    I wouldn't say tons of work coding wise is being done. Sweeten was our main coder, and other then DMz's valiant (Definately appreciated!) coding work we're abit stalled as of now.

    As for Sweeten, I don't know. I've seen him online Steam wise acouple of times here and there, but he seemed unresponsive to my posts.

    Regardless we are in desperate need of someone who can code at this point in time.

    So, having said that if anyone can offer assistance (Ask DMz, it's a bloody iceberg) we'd very much appreciate it.

  15. #4615
    This is Caen not Arnhem. N'44 is certainly not dead, just stalled as it were.

    We haven't had contact from Sweeten in a long time and, as Twitchy said, are looking for individuals with coding experience.

    I'm pretty sure I remember somewhere in this huge thread Sweeten saying he had some type of cancer. Hope he's just offline recovering still.

    I hope you get someone, if I could code then I would gladly put myself forward but alas I cannot. Have you advertised for someone? Perhaps if you asked at the TotalWar.org side. The forum is full of modders and good ones too, you never now your luck?

    I am alive and doing well.

    I do, in fact, have Stage IV Lung Cancer diagnosed in August, but the Lord has healed me a great deal (pretty much all clean scans, now)... So for that miracle I am have God to thank.

    As for the mod, I am also back to work now (another miracle) and not sure when or if I will get back to finishing the coding. As you can imagine, when one goes through what i have been through, emotionally and spiritually, it changes you for lack of a better term.

    I will try and keep you posted here and maybe I will pick back up the coding at some point in the future - I just have many other priorities ATM.

    @ Twitch - that was my son who was on my CPU on Steam (he didn't even realize he was on).

    @ DMz - thank you for stepping in here on the thread to update as best you could.

    Great to hear that your scans have cleared up and that you are well! However stage IV means the cancer is metastatic, has it spread to anywhere important, or have the doctors managed to clear that up as well?

    At the moment all places it had spread are taken care of via Cyberknife (they were in my brain and spine). The only tumor I have left at the moment is a 1.5cm tumor in my right lung that actually may just be scar tissue (it was probably 5cm or so - it shrunk down to 1.5cm). I have had clean scans in my brain and spine for months now - Thank God!

    Sounds amazing, yes hard to distinguish between scar tissue and cancers as they appear the same up in an MRI.

    Not even kidding, was shadowing a consultant in a Cyberknife clinic yesterday.

    Glad that you are much better now! Hopefully it will stay that way!

    @Sweeten2213, Glad to hear you are alright, I heard about your cancer months ago when it was announced to the community and it is a great relief to know you are alright. I hope you stay healthy!

    So glad you are doing well! We were certainly getting worried. We've kept up contact with the community and they are awaiting patiently. We were able to place in the top 100 mods again and our profile is still getting several hundred hits a day.

    Whenever you're ready to get back to work the team will be ready.

    Also, try and avoid derailing a thread to backseat moderate - we staff are here to keep the forum rules enforced

    To be honest its getting to the point that no one can post what they think in here without it being deleted or classed as back seat moderation.

    In 16 years online ive never seen a forum where every one is scared to say somthing in case they get a warning or a ban, that is till now. I really dont see the point of a place where discussion is supposed to be normal. When in a lot of discussions, arguments or misunderstandings can occure, and the second they do the posters are jumped upon or the posts deleted, or worse.

    Okay dont have flame wars fine. But nothing that was posted previously was offensive or to be honest could have been interprated as such, even I being as thick as two short planks realised i had got hold of the wrong end of the stick, and misinterpreted the post. & then mearly posted to that effect having realised that NL123 was kidding.

    Moderation is one thing, but to carry on the way you guys do is just getting rediculous. Im sorry but it overmoderation and it really is getting beyond a joke.

    @DMz - I don't exactly see how I'm supposed to reply to a post that's already been deleted. I posted my post, and by the time I checked in again Gorb had stopped by.

    So I guess what you're saying is that it was a joke? Well, Alright then. It's in pathetically poor taste (In my opinion) but then again so are many other things in life.

    Had I looked at it again, I might've interpreted it as such, then there would be an apology due and the like.

    My only "Job" so to speak is to manage the forum. There is no coding, no concepts to be done up, nothing that I can physically do. I deal with at the very least 10-20 of these questions a week, ranging from ModDB, Random people on steam in the group and people on CoH.

    Every now and again, one or two lads post the same question on here also.

    I'm not trying to be rude, I'm not trying to backseat moderate. It's simply a case of dealing with the same irritating question over, and over, and over again. Forgive my lack of Chivalry in the matter on here but I deal with it alot, so every now and again I might get abit peeved with someone.

    Upon rereading your post I don't know whether you're directing this to the Moderators or myself and Therewasatime, or both.

    Either way I'll leave it here, enjoy your night and my apologies to NL if he was joking; If not well then lesson learned.

    Cheers,

    ~Twitch

    DMz: lets not go overboard now. You can post what you like, providing that it doesn't breach our forum rules. Something that you all agreed to when registering for membership.

    The post I assume you are referring to was reported by a member, and then deleted by a moderator with acknowledgement from other staffers. Thats how things work. No matter how you go about it, asking for an update is asking for an update. The post caused quite a stir and completely derailed the thread. That's 2 reasons alone why it was deleted. Do we really need to keep that string of posts visible? Because before you know it, we would be battling through half a pages worth of posts after others jump on the bandwagon and further derail the thread. There's a reason why we delete off topic posts.

    If you disagree with our moderating style, forums rules, or have anything you want to add - please take it to forum issues. Thats what it's there for.

    Please help with portrait icon for various units?

    Hey, this is gonna sound weird, but 99% of the portrait icons for the units only appear as a yellow portrait. It happened also with the blitzkrieg mod and I don't know how to correct it. Someone suggested a while back that I should uninstall and reinstall everything but it didn't help. What can be done to correct this? Please help?

    @Klawer101 - That is...very pecuiliar indeed.

    Other then a corrupted install, I would have no knowledge on this. My apologies.

  42. #4642
    @Klawler101
    Do you have the retail version? Have yoyu installed DirectX routines? Have you installed Microsoft Redistributable routines? Are you sure the installer you donwloaded is not corrupted? (You can check in the properties of the file the size in bytes, and see if it matches with the size in bytes of the installer in ModDB download section)

    @blackbishop

    Hey, thank you for the info, I do not think the installer was corrupted, my friends and I used exactly the same installer for every company of heroes game and the size of the installer matches the size that is posted on modDB. As for the direct X routine and the redistributable routine, it could maybe be that my pc does not have the above programs and can I maybe ask please if you could maybe direct me to a place or website where I could get the above mentioned programs? Thank you in advance for all your trouble.

  44. #4644
    DirectX installer -> http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35

    I don't know if you have 32 or 64 bits OS so I'll put both, just remember to use only the right one not both .

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable (x86) -> http://www.microsoft.com/download/en...s.aspx?id=3387
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 redistributable (x64) -> http://www.microsoft.com/download/en....aspx?id=21254

    Not sure if these will help though:
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable (x86) -> http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=29
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable (x64) -> http://www.microsoft.com/download/en....aspx?id=15336

    It saddens me to say, with all you help that I appreciate greatly, it still didn't work. I have installed everything you posted and it didn't work. So then I thought there could possibly be a conflict with the previous versions of the vcredist, so I uninstalled everything and only installed the ones you gave me and yet, nothing changed.
    I really appreciate all the help you have given me thus far.
    If you maybe have another idea of what could be wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  46. #4646

    same problem

    Im having the same issue with all the unit portraits, tried the mentioned suggestions with no luck...

    I regularly play blitzkrieg, and modern combat with no problems, so no idea what this could be.

    Would love some help with this!

    Yes, I thought maybe if the graphics were at it's highest it might show... it didn't. So I lowered it and.... it didn't.
