between reinforcement and air support.

    Shouldnt be necessary, as the two are seperate from each other( spawn_ext and abilites menu) cant see any reason why abilities still cant work, nor upgrades, one would only need a submenu if you ran out of ui_group_positions

    hell if you really wanted to, you could probably resize the ability icons and put them in the slot item area.

    Does not work!

    Well, I have been trying (in many different ways) to get this to work, and yet, it does not!
    I followed the tutorial to the letter, with no result.

    Either this is impossible, or the tutorial is incomplete.

    Any way, further clarification is needed, prefferably on a step-by step basis.

    //Thanks.

    It is quite easy but Uccido did not explain it that well.

    Oh? Well, I'm hoping for someone to provide me with a slightly more detailed explaination... I can't figure it out, anyways!

    Well you can explain step by step what you have to do, in which file on what location. Look at other tutorials how they do it.

    Yes, please do! I'm very interested in this method of bringing units into the field.

    Not to rush things, but I would really like a clarification, please. If you are willing.

    i've updated it, is that any better?

  17. #17
    Well I have followed the instructions above with a Wehr Pioneer copy named Radioman.

    In ebps I added spawner as above and added copies of the armor units I wanted to call in that had no requirements and were set to ui positions 5-8.

    I deleted all construction options, engineer options and abilities but still when I build my radioman from my barracks no units are showing up on his menu bar to be called in, only the ralllypoint flag is showing up.

    Any ideas why this isnt working for me?

    Thanks

    edit
    actually, the ideal for me would be to put the units that I want to call in into a seperate menu, similar to a construction sub menu, is there any way to do that? I know that first I have to get this working for me on a basic level, but I thought I would throw this out there too.

    This may be a bit late, but I wanted to thank you for the clarification, Uccido. My mod took a different turn that drove me away from the 'construction' of units and into pretty much all other aspects of the game...

    Because you first need to make a reinforcement ability, and add that ability to the ability_ext from your radioman. Don't put any units in the spawner_ext like you do or buildings.

    Hi all,

    I haven't posted in a while and I'm curious if this still works? When I tried it myself, the unit didn't display on the ui unless I changed allow_spawner_production to true as part of sbs ui settings. When I did this the units showed up on the ui, but I was unable to build the unit.

    What have I missed?

    nice tuto and in this case you can make call in "Bombing Runs Abilities" for your Radioman like this

    bombing runs

    halifax bomber and stuka bombing runs

    1 second before bomb!

    and sorry I cant make tutorial because my english is bad

    On a related note, how do you get units to head towards a certain posistion after spawning, like rangers. Do you have to make it an ability that spawns units rather than putting them in spawner_ext?

    Yep, you'll have to make it an ability, with a targeter.
