    Patch 1.2-Can Not Locate Game?

I downloaded the patch and extracted it. When I try to install it I am told that it's unable to locate the game... is there a way for me to like.. show it where to go? As in a Browse function? Similar to using mods?

EDIT- I facepalmed when I realized I didn't even install patch 1.1 yet... so i downloaded that as well, but I have the same problem with it. Neither patches can find the game, which leads me to believe that it's looking in a specific place for the game and not finding it.

So, I don't really know what to do.

Instead of downloading the patch normally, try going onto the game itself, the attempting to play online. The patch will download automatically, and then close itself down, followed by an automatic install. That *should* work.

Is your DC in the C/programfiles/thq folder, or have you moved it, without updating the registry?

If all else fails, try uninstalling, then reinstalling the game and see if that helps.

I've got this too. Damned annoying - almost as annoying as my PC not booting up with SS in the DVD tray. WHY?!?!??!

Varellian I don't think it goes by Dark Crusade. It goes by the original Dawn of War. Which I have, but it's the steam version. And if Blaxican and Fuggles have the disc version then it's not my steam version problem. When I get home I'm going to try and play online and have it auto update because I'm also having the same problem with it saying it cannot find my Dawn of War installation. And by the way, I've noticed that when ever you conquer a home base you get their power or whatever, but you don't get the option to use drop pods when you conquer the Blood Raven's base. Is it supposed to be that you can't use it or did someone pull a snafu and just didn't write it into the game, or did they finally (or going to) fix it in 1.1 or 1.2?

When the patches cannot find the game it means that either the registry entries for the game are missing or that the registry entry telling the game where it is installed is incorrect (if you manually moved the game to a different directory).

So, how do we fix that registry problem?

reinstalling is generally the easiest way to fix it...although if your problem is caused by the installlocation field being incorrect you can just go in and edit it yourself.

Well all my games are installed to c/program files/thq. But my digital downloads are in a different folder. Would that make a difference?

The location you chose to install the game is the one that counts...although I am not particularly familiar with the digital download versions of the game. I know Steam has an option to repair/verify any given game...what version are you using?

What version of Steam? I'm not sure. I added Dawn of War, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm to the list in Steam.

Hmmm, did the activation thing with Steam and it says my Dawn of War code is invalid.

No, I mean which version of digital download...the game is available on steam and a couple of other smaller services.

So, I take it you bought the game using steam? Try the repair function.

I didn't buy it with Steam. I bought it from Direct2Drive. And it's the Game of the Year Edition if that matters.

ok, so adding the game to steam won't do anything.

What is in the registry under THQ? (start > run > type "regedit" and click ok > press F3 and search for "THQ").

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for but all three games are under the THQ folder. Dawn of War and Dark Crusade both have the CC Key, game version, and install location listed, but Soulstorm doesn't have any of that. And I think that's what's wrong with it?

That sounds likely. Have you reinstalled yet? The registry values should be created when installing. If that doesn't work, you will need to find out what should be in there and create them manually.

I just uninstalled it and reinstalled it and went to my registry and everything was there. Popped the 1.00-1.10 patch and it started. So thank you TBS.
