    New Game Modes to Try (v3.0)

    Howdo,
    I've made a mod that adds new game modes to Dawn of War 2 and as no doubt like DoW1 there's a whole load of people who never look at the mod forums I thought I'd post it here to see what people think of the ideas at least, if they are not to try the mod... you never know, one of them may make it into DoW2 one day!

    **GAME MODES**

    Tug of War
    Tug of War is a slightly adapted version of the victory point win condition. The ultimate goal is still to drain the VP total of your enemy, however in Tug of War your VP total increases for each point that you own, allowing you to recover up to your initial starting points.


    Leech
    Leech is a halfway point between VP and annihilate. For every VP that you own, the enemy HQ's lose 10 hitpoints per second. This is not a huge amount, but combined with your attacks will bring them crumbling down.


    Take and Hold
    Take and Hold is an old favourite from DoW 1 reborn. If your team holds at least 2/3 of the VP's on the map then a 5 minute countdown begins. When this countdown reaches 0 then you win, however if you lose your VP's then it resets.


    Hero Incap
    In this mode each time has a number of lives which corresponds to the number of people on the team, so in a 3 vs 3 you will have 3 lives whereas in a 1 vs 1 you will have 1 life. Every time a hero on your team gets incapacitated then your life pool diminishes and when it reaches 0 then you lose! Note that the lives are shared so in a 3 vs 3 then one player could die 3 times, or each player perish once.


    Team Incap
    Similar to hero incap only that if one team has every player's hero incapacitated at once then they lose

    Panic!
    If your team have no victory points for 60 seconds then you lose

    Free for all
    As requested, it's annihilate, only it's every man/bug/ork/elf for themselves!

    Yes these actually sound fun, how about a steam group or so? Annihilate and VIP are still fun but get tired once and a while. Id be down to play this especially the hero one and old school take and hold sound great to me
    The Force Commander and I even visit the same barber, although I have a slightly better taste. Hair gel on calderas, how'd he swing that?

    Take and Hold is awesome.

    @fuggles: Did you tweak the AI? I've seen the enemy bosses using upgrades now, and when I've played the vanilla AI, it didn't seem to bother with the commander upgrades.

    should have tried a mod like the recent company of heroes tales of valor....its something like DoTA...hope that gets implemented as well.....=)

    Dude, the hero incap is FUN!!!
    I spend like 25 minutes chasing the enemy's commander, really exciting. I ended up having to go to their base to finish the sonofabitch off! Fun as Fuck!!!

    @Weyseer: The thing is DOTA (and so on) requires a specific map for it, and is a complete departure from regular gameplay. These are more of different win conditions, like in the original DoW.

    Team incap sounds like it'd be bloody fun to have a human 3v3 for.

    actually, you don't really need new maps, but if you want new maps, there is always the custom maps online.
    I tried it and it work prefectly on normal maps

    Thanks, Fuggles. I will try this out tonight. One question: does the mod include a true "free for all" mode? That is, can you have more than 2 teams where each side is trying to destroy the others? If so, does the AI understand this win condition enough to know to fight everybody?

    yeah, each player is there own side so 4 players = 4 way fight etc.

    The AI certainly attacks everybody, but I've only really tested that it works against a group of normal muppets.

    **How to play**
    Setup Instructions:

    1. Extract to your Dawn of War 2 folder, which will probably look something like this:

    ..\Steam\steamapps\common\dawn of war 2

    2. Open Steam
    3. Select "My games"
    4. Right-click on Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
    5. Select "Properties"
    6. Select "Set launch options"
    7. Write the following:

    -modname fuggles

    Now in game choose a multiplayer-> Custom game and you will see the new victory conditions in the drop down menu.
