Can I play CoH without the CD in the drive?

If yes, please advise me how.

    Thanks.

Yes. If you log in to Relic Online, you no longer need the disc in to play.

but it only works when you are connected to the internet, otherwise you cant connect to Reliconline and therefore you cant play without the disk

Also sometimes the CoH servers are down and then you will also need your CD. Any other time that you are connected to the internet you can play without the CD.

also your account needs a valid cd key so that you can register. If your CD was brought new you should not have a problem. Second-hand may be ok but depends if the key has been registered before.

Install CoH (Vanilla) and patch to version 1.71, which was the last patch before the security came in. You can then play the original campaign and skirmish maps with no DVD

The downside is you obviously cannot play online nor use the units from ToV or OF but I actually prefer the vanilla game without the expansion packs.

& you can always do 2 installs of the game if you want multiplayer, one patched to date and one patched to 1.71.

there are many programs that allow you to copy a CD or DVD
(YES - it IS legal to do, for your own personal use)
even the ones that have tight security controls
you then get a virtual CD drive program (again - there are many)
then you 'mount' the copy of the CD/DVD
I have been doing this for 10 years (ie no real CD/DVD in the drawer)
you still need to OWN the original game and have the CD key
(this is also why I do not DL games - often a hassle to prove you did it when you want to upgrade your system

Install the original CoH and manually patch offline to 1.71, then move the entire game over to another location on your harddrive.
Then install OF, CoH Gold, CoH Anthology, or ToV and then patch online to 2.601.
Manually create a shortcut for the moved version, 1.71.

If you want to play a post-OF version (eg, 2.301), it's essentially the same process but you need to insure your computer is offline when you play or at start of game - to get past the prompt for updating.

Basically, you have multiple copies of CoH installed. So, it will take at least twice as much harddrive space to accomplish this.
