    Ok, tell me if this could work...
    My friend's game works perfectly fine, what if I copy and paste the folder from my friend's computer containing the portrait icons and replace my folder containing the icons. Could that work?
    But: is there a folder that allocates the icons to the units? If so what is it? And lastly could it work?

    check the "Data/Art/ui/ingame" folder inside your N44 mod directory, that folder contains all the icons, portraits, symbols and other similar 2D stuff used for UI. If it was a bad install like @Twitchy pointed out, doing this would fix your problem.

    I don't think that's something to laught about regardless where you come from.

    Have you updated the video drivers recently or have you tweaked some options at the catalyst center?

    When you sent me the links to DirectX and such, I also updated my video drivers to the most recent versions and I haven't tweaked any options. I have no idea what could be the problem. Last night I tried something else. I copied my friend's games exactly from his program files and see if that could work but it didn't. So it has to be that there is something wrong with my system files or something and not the game itself.

    I have enjoyed your mod but now am unable to launch it

    recently upgrade my graphics card to 512 mb and the game ran fine

    i lowered some of the graphics settings in the game to optimize perfromance

    i did this several times to see what the difference might be

    a few days ago i started getting error messages about not being able to create a dump file (when presssing the "press any Key" button to launch the battle

    I would relaunch the game and it woiuld work but since yesterday it wont

    i uninstalled and reinstalled the mod but still not working

    tried launchng the normal version of the game and it launched

    if you have any ideas would be glad for feedback

    So, does this mod work for single player campaigns, then? Sounds like it might, based on descriptions of the "AI being improved", but had to check.
    Am not a big multiplayer myself, and I just can't bring myself to play base-building in the campagins, either...this might be the only mod that helps with that.

    @Glabro - Sorry, but our mod is not compatible with Single Player Campaigns. Although it *Might* work with them, in most cases it will crash at one point or another and it most certainly does not offer an enjoyable experience.

    However, custom maps/SCAR Coded maps and our AI for Skirmish offer a lovely experience for the player.


    Be sure to try it out, you'll enjoy the fair challenge!

    Oh. That's a a shame. I've been playing the Men of War series lately, but issues with ammo micromanagement and general difficulty make it hard going.

    Do you think it's possible just to have a mini-mod where you only have a command post-sort of HQ tent which can call in any units, in lieu of having to build tank factories on the front, research labs or what have you...I just don't care for that sort of thing.
    For the campaign, that is?

    Sadly, No.

    The mod itself is stalled until our main coder (Sweeten) returns, if he does not we are stalled indefinitly.

    Managing this mod and keeping it going is a challenge as it is, no need to add to that with a mini-mod.

    Moreover, you need to make everything compatible with the Campaigns before you even try to modify things like base buildings and the like.

    In 2.0, the player still builds buildings but all units come off map.

    That's the closest thing you're going to get to it, really.

    Sadly, it is not released. If you can code it yourself however, feel free.

    All right, thanks for letting me know. I won't go into trying to learn how to code for CoH at this point, I'll just wait for the sequel and see if they haven't done something about it. I know there's a loud group of players who want the base building to remain, but I think they could accommodate everyone by simply making the multiplayer more traditional with base building (because that's what I assume what base builders care most about) and such but having the campaign be a bit more real (because that's usually what the non-base builders care first about). They could have both the "tactical" and "strategic" multiplayer modes included as well.

    But they'll probably just do the tired old base building for everything.

    The first post states that allot of the skins used in this mod are from the "Waffen Mod", then it gives a link to said mod; which seems to be down and most likely not currently compatible with the latest patch. It is not a skin pack. Please correct me if I am mistaken. I hope this helps.

    Is this dead? I checked the SVN revision and it's still the same. If someone could put up a new version without the bugs reported in that round of testing I did some time ago, I would be happy to test again

    It retains the same realistic feel (it's what I always liked about this mod), but the addition of sub-sub doctrines and the Soviets opens up a whole lot of new strategic options

    It is reasonably buggy at the moment however, but with some bugfixing, it should be ready for a release (IMHO).

    Sounds really good Khannis.I also like the fight of this mod.The A.I is probably the best.I hope it's still that way.As I recall in 1.7 it was.Sweeten ,agameanx ,uberbugz ,warnstaff ,cpt combat.One hell of an A.I team.Hopefully there be some bug squashin.Its been alot of effort for sure.It would be a shame for it not to be released.Thanks for the feedback Khannis

    @Alliance Navy:hi there...well I think @ []inveigle[] gave you a pretty nice and resumed answer...the link to the skins on the first post is dead since that site no longer exists,so as the original creator thread,the Waffen Mod was one of his major and final works...his other stuff can be found somewhere around here in the Armory, some links in his thread of other stuff may also be dead so don't get disappointed if they really are gone,the creator has been out of CoH for a while and well I don't think he's coming back anytime soon.

    @Khannis:Well,I hope not my friend though we need to be realistic...@sweeten hasn't logged in for like 3 months,it really has been a while since the last SVN update, I don't know what to say since I have been out of CoH for a while too,let's hope that this isn't the end of N44 or worst,I really hope @sweeten is fine.

    On a side note directed to all the N44 team and mod teams:my PC recently broke again(damn I reeeeally need to get a new PC or maybe make a damn backup ) and everything I have worked on for the last 3-2 years(since I started playing and modding CoH)and and that also includes every sound and every sound mod I have made for the mods out there could be already lost
    If that's the case then I think I'm gonna loose all hope on human kind and say goodbye to CoH for a loooong time,my apologies for the mods that asked help with sounds or for the ones I offered my help and ummm...I don't know what else to say but send my best wishes and the best of luck to everyone out there still playing and modding CoH...in any case if I get repaired my PC and I still have my CoH stuff then of course I'll continue working on modding CoH,so this isn't a definitive final goodbye but a "we'll see about that later" or a "see you later guys" or whatever

    What I don't understand is, why some modders don't publish the work they have already done from time to time to the community so that it is possible that work out of month or years get lost forever?!?

    In this forum I've found so many wunderful things (nowadays absent) modders have done in the past and are worth to get additional work that are impossible to download cause of inactive d/l links or never uploaded and maybe lost forever... That always makes me sad cause I know how much time and work is behind such modifications...

    @Gamerisin, I am sorry to hear that. I went through that recently and it is no fun. Now I run a 2TB drive just for backups. You seem to be taking it all in stride. If you hear from Sweeten, please let him know we wish him well.

    @firefish:I totally agree with you but have in mind that some creators such as skinners got banned,I'm not gonna say who or what they did or they didn't do to get banned...then again some mods went dead when the team had much more important things to do and I mean RL stuff wich is obviously more important to any of us.

    @Everyone - I'm sure Sweeten is fine; I think he simply has decided to take a break/stop working on the modification. I've devoted my freetime to Blitzkrieg Mod as of now; as I cannot code very well so all of my abilities are in debate and balance on the forum; and Doctrine reworks.

    When will you guys allow us to play the campaign in this mod? mission2 vierville evrytime i try to reinforce my paratropper squad it freezes and i can't call in paratroopers nor can i get the hidden paratrooper squads either... so willy ou guys do suppoort for them?

    Most mods don't support campaign, the only one I know of that does is Europe at war.

    Btw this is an example of the ones which do not support campaign.

    I appreciate all the support and well wishes I have received over the years, and it's been a great ride (and no I am not dead ).

    But I have to say it's not lack of time that's kept me away. My experiences have led into a new "higher calling" in life for lack of a better term. I haven't had a single moment when I have considered working on it, and there are MANY other things that I want to do that I haven't gotten to. I want to work on my health, spend time with family, and work on helping the truly needy in all ways. I honestly cannot see me continuing to mod

    I invite any and all team members to release the Alpha "as-is" as I left it on the svn. It's a little buggy and a little unfinished, but it's better than nothing.

    So I guess this is my official retirement post. I leave the N44 legacy to the team, and anyone they can recruit to help. Just try and keep the same standards and ideals that started with SIG21_surgeon and were passed onto me.
