Got the game and installed.. And I get a "Game Failed to Activate" rebuttal. Any fix for this?

ufff... so I was not the only one...
kirbanator, cobaltlotus: there is a file named "warnings.log" in the soulstorm directory. If you open it, you will get a list of stuff going on during the game. At the end, after thousands of lines, you will get something like "MOD -- Fatal Data Error for 'modifiers\cost_requisition_modifier.lua' - the target entity type 'inquisition_shock_troops' does not exist!". This is the fatal error that make the game crash in my computer. Could some of you two check this?
If it is so, then the problem lays (IMHO) in two missing folders in C:\...\THQ\Dawn of War - Soulstorm\DoC\data\attrib\ebps\races. There are researches, addons and even sbps entities asking for ebps entities under "Inquisition" / "World Eaters" races... but there are not such folders in the ebps.
I tried to add mock rgds using Corsix (copy-pasting similar rgds and creating the missing folders from scratch), but after 50+ rgds () I got an "Access Violation in module WXPMod"... which I don´t know how to solve.
Could someone check this and give a download link? I got a Megaupload account, I can upload a mirror.

PS: Obviously you can muck around with my mod on your own time but posting up altered versions at this early stage before you have all the relevant information is only going to confuse matters and it should be pointed out that while i don't care what you do with my CODE the 3d assets that are in DoC are only in there by very special permission in most cases so while I don't care you CANNOT upload a different version of my mod without first consulting me so i can inform you of what needs to be removed/inquired about with other parties etc![]()

le fu. Just in time for when I get a working DoW capable computer. Anyways I'm in doubt if this laptop could stand THAT much graphics, it may not even run on this comp. Just out of curiosity, is there a minimum recommended system requirements for this mod? I am working on the hosting right now. People have asked for different mirrors a possibility I am looking at. Also, Ironwarrior and I have taken this opportunity to test out a patch system that will not cause game crashes (do remember that this is still an alpha release) and updating the direct download. But until I get my gaming desktop back I won't even bother downloading this mod, since the only way of getting DoW framerates above 20 with this laptop is with EVERYTHING on its absolute minimum setting. Except sound. Still,.

This issue you guys are having with missing files seems like a problem i've had many a time, what is most likely happening is that whoever is uploading the files actually has them split in two areas of his computer, They appear fine to him because he has both but what he uploads is only in his program files, the rest might appear in his appdata/local/virtualstore if it's like my computer. This is because his modding program most likely likes to put anything he alters with in there in stead of where it's actually from. To fix it simply take the files within the appdata and ovewrite what is in your program files, then upload.
This might not be the problem but I figured i'd throw that out there. I really want to try this mod out, hell maybe I could help you progress with modding.

Turns out our progress has been slowed due to Ironwarrior's recent operation. He has an infection running amuck and we are waiting for it to improve. But we are still refining the code for the downloads. They will be posted at that time.

I'm sure you will by far exceed my expectations. I can barely fit in my head the level of awesomeness this mod provides with THAT much races, no to mention its future releases.

I know this is really not a good time, but this is frustrating. Now that I got a PC capable of running DoW mods at maximum settings with almost no lag, I also confirmed I've got a somehow incomplete 7z file. When I open the 2 Gb compressed thing, 7-zip itself says that the uncompressed size is 26.4 Gb.
I've read that it's actually above 30 Gb and also compared the md5 checksums and I got a corrupted download or something.
I downloaded it to my OS partition with 36 Gb free, and extracted it to directly to my games partition, which has 60 Gb left after the mod, so that's not the problem.
So, I'll have to wait. Get better Iron Warrior, we all eagerly wait your return. I trust that a simple infection won't prevent you from modding, and in any case, you can always embrace Nurgle.
But really, get well dude, you're a remarkable modder (a mod this huge proves it).

Unrelated note: Is the installation of the mod as simple as extracting the DoC folder/module into my Dawn of War - Soulstorm folder? Or is there more? :\
Ur best bet is to wait for when we get the cleaned up DL posted and delete what you have atm, new DL would probably be up now if not for this stupid post-op infection <_<. Sol will be able to give a more informative answer when he's available to post later today.

Hey. I would just like to update you guys on what is happening behind the scenes. We are working diligently towards our relaunch due the previous bugs encountered, which caused the previous download to be irreparably broken.
But with the relaunch we will have integrated in new maps (Courtesy of Torzel), new icon sets (From Tiego), and Chius's SCAR idea for the "vanilla" maps. Also, we are hoping to have fixed the bugs in our patching system.
Anyway, feel free as always to ask a question here and Ironwarrior or I will do our best to answer. Though our replies may be a little slow coming due to my homework situation and Ironwarrior is having continued medical problems. Ironwarriors' orthodontist has seen him for his recurring infection and he found a "mass that is probably just a stone" in his right salivary gland. He goes in on the 25th for a biopsy. Let us all keep his speedy recovering in our minds.

Let´s see it this way: it is actually good that someone got a medical explanation for a recurring infection. It is a good step towards recovery. The faster you get a good diagnosis, the faster you get well.

Biopsy of infected salivary gland is tomorrow, feeling a little better today but overrall no change.
As for a proper release the longer it takes me to replace my assistant coder the longer it will take for the release to be realized, so I can't really say with any certainty atm. Im also still waiting to hear back from Torzel about the DoC maps he's working on but (of course) he's been incommunicado.

@IronWarrior: I have noticed that in DOC, the WH_AS are included as a playable race. Moreover, it includes changes and new stuff that was not available even in the first beta release of the WH mod!!! (indeed, very good work guys!). So, I would very much like to ask if it is possible for other parties to get the same permission as you did, in order to incorporate WH in their mods.

After all, DOC is in the top 5 list of the most eagerly expected MODS for most DOW player I know. Keep up the good work. However, I'm playing the your alpha release (fortunatly I have downloaded it before the link become offline) and I have encountered a thing that I don't know if it is a bug or else: in the kroot race the 'Flying Kindred' (I don't remember if this is the exact name)(the kroots that have the vespids models) constantly 'fly' above the battlefield and only few units can shoot at them (when I tried to play whit the Armoured Company, only the Hydra can fire at them).
This is a bug or it is intentional?

usually its not intentional. however, there is a maximum angle a unit can fire at. if the air unit exceeds the maximum upward angle, then the unit you want to shoot it down can't fire at the air unit.
but the hellhounds and the manticores can't shoot at them even whn the flying kindred are arriving.
isn't the manticore like a nuke launcher? and aren't infero cannons like short range? for inferno cannons, the height for air units have been increased to maybe over 20 in height, so it can't shoot it since the max range for the inferno cannon is like 20. manticores generally aren't anti-air units....
an they are extremely difficult eliminate: I have created 7 hydras and I have ordered them to concentrate fire on the flying kindred and when all of them were killed I had lost 5 hydras, 2 manticores and 3 hellhounds and one of the hydras has been havily damaged.
hence the saying: "air units are bugged". don't act surprised. even the unmodded ones were bugged. at least these ones allow us to go to other places in the map.![]()
@Daffy, Manticores are artillery platforms and arty can't target flyers in DoC, in fact many weapons cannot, for that u need weapns like Autocannons, Heavy Bolters, Las Cannons, missile luanchers, turrets and lp's. Now on the other hand a squad of Vulture Kindred are NOT meant to wreak that much havoc 7 hydras should have been overkill, most likely the Armoured Company Hydras weapons have an armour penetration bug. Try facing Kroot with some of the other IG regiments and see if they have as much trouble would be my recommendation.
Edit: My bad, i was thinking of Harakoni Manticore platforms, the Armoured Company Hydra variants missiles should be able to target flyers.
Is there any download links or is it in private testing right now?
@IronWarrior: ok, I'll try to face the kroot with the space marines (they have more firepower than the guardsmen)...
