[GAME] ModThing 1.1 - Update in post #432!
("GAME" obviously refers to the game/expansion that the mod is for; list both the mod name and the version number in the title. A reference to the most recent in-thread update should be included as well.)

First post:

Hi there, and welcome to my mod, ModThing 1.1. This is a mod for the Relic Forestry Simulator 1.4.
(List the name of the mod, the version that the mod has reached, and both the game and the version/patch that the mod is designed for/compatible with.)

Links:

Link to the latest version
Hotfix to keep Aspen Pines from eating lumberjacks
(Obviously, your first post should contain a link to the latest version of your mod that is available. You may choose to link to older versions as well, or have multiple link mirrors. Any hotfixes or addon content should be listed as a separate link to make sure that everyone will be able to download both the mod and it's hotfixes/addons.)

Features of the mod include:

- New tech tree that adds Albino Lumberjacks to T1
- Addition of Douglas Fir as a harvestable tree
- Removal of the Rodents of Unusual Size
- Revamped economy in which you now get an extra $5 for each tree harvested
- Et cetera and so forth
(A convenient listing of the major features of the mod should be included so that those who may be interested in the mod don't have to search through the entire thread in order to find out what the mod is supposed to do.)

Progress updates:

Picture of the Douglas Fir
Listing of the new tech tree
Details about the new economy
Misc. other update
(Updates in the thread should be linked to in the first post; this can be done by clicking on the post number of the update and then copying the URL of the new window that opens. This allows people who are new to the mod to see all of the updates that you have posted without having to search the entire thread. Pictures may be included in the first post which also appear elsewhere, but so long as they are linked to in the first post they are optional.)

Other stuff:
Visit the forum for my mod at Forumaddress. I've also included other information here because I'm allowed to so long as it actually pertains to my mod; while mod threads need to have a certain amount of information in the first post, this doesn't mean that they have to be dry and boring with just that information. Flavor text, quotes, and pretty much anything else that's still related to the mod but that makes the first post interesting can be included so long as the first post contains the minimum of information required by the rules.
(In the end, it's your mod thread... have fun with it. You don't have to follow a cookie-cutter template with no variations; include promotional pictures, flavor text, or whatever else you wish so long as the post contains the necessary information and doesn't stray from the actual topic of your mod. This template isn't designed to prevent you from expressing yourself in your own mod thread... it's instead designed to make sure that there is a minimal amount of information in a convenient place for those who aren't familiar with your mod.)
Updating the First Post:

Whenever new updates are posted in the thread, the first post should be updated to include links to them. The title should also be updated to include the post number (not the page number) of the new update. When new mod releases are made, both the first post and the title should be updated with the new version number. Important news and features updates should be mirrored in the first post as well as the thread post where they are announced so as to make sure that the first post of the thread remains up to date with the latest information about your mod.

Finally, would all mod leaders ensure that the first post of their current mods are updated as soon as possible. is done with all their current mods as soon as possible.
