    Hello to all

    We are a small group of well established Long term Modders, and we like to Mod.

    We have been Tinkering with Coh,Of and recently "Converted" to 2.06 TOV (With reluctance)

    We admire ALL the Coh mods and truly admire all the "Artist skinners" who work for the community.

    We decided it was time to put something back into the forum as we have been gleefully using all the superb skins and mods that are available.


    We are Wargamers and like to play a Wargame type sim rather than RTS.
    We have slight sight probs so we make Badges, equip ect a Little larger than usual.
    We Like a slower more tactical game----------------------so we have a keyboard press system to slow or speed the game up as we wish.

    Our Infantry squads and Platoons have adapted coding attached-they can Walk,Run or Hold a Position---------------Formations are completely redone and react totally differently.

    We have a new type Hide and camo system and ambush system (The enemy WILL hide and ambush you) specially for the specialist troops Like Lovats commandos or the Nato M.O.UT teams and sas and insert teams.

    And we have a New AI to run all this-some of it quite Radical

    There is a lot of new content in these mods, which we feel would benefit the community as a whole----we hope!

    Rules of Engagement Mod (RoE) (Updated to ROE 5)

    This is RoE Alpha.
    based on Wildgeese it has been substantially altered to a different mod.

    Based on UN forces containing NATO Factions
    USA forces
    V
    Balkan forces
    and
    Rebels/Terrorist and Extremest forces (Now left Generic to avoid offence)-------------But they are substantial with
    "Cells" iEDS---------------------coding to accomodate this New type of play--------------------and UN/Nato forces can field a "Cadre" of specialist groups to counter act these along with UK and BUNDS forces.

    Coding new and old has been created to accomodate this new play ---especially where building/urban combat is concerned.

    Only inf and a few light vehicles are involved.

    Special forces from sas to seals have had extra attention.
    New munitions including anti -building weapons to CS gas have been created

    Although balancing has been a nightmare (Specially with ieds) we have managed to accomodate all types.
    The game is now playable
    We need to obtain approval from another mod team for use of some assets
    If obtained then we will provide screenshots.

    Its really a Mod re UN/nato light assets against Insurgients and Terrorists or Balkan incurrsions--you have the choice in the trees.

    Looks pretty cool, but the modern stuff could really use some modern gun models. The Zombiemod people have made lots of modern guns, perhaps you could borrow some, with permission?

    we also have a much more modern jeep im not too fussed about you using our models, however, you will need to get Aidas and Demo's permission aswell, as they are mostly their models/skins

    I let u use all my models,we also have a M113 apc and a 5T Usa Truck, ask Burton and DemoSS now. Also I'm interested in the Platoon mode. By the name I judge that its something like Europe in Ruins, where u call in huge platoons of units? or something like that?

    Thankyou for your interest.

    Re the comments about Modern weapons you are all right, The modern weapons from the Zombie mod are spectacular and would be a huge leap for us.

    At present we have "Modified" ingame weapons and vehicles to suit our needs.
    we have modified Fx and sounds and coding for all the weapons so they behave correctly if they do not quite "Look" the part.

    We have added a multitude of era weapons inluding ATGWs portable and vehicle,
    Underslung and m40 grenade launchers, Combat shotguns Full range of British weapon loadouts,--------------all with proper sounds and Fx.

    But yes, they are still "make does" as far as models go

    So I thank Aidas and Uccido for their very kind offer, and hopefully we can Benefit each other in someway or form------------we will be in contact

    Again-Thankyou.

    Updated Lists re the Three mods will be posted on first Post.(Uccido, Platoon has a Base of a Rifle Squad of 6-------------------and up to 4 squads (24) in a platoon with new formations and squadAi--------------and Sqdrns of vehicles from 2 to 4 with proactive ai-------------this is the Base of platoon)

    DemoSS what can i say!!!
    Yes we Alpha deleted parts from the shreck--------it makes a passible ATGW (Fx and sound changed) we also alphad the Faust for a passible LAW and others for Mounted TOW-----we make do and mend as they say.

    And that Marine----------well it says it all really!!
    Excy camo scheme (The New USA scheme i take it)
    Love the Helmet and attachment (Puts our sunshades in the shade so as to speak!!)------------Yes we are impressed!!!
    we will quietly go away now and Shoot ourselves!!

    I want to say that the night vision goggles has already used in two other mods, but the left guy could be used in your mod without any problems. Maybe you need to put some insignia, badges and flags on it..

    Also I don't mind to use the weapons I did for the Zombie Mod. But the Mod's leader is Burtondrummer - so, maybe he wants to leave those weapons as an exclusive for the Zombie mod, I don't know. Can you write the list of the weapons you wish to use? Cause some of them (like the AT weapons) could be made for your mod if I would have time for it.. (I'm thinking of the SVD right now )

    The Americans look alot like the Germans, which is understandable as we use the same helmet that the Germans used to. I must say it looks awesome, I've been waiting a long time for a modern warfare RTS. If Relic would make something like this I would probably buy it the first day it came out.

    well CoH: Modern Combat is a total conversion, but we're yet to have a beta for it due to wanting everything modelled etc to a high standard before releasing rather than doing dodgy reskins and "pretending" with existing relic models (dont mean to sound pretentious, but thats simply how we're working it)

    mind you MC focuses on a US v China scenario aswell

    Welcome to the thread uccido.

    CoH: Modern Combat is shaping up very well. And we expect it to be an awesome mod - when it achieves release.

    Unfortunately, we don't have the availability of a modeller to create new units - so without that resource, our retextured CoH models are the best our small mod team can offer at the present time. Mind you, I believe our texturer has done a truly magnificent job in making those WW2 models look as modern as they do.

    But a large portion of the thrust of our mods is contained in the coding and features of the mods. A lot has been achieved - with much more still to be revealed, and explored.

    Mind you our modern troops are the best CoH modern troops I have actually played with "in-game" so far. And they fill their roles exquisitely well.

    And we are truly happy to be able to add to the great work DemoSS has been doing with his texturing. He is a texturing "guru", and a huge inspiration !!!

    Its a small mod (the smallest of the three) but it has enough content to give you and idea of the "style" of mods we make.

    In answer to queries

    Hello All

    we had a couple of emails re some of the gameplay in Squadleader.

    To save repetition and to help we post the answers here.

    1. Why do some vehicles refuse to retreat when on fire and engine damaged.
    A:--------It depends on the severity of the damage-------its cumlative-------the first hit could cause Critical Yellow damage engine and a second hit Red critical----in which the vehicle cannot move-------it will still fire and if repaired a little will return to base. Some damage is Non critical yellow.

    A red critical Maingun is a compulsary retreat regardless.

    2.why do my squad stop fighting when administrating Morphine

    A: depends on the skill of the squad----------an Able or Baker squad or veteran squad------can and will give covering fire.

    3. How do some squads leapfrog and others wont
    A: Based on squad AI---------better they are the more they will use tactics.

    4.Why to some "Cautious" toggled units refuse to leave cover when ordered to

    5. Again Squad AI comes into play along with formations-----when given the cautious approach they are "Extremely reluctant" to leave cover Their animations change too. simply cancel the toggle "cautious Move" and they will react normally and probs scatter all over the place--pronto!!

    6.When the ai makes a Pnz gren halftrack with Gren and squad support Mortar---------the Grenadiers dismount but the Mortar stays on board-------so i have Mg42 and Mortar fire from the halftrack against me.
    A: It has that ability IF enemy are within 50 sight-------otherwise it will dismount.

    Squadleader is a definite keeper for me, you were right about the long lasting games.


    I was playing Hochwald gap and due to the fact I gave myself a hard and 2 normals opposed to the 4 normals on the Allied side, we soon pushed them back and had them cornered at the bridge.

    However, they kept attacking through the smaller bridge, constantly causing pressure on the main invasion force and occasionly pushing us back, before I called in Nebels and blew those infantry blobs away.

    Very fun mod, nice work

    Ehh I liked it; but its impossible to play; it crashes way to often inside the game. First time it happened when I built the Able squad for AB. The other times I don't know why.

    Wow, it's awsome what you did with your coding skills!

    I really love the reduced speed, this way CoH looks to damn amazing, but I don't like your weapon stats...

    Therefore I hope sweeten will add it to N44.

    I actually enjoyed the welcome pace, for example I spent a good portion of an hour constantly counter-attacking the right side island of Hochwald gap, despite having tanks and plenty of infantry in support, they kept countering with their limited bazooka and rifle squads (They had no resources apart from the manpower), the pace felt like a war, and when I finally did gain a secure foothold, I thought 'Goody, one battle over, another about to be fought.'
    But then I built 4 Nebels and bombarded their HQ territories into oblivion, most of my nebels had around 70 kills, was brilliant.

    I also didnt encounter any crashes... and out of curiosity how long before the other 2 mods are up and about? Cant wait to play Company of Heroes with a modern feel, its what Iv always wanted.

    Hello Niftyeye,

    Thanks for the great report. Played with the slower speed setting it gives more time to enjoy what you can see, and plays more like a wargame. For those who like the feel, it produces lots of satisfaction.

    IrisDane - I have played quite a few games with all the development versions - and the release version - and never experienced even a hint of a CTD. So I can't think what your problem might be. The only comment I can make, is that it could be clashing with some custom changes you have made to your CoH install. Otherwise - I'm affraid it's a mystery to me.

    Regarding your questions Niftyeye - Wild Geese might be coming your way quicker than you think. But that's all I can say on the subject at this time.

    What I can say, is that Wild Geese is currently my personal favourite. Modern warfare, in CoH, is a refreshing change. We hope you like it a lot - when it is released.

    Ok, Im not very good at providing feedback so bear with me.


    I received the mod last night just before I went partying to decided to have a quick blast, naturally I played as my home country the British.

    Started with a 'Forward Recon Section' of 6, which I began capping the map with, my 2 USA Allies also began building up, while the enemy naturally did the same.

    The AI seemed fine, the enemy gave me a challenging match (and actually beat me earlier when I versed hards).

    Overall, the Allied Forces have smaller squads but with a LOT more firepower, my British Unit of 4 for example was sitting in green cover for most of the game, yet was killing so many, the units and weapons are generally re-skins, but this doesnt detract from the overall fun.


    Something else I love about the mod is that every faction naturally has automatics, it was a nice change from the single shot karbine rifles or M1 Garands, every squad is capable of laying on a lot of firepower if you let it.

    Although I mentioned the AI earlier, the AI of your own unts is also improved, I instructed 2 squads to attack the enemy, one hung back and providing fire while the other slowly went from cover to cover, eventually getting close and killing the enemy, whether the vanilla AI does this or I just happened to notice because I was instructed to remains to be seen.


    Brings me to combat, its a lot more slow paced yet still fun, if 2 units fire at one another from behind cover, there will be little or no kills for a long period of time.

    An example is on the 'Invasion' map where a Serbian Patrol of 6 was plugging away at my infantry section from behind sandbags, because they caught my unit in the open it lost a couple of men before it made it to cover and returned fire. A shoot-out occured for 4 or 5 minutes with no kills, so I took action by ordering another fireteam to flank and shoot the enemy's exposed rear, in about 10 seconds every enemy soldier was nailed.

    This takes me to the units, from the all-too-common US Marines to the not-so-common NATO Security Forces, they are varied and helpful, and fill their roles perfectly.

    A Nato Security force for example consists of 8 soldiers all armed with scoped semi auto rifles (the only non-automatics in the game I think), effective in buildings or range, but suffer close up.

    These are some of the largest squads bear in mind and are naturally expensive, a British Fireteam consists of 4 Soldiers, usually a couple with SA-80s (I assume, they are reskinned M1 Carbines ingame.) while the other has a machine gun and a marksman I think. Serbian forces tend to be larger, but not as effective as their smaller but heavier armed counterparts.

    There are vehicles in the game, although they are expensive to field, and if you arent careful, easily lost. A nice addition is Warriors for the British Faction, they come with a squad of 8 and pack a lot of firepower.

    Meanwhile the Serbians have armour all throughout the game, however the Allies have to wait before they unlock theirs in the later tiers.

    Im finding the mod extremely addicting at the moment, the change of pace, inclusion of modern units, and general different gameplay mechanics makes a fantastic change, while it has a few bugs (nothing major and no crashes so far) which I will go back and find soon, this mod definetly has me hooked.

    Excellant work!

    I think the trees also need to be worked on, for example I got a laugh when playing as the Serbians when I encountered a WW2-Era Priest complete with WW2 Era Soldiers They stood no chance against RPGs.

    Added the "Hide" ability-automatically used when any unit enters building (Reveal depends on vetrancy)
    Added "Squadleaders"------------independant , may be attached to units, can weapon switch in battle using a prefered weapon--then switch back to original. Hero types if you like!
    Added New reinforcement system-------------never know exactly what you get, and armour comes with support.
    Added new "Zone" animation/movement (Hold removed----now part of automatic movement type---based on zones and cover.
    AI attached ( slight changes to accompany this partic mod)
    Upgrades may change the units uniform and variability
    Cap allowed to "Borrow" ahead (Defecit to be paid as game progresses)
    Armour Behaviour changed and added to
    Other alterations ---cant remember!

    Major work still going on for WILDGEESE, PLATOON, and FALKLANDS WAR.
    But well ahead.

    This looks interesting. Could you please give more details on how to install? I am one of those who need ste by step instructions eg Do I save the file to COH or somehere else and then run the autoexec to load in COH etc etc

    EDIT: Couldnt you make something, that the english ucs will be used for german version too?

    Nice feature, the cautious move mode, but when the units are retreating, they move also that slow

    Great Work!!

    Im still testing out advanced squad leader but im finding what i see so far to be very impressive. Also some of the elements that you have implemented can save me alot of time because i wont have to reinvent the wheel all over again which allows me to spend more time on developing other areas of interest in game mechanics and unit veterancy that I am currently overhauling and fine tuning i also employ an open modding policy with my mod and will share its work/knowledge with your team in order to contribute to your efforts out of respect for your hard work and dedication in parting great job guys and thank you for contribution to the community its very appreciated.

    Install instructions.
    1. download file to desktop (or any other place for that matter)
    2. its a rar file--------------------so unpack it with rar-------------------use default destination ( if its downloaded to desktop then it will unpack to desktop)
    3. You now have a folder called "Advanced squadleader" staring at you
    4.Open this folder and you will see a folder called Advanced_squadleader, a star (shortcut) a module file ,and a autoexec file, and a readme file.

    5, DRAG the "Star" onto your Desktop and leave it there-------------------its a shortcut to the mod

    6. DRAG the rest of the contents (Minus the star) and drop them into your
    c/programsfiles,THQ folder (Or wherever you installed tov---the default is THQ folder)

    7 that is it----------------------double click on the "Star" you left on your desktop to start the game

    some custom maps not showing

    Hi

    as per the title, some custom maps which show up in COH vanilla do not show up in your mod. Is there a fix for this?

    Have you tried putting -dev on the target line? Thats what used to make me slip up.

    Thanks, but no as I am running COH vanilla w/o -dev also I thought I read somewhere that -dev didnt work anymore.

    In the readme:

    "2. Hold is timed (AI will use)--------------------defence and offence benefits-----and greater sight-----------------used in combos with mortars (ai will use) is deadly"

    I just played a game as axis (defensive doctrine) but I didnt notice/figure out how Hold works or is it limited to races'doctrines chosn?

    I like the slow down button - need to explore more how it works. Will probably watcha replay to see this

    Well if you have the Mod working in Vanilla Coh we are suprised! and well done.

    Both Squadleader and Advanced squadleader were made specifically for TOV 2.601

    So that may explain why some custom maps aint showing (later maps should---would not like to comment on earlier maps)

    The Hold function only applies to Squadleader Mod and most units all races should have it from start up. (again could be cos its tov only)

    In ADVANCED Squadleader it does not show up because it is dealt with automatically within the coding (cautious Move)

    Advanced Squad Leader install

    I was about to install this mod. However the autoexec fore this mod has the same name as Sqaud Leader and looking at the properties shows they were made on different dates. Please advise
