DEALS - The stupendous thread for tightwad gamers

We all love games and since most of us are not filthy rich we also love good deals. So, occasionally you will have something huge like the Steam Holiday Sale, but often the deals involve just one or two games. Making threads for each would clutter this loverly place up. So in the interest of helping our fellow gamers out and keeping this place tidy I'm creating a thread for game deals. This thread isn't for permanent price drops in games (like some guy on Amazon selling a game for fairly cheap). It's meant for temporary deals like D2D selling Mass Effect for $5, or TF2 being $2.50 for a day.

NOTE: This is not for $5 or less off deals unless the game is only $10 to begin with. This is for "stupendous" deals. Vague I know, but I think you understand the idea is not for posting a $50 for $47.

The deal I'm going to post offers a good example of what I had in mind.

From now until Jan 15th, Crayon Physics Deluxe is "pay what you want" a la Radiohead and World of Goo.
    http://www.crayonphysics.com/

One final note. This is NOT a thread for discussion. Post the deal and maybe some comment but that's it. Any post not containing a deal or that is getting into a conversation will be deleted/edited. We want to make this thread easy to read so others can enjoy the good deals you have found.

    cheers,
    Ira

Overgrowth and Natural Selection 2 "Organic Indie Preorder Pack".
    http://www.wolfire.com/pack
Watch the (kind of humorous?) video for more info.

Get the two games at the reduced price (40% off) of $39.95 USD by preordering. Not only is it cheaper, but you're also getting neat bonuses like early alpha/beta testing, as well as earlier access to tools.

Deal ends on January 12; see countdown timer in link for more precise timing.

Normally I'd write a whole lot of stuff explaining why Natural Selection is awesome (NS1 was one of the best Half-Life 1 mods ever made), but this is strictly a deals-only thread. Check out the games yourself.

Important Info: If you already pre-ordered one of the two games before this deal was announced, congratulations, you just got yourself the other game for free, along with early alpha/beta/tools access for that game.

Overgrowth has been confirmed to be able to be added to Steam even if it was not purchased through Steam. NS2 is unconfirmed, but "has a good chance."

    King's Bounty Deal

So whoever missed that game has now no excuse to not have it, both games ( KB: The Legend, KB: Armored Princess ) are currently 75% off on steam.

The deal however ends on January 14 so you don't have much time.

It's basically an improved Heroes of Might and magic that emphasises on the battle and on an epic story rather than "base" (rather city) management. You wander around in a huge land/island/continent/caves/... and fight wandering "heroes" and other monsters gain levels and spend points on upgrades for your skills. The gold you earn/find is invested into troops, spells and weapons of which some can be upgraded by fighting the items keepers.

It took me about 50h to finish KB:TL (with all sidequests) and as it seems KB:AP will even take longer to finish. It's a brilliant game you'll surely love if you are into fantasy and roundbased combats. The only two "downsides" are that it has no multiplayer and you have to read most of the story. So if that isn't bothering you GRAB IT!

Bioshock 2 on Steam is offering a pre-purchase 4-pack deal. Split four ways the cost is ~$33 per person. You also receive a copy of Bioshock 1. The standard prepurchase (just 1 copy) is $5 off the normal price.

A 4-pack sign-up thread has been started as well.

Both Men of War products (that Steam generously calls an 'entire franchise') are on sale for 66% off.

$11.89 for both games seems like a decent price to pay. Note that this is a part of the Midweek Madness sale and will only last for a few days.

Here's a deal of a slightly different variety... DriveThruRPG.com is currently doing a fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders in order to raise funds to help with earthquake relief in Haiti. For a $20 donation, you'll get $1,481.31 worth of downloadable RPG products. Looking through the list, I saw a lot of d20 supplements, a few stand-alone games, adventure hooks for various genres, and more.

Not exactly sure how long it's going to last, but if you're interested in checking it out, here's the link:

Highly recommend getting Titan Quest Gold while it is going cheap during Steam's midweek madness sale. Not a bad price at under $4(US) considering you get Titan Quest and the expansion pack Immortal Throne.

A word of warning about buying packs over Steam.

Extra copies will only be issued as a special promotion in the following cases:

Users who own "Left 4 Dead" and then go on to purchase "Left 4 Dead + Left 4 Dead 2 Bundle" will receive an extra copy of "Left 4 Dead"

Users who own “Half-Life 2” and go on to purchase “The Orange Box” or the "Valve Complete Pack" will receive an extra copy of “Half-Life 2”.

Users who own “Half-Life 2: Episode One” and then go on to purchase the "Half-Life 2: Episode Pack”, “Valve Complete Pack” or “The Orange Box” will receive an extra copy of “Half-Life 2: Episode One”.

Users who own "Universe at War" and then go on to pre-purchase "Aliens vs. Predator" will receive an extra gift pass for “Universe at War”.

Users who purchase the available four pack for one of the following games will receive three extra copies to gift to friends:

    a. Bioshock 2
    b. Borderlands
    c. Global Agenda
    d. Left 4 Dead
    e. Left 4 Dead 2
    f. Madballs in Babo: Invasion
    g. Serious Sam HD
    h. Shattered Horizon
    i. Zero Gear

These special promotions will allow you to send a gift pass for your extra copy to a friend who does not already own the game.

    Limitations

“Half-Life 2” and “Half-Life 2: Episode One” are only eligible to receive extra copies once.

For example, if you own “Half-Life 2” and/or ”Half-Life 2: Episode One” and receive extra copies for your purchase of “The Orange Box”, you will not receive additional extra copies if you then go on to purchase the “Valve Complete Pack”.

Do all duplicate purchases on Steam work this way?

No. This special offer only applies to games or game packages listed above.

Shadowgrounds + Expansion up on steam for $4.99.

    Demo.
    Trailer.

Shadowgrounds breathes fresh air into the action genre with explosive combat sequences, an innovative weapon upgrade system, and an intriguing storyline. The adrenaline-pumping, top-down gameplay and audiovisual fireworks set the scene for this new action experience which also includes single computer (split keyboard or joystick) co-op play.

UPGRADE THOSE WEAPONS! Use a devastating arsenal of high-tech weaponry to dispose of the alien threat. Each weapon has multiple upgrades that maximize the carnage. Unleash the flames of the Flamethrower's Fuel Trap, cause mayhem with the Grenade Launcher's Poison Grenades, slash and dice the monsters with the Laser Rifle's Pinpoint Laser - and many more!

WHAT LURKS IN THE SHADOWS? Shadowgrounds uses cutting-edge realistic lighting and glow technology to light up the battlefield and create detailed shadows producing an atmosphere of fear. But the lighting and the flashlight also affect some aliens' behavior - take advantage of that and you can turn the tide in the game of fear by using your flashlight effectively.

DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENT! What good are weapons and special effects if you can't wreak havoc on the environment? Shadowgrounds lets you go all-out - glass shatters, ground shakes, trees fall, barrels explode and furniture blows to smithereens. You can use the environment to your advantage.

THEY'RE BIG AND NASTY! Big, brutal monsters await you. Prepare to face many different bosses who will do anything to stop your journey. They're nasty, blood-thirsty beasts, but don't give in to fear - remember to use the environment and the lighting to your advantage!

    Weekend Deal on Steam:

75% off the entire Spellforce series
Spellforce Platinum Edition - 3.74 EUR (includes Spellforce: The Order of Dawn, Spellforce: Breath of Winter and Spellforce: Shadow of the Phoenix)
    Spellforce 2 Gold Edition - 6.50 EUR
    Spellforce 2 - Shadow Wars - 4.99 EUR
    Spellforce - Dragon Storm - 4.99 EUR

Spellforce is a RTS / RPG mix developed by a German studio called Phenomic. It's definitely worth playing, especially the first game of the series (Platinum Edition) which btw has one of the best loading screens ever.

Also on Steam this weekend is King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame with a 33% off sale. As the title implies, the setting of the game is based off the Matters of Britain. The gameplay combines the combat of the Total War series with the turn-based strategy of Age of Wonders or Heroes of Might & Magic. It got some mixed reviews but there is a demo available on Steam.

Let me clarify something: while it is a bit vague this is more for "stupendous" deals like Batman being 75% off. This thread isn't for games that are only 2-3 dollars/quid off. I updated the OP explaining this. General rule of thumb is $5 off or more unless the game is like $10 to begin with. Then a price drop of 2-4 would be fine to post. Again, we are looking for awesome deals.

In celebration of the game's recent update, Football Manager™ 2010 is 50% off, now through Monday March 8th, 10am PST.

    Was $69.99, Now $34.99 USD
So if you have been waiting for the price to drop before getting the game on Steam I would say now if a pretty good time (unless you know something I don't).

You have to buy both Bioshock 2 AND the test pack to get the free points, it seems. If you owned Bioshock 2 beforehand you get no freebies.
My Interceptor is better than your Interceptor.

GoGamer has run out of stock of Supreme Commander 2 (and I missed it), but Mass Effect 2 is still in stock at $30, and of course the pre-orders are still available. Past history would indicate that when SupCom2 is back in stock it will be placed right back into a fresh 48 Hour Madness at the same $34 it's would be going for now, so watch the site for the next week and you should get another shot at it.
