To be honest, this is more common to what I usually do, I've just had a weird idea 3 mots ago "why don't do a game mod, I know absolutely nothing about it, but it can be an interesting challenge", so things like 3D animation, videos and After Effects are not a problem (I always have a problem with music, but that's a different story).
Phatboygeo: What do you mean by "Do what?", I didn't get it. This is just an ordinary same old artillery frigate and I've made this video actualy just to take some attention on moddb.

I see. And about the music, I could never create anything, but you're good. So when I'll make a video in a future, could you or would you like to make the music part of it? If no, it's ok, I'll stick with the HW2 and Black Hawk down soundtracks, but it would be really cool.

It doesn't matter what kind of music. I actualy prefer HW2 style for HW videos, but it's often too boring, so some DnB could be better, at least next time. But I am not planning any video soon, but I always make some short one, when I create something I like.

There should be an education version for just a fragment of price, but it's just for students for one year. But you don't need programs as Max, Maya or XSI, because Wings or Blender can do what you need. If you're looking for cheap and good modeling program, try Modo.
You dont need 3DS to model for HW2 anyway.

I personally use blender for portableapps, that works fine for me.
badarith simply means you have done something horribly wrong with the faces, also do remember you should not select and unwrap the entire model into the UV at once.

Agreed with pouk. On which I throw ANOTHER hair-brained ideas at you: A scout frigate.
A slower, more expensive solution to a probe, basically a frigate chassis with 2 hardpoints on them. You could load them both with sensors, and create a handy mobile 'listening post', or you could have one sensor and a light weapon (missile pod, flak / pulsar cannon etc) so the ship can defend itself if it gets found.
or something of a similar role. IMO there arent enough utility ships around.
I agree with aquemnun, special purpose vessels that don't count towards your ship cap but are helpful for strategic purposes would be nice

There will be a special purpose frigate (as opposition to VGR command frigate) and again, I was thinking about something similar to what you have. My plan was to have some kind of recon frigate which would have a cloak generator or a HS module (frigate class ships never had HS, I know, so I would have to do something to justify it -very expensive research or expensive or limited jumps if it's possible) ...and plus another buildable subsystem. (I say it again, amazing how similar ideas we have) But this can be just fine, a general but very customizable frigate will surely find a place here.
More utility or special purpose vessels in it's own unit cap it's a very nice idea. So throw some ideas what else special vessels there can be. For now I have this vgr Command frigate, which can do a lot of thigs, what depends on builded subsystem (it has a command ability and it can also have sensor distortion field or tiny short range grav. generator or adv. sensor array). If you have another special purpose ship idea or utility class vessel or platform, say it.

There are three groups of people. First group are people who don't know what this mod is about, and they have moddb. The second group is me and I know what I want to do with this mod, this thread isn't for me, it's for the third group and that's you people. And you have to decide what do you like. If you like to chat here, no problem, we can discuss practicaly anything and have fun or learn something. Or you can easily orientate in the news of the rearm development. But it's important to realise that you can't have both. Decide what is best for you and let me know, I have no problem with either.

Scout Frigate has always been a good idea in my head, it should be unarmed though, but isn't the Vaygr Command Corvette doing this job already? it's got a big sensor suite.
Other than the usual drone fighter ideas, I've always thought of a more expensive and advanced interceptor that engages multiple fighters at once, but far more expensive, making it a ideal time buying unit in tight situations.

About the last model - it`s alredy excists in the game. It`s hiigarian scout. A little bit different, but this is it.
But ok, this one can be named "Manaani interceptor" as manaani liked a lot high-maneurable and speedy scouts (light interceptors, originally) according to HW1 manual (as gypsies like horses).
MelvinVM: And who would have those interceptors? Vaygr should have more strikecrafts but I don't think this is technology they would build. So I think we are talking about Hiigarans, right?
Maybe both, the Vaygr would have a heavily armored assault craft as they simply clumped a far more powerful engine on it with heavier weapons while the Higarans designed a more maneuverable frame.

Yes, it`s not scout, but it has almost the same design in it as in scout.

I've always thought it was an early concept of the scout too, although the bottom one (earlier one) was probably intended to be more a light interceptor than a scout, in a HW1 fashion.
