    @ mark - if you have the BotB maps, you can add them as you would any other custom map (we have no mod specific maps, so for the mod in general you add maps the same way you would vanilla custom maps)

    @ Gliz - I will certainly help you, but I have to say i am not 100% sure what you are asking :/

    I know you said that you have Corsix and I think you have used it before, so i gather it's not Corsix overall.

    If you mean how to you get the art rgt files converted, where do they go, etc...

    You have to go into corsix, right click on the rgt file, and open as rgt. Then in the screen that opens on the right (the rgt file pic), choose either tga or dds at the bottom by picking the circle, and click save copy. A copy will be created for whichever of the two you created in the EuropeanTheater1944 folder right next to the rgt, but in whichever format you chose. So if you know where to find the rgt file you were looking at (you can follow the paths you took in corsix folder wise), you will know where to look for the new .dds or .tga file

    Hello,

    First of all, very nice mod.
    Yesterday I downloaded 1.7.

    But a few comments, a lot of pages so I wont read them all. (maybe they r already posted)

    - The tiger ''I'' lost its sound ( I really liked the massive blast from 1.6, so plz put it back on in the nxt patch)
    - The ability to shoot trough fog of war has been disabled ( yes maybe its too easy when you r able to shoot trough it, but I still think it adds something. Shooting random shells to blow a town into pieces before attacking it with infantry is just epic!)

    I'll try and check on the Tiger sound. And the ability to fire into the FOW is turned off for mobile arty to simulate more limited and precious rounds

    @ everyone - wanted to make sure you guys didn't think I re-disappeared

    I have been working on v2.0 putting in models completed while I was taking a break and re-organizing some things

    I am also happy to say we got permission to use models from Men of War if needed (thanks to 1c for that permission!) as well as from the German Soldiers mod and Dynamic Campaign Generator Mod from MoW (a special thanks to those two mod teams as well - your credits will be on page 1 soon!). So that should help out the process of getting models ready. I just did the "unfinished models" list that I want to try and get into the Alpha - there are 31 of them (good for you - sux for us ) and that is in addition to many that we already added. We'll see how many we can get done and how many will have to have substitute models for now.

    @ TheWar - if you download the auto-installer version, all you have to worry about is the shortcut

    From page 1 -

    6) Right click on your CoH Shortcut, and choose "create shortcut"
    7) Right click on the new shortcut and select "properties" - set the target line to read as the following :

    "C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe" -dev -mod EuropeanTheater1944

    8) Rename the new shortcut whatever you'd like
    9) Click on "Change Icon" inside properties, and "browse" to find the icon included in the mod folder - choose it
    10) Then you're good to go!!

    Here's my first of what could be many opinion questions for the community and fans of N44...

    I have/had the LG40 Recoilless gun on our model to-do list. For those not familiar here is what it looks like http://anonymous-generaltopics.blogs...h%C3%BCtz%2040

    Note how low and small it is - it was basically a portable heavy infantry gun used by Fallschirmjaeger.

    The problem is there is nothing really like it it CoH, and even if we could find a makeshift way of firing it, making it move would look rediculous. More or less - it's more trouble than what it's worth, so it was put on the backburner.

    The problem is, it was in the plans and not having it will gimp the Falls and Luftwaffe Infantry that were going to use it (6.Falls and 91.LID I believe).

    Here is the question -

    Do I replace it with the leIG18 infantry gun, which the Falls/LID DID NOT have historically, but served the same purpose? I could try to find another unit to fill that "buildable slot", but nothing that can serve the role of a 7.5cm HE firing gun (at least not one that would be even more rediculous than the leIG18 historically). And I know you could say, "They never had it before - what's the big deal?" But, other doctrines/sub-doctrines/sub-subdoctrines do have that kind of stuff now making the ones that were supposed to have it at a possible unfair disadvantage and making them less desirable to choose (I have tried to make all the docs/subs have pros and cons so they all have pros and cons and have ways of winning and beating any other doc/sub)

    These are the sorts of problems we face when it comes to which models to make sure we have and how far to stretch historical accuracy vs. possible balance issues when it comes to replacements or "substitutes", so public opinions from fans would be appreciated

    EDIT - it looks like I most certainly can use the leIG18 and sIG 33 within reason for the 91.LID. So the only real question if for the 6.FJR (and possibly 3.FJD - I don't belive I originally designed for them to have LG40's but I am not sure)

    @ TheWar - when you are opening or using your shortcut, make sure you are running it as an administrator - that is probably why you can't change the target line (I think there is an option to check a box to run as administrator when you right click and open properties on the shortcut.

    @ everyone - coding is going well for v2.0 and we are inching closer to internal Alpha testing. It is far from dead and quite alive

    That is great to hear Sweeten! I love the historical accuracy of this mod and look forward to its release. I know you've had some difficulties finding the road ahead and ran into many unforeseen challenges but that all makes the final release that much more of an accomplishment.     I have a serious problem running this mod;
    When I start a Skirmish, the command bar appears as a Black Bar at the bottom of the screen and is not usable and the rest of the HUD is not visible, game lags badly although I am still able to select and order units. And I cannot use the Esc button to bring up the in-game menu to exit the game so I have to Alt+Control+Delete out of the game. So this renders the mod for me to be almost completely unplayable.

    How do I fix this?

    I am running Company of Heroes on the settings preferred for my system.

    @ TheWar - I do need to change that readme - it is from before we started uploading in ModDB and before the auto-installer. I have heard of other people not able to change their target line, but that is not mod specific. For whatever reason it's not letting you have the "permission" needed to do it. Are you able to change any of the shortcuts on your desktop? It is not a mod specific issue, but it may be a CoH specific issue if you are able to adjust other target lines in shortcuts. 9 times out of ten any issues with "permissions" (and I noticed it happens a LOT more often with Windows 7) is having admin privileges.

    Welcome (2142)

    To put it as simple as possible, N44 is very demanding on RAM memory. To say that it is MUCH more demanding than vanilla CoH would honestly be an understatement. That error, 100% of the time, is due to graphics settings and system specs. Here is a quote from page 1 of this thread for the best solution/explanation :

    Due to the size of the mod and all the added content, there is a dropoff in performance. In the mod's last thread I did a poll asking whether or not people would like to see more things (skins, units, abilities, etc...) at the cost of some perfromance. The answer was an overwhelming "yes". So, you may have to lower graphics settings from what you normally play CoH or other mods. A simple rule of thumb is making sure the "memory usage" bar on the graphics settings page does not go above 1/3. A basic "minimum requirement" for RAM memory appears to be about 3GB of RAM. You will need about 4GB of USABLE RAM (which would mean the need for a x64 bit OS) to play on high settings, and about 6GB of RAM to start playing bigger games on high or Ultra.

    For those with less than 4 GB of RAM, a x32 bit operating system, or who are having graphical crash issues - keep ALL the settings other than 1) Shader Quality, 2) Model Quality, and 3) Texture Detail on low or off ALL the time. They're just about useless in the big picture (that comes from thousands of games watched and played, so I have to STRONGLY suggest doing that at least for the mod if you are having crash issues). Keep Shader Quality and Model Quality on "high" all the time. Also, keep the model detail slider bar in the middle (though that seems to make no difference). The only thing to adjust is the Texture Detail. "Medium" texture detail is pretty much the default setting for just under 4GB RAM, although you can try high and see if it works for you. If you're using Wehr on a 3v3 or higher and already having issues, I suggest low. If you are going to mix factions, I STRONGLY recommend low if you are already having issues- maybe medium for a 2v2 where it's PE vs. a US and Brit mix - but never high for a mixed faction game with less than 4-5 GB of USABLE RAM. Obviously if your having issues, dropping one of the 3 main things (texture detail first) may be necessary.

    My old CPU specs : Intel Core 2 Quad Core Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz x32 bit Vista 4 GB Ram NVidea GeForce 250 GS 1024 MB. The above suggestions both worked and were needed with those specs

    I then installed Windows 7 x64 bit (no other changes). Basically meaning I was able to use my full memory due to the x64 bit OS (x32 bit OS's are only able to use about 3.5 GB's of RAM minus your graphics card memory). I then was able to play mixed faction games on Ultra and High settings. So, the mod is VERY dependent on RAM memory, and for better performance you need more memory.

    My newest rig has much higher specs and there are no issues at all (9GB RAM)

    BASICALLY - LOOK AT THE ABOVE GUIDELINES, JUDGE YOUR COMPUTER SPECS AGAINST THEM, AND FIND THE "SWEET SPOT" WHERE YOUR RIG CAN PLAY THE MOD WITHOUT ISSUES

    Hello guys,

    first of all I'm very glad to hear everything goes as fine as possible.
    But some users on moddb came up with some questions about the gameplay I would like to post here and I hope to get a (short) answer for them

    1st was complaining about the difficulties of combined use of armored forces and infantry since either one of them is too slow or too fast so he would like to see a "follow"-ability for all infantry squads to keep a combined troop together very closely for an effective use.

    2nd and this was mentioned already multiple times is that the Calliope tank is much too strong in comparison to it's low costs and it's high availability. Plus the ability to shoot into the fog of war was asked to be removed since it's high range makes it capable of shooting into the base quiet easily and only a few salvos are enough to cause heavy to total devastation.

    Or what do you guys think about this points?

    @Cennedy1457 - Ah yes, another ability for all the units. Only one problem with that, and that is space. We'd have to ensure that every other ability has space to be used, but I can see how that would be a useful ability.

    As for the Calliopes, I think we've fixed that more or less, although I believe the FOW firing is still there.

    I would be very careful with the Allied artillery. Not only is it weaker than the German counterpart but also the German are having artillery supperiority (I know what I'm talking about as I play them a lot) over the Allies.
    In my opinion there should be a very long counters for arty and Allies should have at least the same range.

    @Sweeten2213 I have just realized I have installed the 32-bit version. So I'm limited with my RAM... Dough!!!!
    But the good news is everything works fine so I should be able to start some works this weekend. I've seen some skinning tuts and will have a go. Could you PM me what needs doing?

    Rather Dissapointed...

    First just to be clear I love the mod and the tank skin above is and I am still waiting for the next release. Still no preasure on the team, the easter eggs and updates keep me patiant.
    I also loved the fact that tiger 205 had joined the crew which was a big step closer to seeing the Elephant and Maus among others he was working on showing up in mods. The Maus may not be historic enough for some mods as only 2 were made and I beleave only the Russians saw any action against one before the crew blew it up outside the factory where it was built, maybe EF mod could have used it.
    What I was diapointed in was the reaction tiger was getting, i'm not a mod person and have no idea what to even do to start out but playing mods is what makes older games new again and bring humor such as in the NHC mod which is a great change of the norm. I hope he has not been dropped from the 44 team or has left for good as pics have vanished of his work or forums have been locked.

    The German sFH 18 15cm Howitzer (from MoW - animations by me)



    And the Soviet 61k 37mm AA gun (from MoW - animations by me)



    I also put in newer modeled (and properly skinned) versions of the ZiS-2 and ZiS-3 (from EF team, animated by me) as well as the 76mm Obr 1927 Infantry Gun (from MoW - animations by me).

    I also was able to put in a properly animated leIG 18 and 75mm Pack Howitzer (animations by Tankdestroyer).

    So we are getting a lot done and moving closer to getting the models we need done and coding for an Alpha for testing (internal - i will talk about that later)

    As an old SHoWW2, FoW and MoW player, I have a question regarding these new models:
    If you disregard the slight discrepancies in scale that might be present, aren't these models somewhat high-poly for the CoH engine?
    I have no idea about the number of tris, but I always perceived the MoW and FoW models to be a bit more detailed than CoH ones, which, if proven to be true, might make running the mod, which is already a resource hog, even more demanding?

    The reason you might think MoW models are high poly is because they use a high resolution texture.

    Excellent looking SU-122. Have you worked out the occlusion on it? The lighting looks much better than other custom models. Maybe it's just the skin.
