[TOOL] Dekhranic SGA Archive GUI - 1.4.1.0

  1. #1

[TOOL] Dekhranic SGA Archive GUI - 1.4.1.0

Written in C# and compiled using the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    Download is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ntnitjqnhwv

    USE
    1. Enter the SGA archive name
    2. Choose the archive type (data, attrib, or movies)
    3. Choose an input directory containing the files to be stored in the SGA
    4. Choose an output directory
    4. Click Create SGA

    WHAT IT DOES
Just simplifies the entire process of compressing and extracting

    REQUIRED FILES
Archive.exe included with DoW 2 (just need to have the game installed, or a copy of it in the folder with this)

    1.4.1.0 (Oct. 15th, 2009)
    ---
Now autodetects the SGA format version when extracting and looks for the appropriate archive.exe to use

    1.4.0.1 (Oct. 15th, 2009)
    ---
Now only shows the 'sound' archive type for DoW 2 sga creation, as CoH doesn't appear to use it

    1.4.0.0 (Oct. 15th, 2009)
    ---
    Added SGA extraction support
    Added support for 1.8 DoW2 archive.exe hashes
Now doesn't calculate hash to determine which game (CoH or DoW2) the archive.exe is from, IF it's found in the game directory, should help with invalid autodetects
    Bunch of code cleanup

    1.3.7.3 (Oct. 15th, 2009)

    ---
Now checks file hashes to determine if archive.exe is v4 or v5
Added optional editing of TOC name to prevent duplicate conflicts, will default to archive type however. Click to edit it!

    1.3.2.3 (Sept. 8th, 2009)

    http://www.modsrus.com/wiki/doku.php?id=dow2:formats

Some file formats you seem to have missed at first glance: .fsb (sound), .ai (scar), .tga (I think a few uses of targa), .scenario, .wb-scenario (maps), .coverbox and then there's the fx ones.

  5. #5
Thanks! I didn't see that page, I'll add those formats to it within the next day (hopefully tonight) and release a new version.

Just a note, but if anyone wants the application in a different language than English, and is willing to provide translations, I'll add multi-language support to it.

@Zanyth0x42 I just packed my mod using the SGA Archive GUI and IMO when it's working, it's brilliant.

A few desperately needed changes though. Firstly when you click the "autodetect" archive.exe button, it would be nice to have a message box that says that it can't find the file and directs you on how to find it, rather than nothing. Even better, of course, would be an autodetect that works for all recent versions of Windows (I was running Vista).

Secondly the program actually crashes when you press "Create SGA" if it can't find the archive.exe. It would be far less confusing if you tested to see if it had located the file, and showed a message box when you press the button if it can't.

Also, if that's your real name in your email address in the donate link, then I just found where you live... Just a heads up that you might not want your name available to the world if the Archiver becomes popular (and I hope it does)

Would it be possible to have this package sound archives as well?

    The root folder is modname\sound\

@OneProduct, I replied to you on the other forums where you asked: http://community.dawnofwar2.com/foru...comment-465941

    @Miguel
1: Autodetect - Thanks, somehow missed that, I put in basic checking but appears I missed a spot somewhere, will track it down and fix it
Edit: The mistake was I was checking if the path existed and I had assumed an invalid path (blank) would count as not existing, instead it threw the error when checking the path

2: I'm running on Windows 7 and don't have my copy of Vista anymore, but if it's a UAC related issue I should be able to track it down (I have mine disabled); Is yours enabled and causing issues? If so let me know what occurs, I'll reinstall the game myself and check when I have time though

3: Thanks for the heads up, I'm not too worried about my name or anything but I didn't realize that my email showed up there >D

Quite funny - just the day before yesterday I finished the code for my personal SGA extractor and now you come up with yours . I'll post my stuff anyways but it's nice to see that there are other people working on this stuff. I still haven't figured out how the first Hash is calculated and what the last 6 bytes of the Header mean, have you?

  30. #30
Haha I had been lazy about it, I meant to add it a long time ago but didn't work on this for a while; Mine isn't built-in extraction though, I just run it through the archive.exe from DoW2/CoH

The hashes I referred to in the changelog are just to determine if the archive.exe is for Company of Heroes or Dawn of War 2 (since CoH = sgaV4 and DoW2 = sgaV5). I wanted a way to know which was which if the user just dropped the archive.exe into the same folder as this, since the filename is the same for both games (sorry if that was confusing), so I wouldn't know about the hash calculation or header.

when i create the sga of my mod and then copy it into the gameassets folder and run the program it crashes, i´m playing with a modded version of patch 1.5. Any clue on why does this happens?

  38. #38
Firstly how did you manage to keep it at version 1.5, secondly what do you mean by modded?

    Oh, and any warnings logs?

It gives me a "Archive.exe (V5-DOW2) file does not exist." I found an Archive.exe file in tools->bin but how do I make it work?

Specify the path of the v5 Archive.exe in the last line of DK - SGA Archive.ini.

Hmm, just crashes after saying new install, blah, blah. I put it in the tools/bin of dow2 where the archive.exe resides (from 2.6.0).

Never mind. Although it crashed on the first/install run, it works okay on subsequent runs after I manually set the path to archive.exe. I suspect the autodetection is bugged.
