    Legion of Damned

    from GW email this morning
"Today at Games Day Italy we unveiled the all-new metal Legion of The Damned models.

The Legion of The Damned are Spaces Marines in appearance. Their black armour is adorned with chilling images of bone and fire, and an eerie glow suffuses their sable armour and a halo of ghostly fire dances about their feet. Considered by some to be an extension of the Emperor’s superhuman will and by others as the vengeful and immortal spirits of fallen Space Marines, Damned Legionnaires fight with a chill precision few mortal warriors can match.

Out in January, the Legion of The Damned are an Elite Space Marine unit who can always Deep Strike and can even opt to re-roll the deep strike scatter dice. Also, their 3+ saving throw is invulnerable."

Cool, going to google and see if any images are up. I loved the old school metal LoD models.

While I do prefer multi-part plastic kits (for converting reasons) I'm actually quite happy they are metal since metal models seem much more "special" to me. Probably just me on this but it is true that you are more likely to take more time paitning something because its metal. Seems like a bigger deal somehow.

Im a bit...meh... on that model. theyve just nicked the base of the Mk6 marine from the sternguard unit, and added some whistles.

The 'ghostly fire' is no way as good as it could have been. par example, the new skaven range.

I want to make a chapter of them. They will be the Crimson Daemons, and will be red with green Witch-fire

Why crimson daemons then? Or just sticking with GWs standard naming scheme?

I reckon theyd be good as WH inducted SM.

I still want to see the rest of the models, though.

There wasn't anything wrong with the previous models to justify new ones..
    ...oh wait, they were OOP.
    Silly GW!
I'll totally get a box when they release them. Always a special place in my heart for the L.O.T.D.

Mmm, I hope at least some of the new models are 'homages' to the older ones, like they did with the librarians and chaplains, etc. The skull flail, bolter with combi grenade launcher wielding skull faced LOTD sergeant was always a cool model!

Going to use them as inducted SM for my Daemonhunters...if thats possible. Or just use them w/ my Shrike List I am comtemplating.

Thinking of going w/ the black color scheme, but make the fire green, green fire is coo, or blue...

I've been using my old 2d edition LotD army as codex Marines since I started playing 5th edition. There are 35 LotD model in my collection, not including a the old metal LotD Dreadnought I lost track of years ago. It was my eventual plan to convert some Sternguard over to LotD so I could add some newer models; thankfully, GW seems to have done just that with this new LotD release.

Lanchester Square Law, which stated that that the forces' comparative strength is not in numbers vs numbers or 1:2 but the square of the forces like 1:(2)4 or (2)4:(3)9 because not only do you have twice the firepower, but twice the survivability, meaning that if 1 Leman Russ is good, 2 is 4 times as good.
