    Just using the in mod artwork I've added the Knights of Gryphonne (they share the Howling Gryphons badge) and I've also started on the alternate scheme Raptors (Blue and Yellow). This brings me to the question, how easy is it to change the tem files to make an alternate set, I notice hangar-8 you did this? I'm having trouble seeing what changed in tem #5 due to the bug in the GIMP DDS plugin that doesn't show tem files properly.

    You should find a way to get photoshop then.

    Anyway tem files work like this, the channels them the game what part of the texture is colored by what color, red channel is the primary color, green second, blue third and alpha channel 4th. Which is why tem files look red, green and blue.

    Thanks Shuma, sadly mine are not red and green - just 5 black blobs from the pipe connectors on the chest plate, this is the bug in the plugin. I have PS, but just not on the PC I have with me at the moment, I guess I'll have to wait to get a shot at changing that.

    This is my chapter badge design for the Star Phantoms, this combines two seperate images. The star design is from the European Union Flag, the other is just a skull with iron cross motif. As there is no set design for the chapter badge or their color scheme.

    No I extracted your .sga and everything, edited the files I needed to...


    And now I can't find ONE ****ING WORKING .sga packer that is working on my Windows 7 64x system. If ANYONE knows of a working .sga packer for Windows 7 64x, please do share.

    I'm getting mad about every tool I'm trying failing.

    SGA Archive Tool

    @ Helpless, the custom badge will show up ingame for you. Unfortunately, the other player will not be able to see it due to them not having that particular badge mod. They will only see a big purple square where the badge would be.

    I am hoping, that when Retribution comes out. Hangar-8 will once again release another great badge mod with Imperial Guard badges.

    Well that's the thing.

    I tried that tool as well.
    Everything seems to work fine, but once I click 'create .sga' with all the folders and archive.exe set, it processes, and ends.
    When I check if the .sga is there, it just isn't.

    What exactly am I doing wrong?
    It just isn't there when it should be and it's driving me nuts.

    I appreciate the help, though.

    @ ElricDMelnibone I was going to write something, to help you out with the SGA Archiver. Server was busy, so could not post. Good to see you got it working.

    I am hoping they add a lot more badges to be included in the expansion. Could have it as dlc or included in an update or something. It is a shame they do not add the ability to create a custom campaign, or have custom units for different chapters/legions. Thousand Sons vs Space Wolves would be fun.

    Aye, very true about the badges and customisation.
    I doubt they add any badges in Retribution, but since it will be all Steam and no Microsoft, I have a slight hope for Downloadable Content... like new badges and army 'styles'.

    Retribution Beta info relating to this mod:

    Range Numbers are wrong.. I can fix this.
    To add all the chapters the mod WILL still need to be distributed as a SGA/UCS combo. The game saves custom armies in the playercfg.lua it seems. Overwriting that just isn't going to work. Good news is I think I can work it so that the mod can use loose badge files... meaning that they will be transferred during multiplay. I'll release a Retribution Beta version for people to test later, probably by this weekend.

    Skin alterations still work it seems (haven't seen anything out of the ordinary). This means Chaos can still teamcolour the pauldrons/heretic robes and cloaks/tabards. Noise Marines don't need editing.. the pauldrons are covered with stretched skin/faces completely covering any bits that might need paint.

    its like a black version from the blood angels badge...uhm
    just the single drop like that:
    a black gloss drop with a white border arround it or without 2 versions would be cool too choose which would be better.
    im sure u already have a drop badge inside ur mod...maybe u just need to over-work it xP

    Hi there.

    I have a suggestion/request for colour scheme for IG.

    Like a mod I used in DoW1 for IG. A mod that removed the cammo-pattern for IG Inf and Vehicles to make it plain and simple.
    I myself dont fancy cammo patterns that much, and loved that plain colours for my army. And I would be happy if there would come a mod like that for IG in DoW2. ^^

    @Existor: You can, but only artwork in the badges folder seems to be transferred during multiplay. Anything contained in the SGAs is ignored.. It's a bit of a problem for my mod so far. Possibly I'll have to include the badges loose as well as packed (SGAs helpfully do NOT reference badges in the badges folder, they have to be contained in the SGA.. sigh).

    @Azariah: I could manage that

    @Prince Damien: I was planning to rework the camo on the IG.. perhaps i can see about a plain version while I'm doing it. Probably be a good idea to remind me about the time I start releasing IG skins/badges

    But there are problem, that color schemes - we're need to recreate them. What if you will create color schemes, that will use badges from Documents/My games/Dawn of War 2 retri... /Badges/ folder? I mean, that color schemes will use files not from sga, then it will use from Badges folder?

    the drop from the angels encarmine would be awesome! just with the black gloss
    maybe a bit bigger (i hope the whole image will still look good cause i had some probs with increasing the image size sometimes before)
    so just increasing if the resolution/quality will look ok xP

    @Existor: Tried it, I have a mod in place for Retribution already and I've tested the games ability to link to files outside of the mod SGA... it fails. I'll find a work around for it, somehow

    Hi there Hangar-8.

    I wanna start this post by saying that I love your mod. It makes espacially the Chaos look alot better now with colour-able shoulders and more. Can make them look Exactly like my old Tabletop Chaos Marines.
    And I cant wait for you to start off with some Imperial Guard stuff.

    But now why I came here.
    Shuma have release a few mods for IG which I requested which replaces Stormtroopers with Kasrkins, a Kaskrin Helmet for Lord General.

    He also did a Beauty Guardsman mod (which I recommend for everyone to download, makes the IG so much prettier to look at).

    But since he used (as I think) the old IG models from DoW2/CR, the tone of the colours are darker then the Retribution's IG colours.
    So when playing with the mods it can be hard to see that the units have the same colours as the vehicles and HQ.
    And I wonder, if theres a way to alter the tone to make it match with the original tone. (I hope you understand what I mean, I'm not that good at explaining in english)

    I'm asking you because you made a few colour mods and thought you might know how to do.

    And no disrespect to you Shuma, I Love these mods.

    @Prince Damien: I intend to have a look at IG at some point, I don't like the camo pattern much.. I'll probably try to implement something similar to the splinter pattern camo I did for IG in DOW1. Adjusting the colour tone/saturation on the modded IG shouldn't be too hard so I can try and give it a go.

    @everyone else: I have a working Beta version of the mod ready for Retribution (I had to rework the range numbers as it wasn't working correctly, took bloody ages to redo all those entires!!). Anyhow, I am going to need a few testers. If you want to test the mod for Retribution, AND you play online matches (this bit is important), PM me. I won't be taking many testers, but I do need you to actually test it in online games and report back.. don't ask if you just feel like having a look :P

    Hey hangar like what youve done. just started looking at the color moding now since i play online alot more. was wondering if you would consider releasing a quick mod for retribution that unlocks all the colors for chaos trim pattern? without editing the other color schemes etc.

    Your current version also deletes all information on the Imperial Guard.

    This version isn't compatible with Retribution. It works somewhat imperfectly, and erases IG schemes (as there was no entry for them in the older game files.

    This does work with Retribution (had to rewrite all the range numbers and redo the file edits.. pain in the arse). Currently it does not unlock all the colours for that one area in Chaos schemes, that will come next week (busy weekend, I haven't been home). I'll open a new thread for the Retribution mod, as this one only works properly for the previous games.

    This version should have the IG schemes worked in already, and the badges in the pulldown link to the loose files in the badges folder, not the ones in the SGA, so at least user made schemes will work correctly online (my premade sets will still show the magenta square.. that bit isn't sorted yet ..sigh).

    Hanger, can you do me a major favor - and this might also apply to other people.

    Could you release a blank version of this mod? Just the extra badges, and colours, so we can get only custom race colouring in. I only play with my own colour templates, so the 50~ chapters you released are ones I don't even look at.

    Of course, if I'm the only one that wants this, you can ignore the request, but it would be nice ^.^

    I could do that. Having the extra chapters has become rather pointless. Before when badges weren't transferred it kind of made sense to have it as a mod, now it seems to have become a little cumbersome (having chapters in a pulldown AND having to recreate them for online play).

    It's been a busy week and many of my modding commitments have had to take a back seat (sorry guys, you know who you are..).

    Anyhow, the weekend looms and as busy as that is going to be I have been working on the mod. It'll be released in 2 forms.. The new default version will contain all the texture 'fixes' (depends on your point of view but includes things Relic forgot or left out), the colours but no pre set schemes. The 'lazy' version, will add all the extra schemes for you (and of course all the texture fixes), there's a small workaround you can do to get a selected scheme working online.

    Of the 2 versions, the new default will probably be the most compatible, I've had some people say that this mod can cause crashing in some online games, something I've not experienced myself before now (but I don't play online much), and something I'm at a loss to fix.

    Anyhow, people love pics:

    Simply select the scheme you want to use in an online game, click create new scheme and just rename it (like.. Alpha legion, choose the army, click create scheme, rename it Alpha Legion (O) save and then play). It just means anyone who can't be bothered to create a scheme can quickly use the presets to create an online compatible version in a couple of clicks.

    Not exactly the kind of fix I was hoping for..

    As an alternative, you might want to include a text file that would just tell us what to paste into playercfg.lua. That should work online. It would be slightly more work for the players, but it would also allow us to pick and choose which new color schemes would appear.

    that doesn't really work morat as the playercfg autogenerates itself.

    so that should work with your upcoming version? spending 20minutes going through and doing that isn't too bad to get online functionality =)
