    12,778 vehicles produced.

stopped making them in 43 but were still kept in service till end of the war. lot were sent to russia. did well in sicily and italy few made it to france and then holland .

judging by looks i think the ruskies coppied the design and came up with the GAZ 11 .

tended to be underpowered but worked well for rivercrossings ect

quite a few made it to france in 44 and some made it to the far east.

quite a popular collectors vehical in the usa now.

anyway ill do a dukw next. wont be hard to edit the design.

this is done too almost forgot , basic command car version of the white

The Eastern Front mod should grab those Ford GPAs. While the US was disappointed at the performance of them, the Soviets found them perfect for river crossings, and they had a lot of rivers to cross. One of the prime battlefield users of the Ford GPA were Spetsnaz units.

@Georider, thank you, & beefy is making the uv maps for me. as my max is refusing to run under my vista 64, believe it or not my old milkshape i got in 2000 runs once updated to 1.8.5 and thats what im using .

i think even if my old max 7 worked id not be able to remember how to use it

also hoping that the amphib can go straight onto jeep annimations, and the scout car onto opel blitz or greyhound annims.or at worst halftrack and just drag its rear wheels around. as for the recovery tank hoping for berger tiger, the grant though is a problem ,can make it move and probebly fire one gun but im not at all sure about the second. as for the dukw im making, that will just be duce and half annims.

i havent the 3ds for duce & half, opel blitz, tiger ,king tiger or the brit command trucks. which is a nuisance as i was hoping to make a ferdinand\elephant in the future, and was looking for a size comparisom.

wow 3dmax 7 was bad for UV mapping I seriously insist that you invest in getting 3dmax8, it will make uv mapping a lot faster and easier

If thats the Occlusion UV map, Relic tools include one option for that. You just select the mesh(in Editable_Poly), open "Occlusion tools", hit "Layout_uv" or "pack_uv" and bang is done! It even give you a skin for Occlusion. Just telling, you can save some time with it

The GPA and DUKW look good, are you going to add the hoops and canvas tilt (canopy) to the DUKW? They very frequently had them on, especially when just travelling around (and not moving cargo from ships to shore), and most of the ones in preservation or rotting fields still have the canvas and hoop (or the remains) fitted. If you add it, we can always have it turned on and off with a state.

Beefy, great too see the Grant's animating going well, are you actually going to animate the headlights? If at all possible (within the models limits), try to add the tank commander marker and animate the commander cupola's hatch too, it'd be much appreciated. Don't forget about about the driver's 2x .30cal MG's, especially since the M31 Recovery variant had fake guns in the turret and sponson, the driver's MG's will be it's only protection.

There's no need to worry about the Grant's weapons, so long as Beefy animates each as a seperate weapon with different anim names, i can have all of the weapons firing on their own, with the main 75mm being the gun which you can manually target objects and the enemy (or friendlies).

ill add the hoops ,ill use 3 sided cylinders 6 of those with 7 stacks each wont insanly overdo the polys.

the canvas could be a problem its generally high poly count because it will only come half way down the hoops & be rolled at the end, therefore it will need an inner and outer face, but ill get round it. unless i just do a seperate canvas enclosed back,

As for cargo i was thinking of attatching it as a seperate rgm in the apb.that way the poly count wouldent hit the roof.

Oh beefy has finished mapping the grant apart from the headlights, he claims i need shooting for making them . Hes also got the rest of the relic stuff to extract on his pc , so we now have a duce & half, tiger, the brit command trucks and opel blitz , plus the 88 i wanted . this opens up some posabilaties for the white using the opel blitz annims, and just adding weapon hardpoints.

Beefy says hell add the hull 30 cals to the recovery tank. he agrees it needs some basic anti infantry defence like the bergertiger.

Im doing an M3 75mm GMC td at the moment, or Brit named autocar sp, brits used it to the end of the war in france, holland, germany and italy, 11th hussars had 8 of them in theyre recon units as did the british royal dragoons, again with recon elements. sort of give brits some cheap early at thats mobile. will do a T19 105mm variant of that too, with no gunshield. 75 is a bit of a pig as im having to make the gun & mount from scratch as the 57mm is nothing like. still once its done i can hack it onto a 76mm at gun or somthing, sure ill find a use for it.

DUKW is updated with tarp and cargo.

New Screens With Cargo And Tarp Added To 1st Post.

Nice models, but I dont see the use from the ambiphious vehicles in coh and the shiwmwagen is absurd in coh, they could have did a Kubel instead :/ But the halftracks are epic, cant wait for em

Oh, nice! You're making the Autocar! If only we could get an M15 CGMC, that would seal the deal!

Also, Schwimmwagens were used by Aufklärungs platoons, so they have an important place. It makes sense since there would be times where you would have to cross a river, so a normal Kuebel wouldn't be sufficient.

    M3 75mm GMC M3 , British Designation, 75mmSP Autocar.

will Be 6800 poly when the wreck is completly finished, shouldent be a problem as the hellcat is 7500 by default.

the 75mm gun and mounts are scratch built, i think with the shield removed and a carriage added it would make a good anti tank gun or possibly howitzer ???

    Absolutely beautiful, DMz!

The British used these as fire support, rather than the tank destroyer role they were designed for. They'll fit nicely into the Armoured Car Support Platoons in Fortress Europe.

Ever get fed up with those pesky Luftwaffe planes blowing up all your lovely exspensive armour. Brits have a bofors, Werhmacht an ostwind & 88s, PE a wirblewind and 88s plus flak38s, and you get what ?? , pff a quad 50.... that doesnt even scratch the paint on the henchels,, heres the solution.

Excellent M3 75mm GMC, and glad someone's come up with some better AAA for the Yanks. Being that both of them are open topped with relatively exposed crews, their gonna be a huge pain to animate, but i'm glad that their getting done, and done so well.

this is as good as i can get it im afraid, if i add anymore detail it will just be rediculous for poly count when finished. at the moment as it stands with the wreck model half completed its at 6280 ploy, what i need to know is weather to bother with it or to just put it into my nice idea but lets forget it folder.

Keep at it, man. At least in Fortress Europe, there won't be more than a few of these in-game at a time.

You could always pull a relic shortcut and put a canopy over the gun compartment.

Also, just as a side note, the 37mm looks like it's almost the same caliber as the 12.7mm M2HBs next to it.

  32. #82
Some of the smaller details could be subsumed into the texture (diffuse and normal) rather than as polygons. For example, the hinges on the front sides of the gun compartment don't stick out enough that they have to be polies of their own. Little things like that, that don't contribute to the silhouette, can be 'flattened' and textured in instead.

As for a canopy over the compartment, the gun will need to elevate upwards to at least 60 degrees, which would make a canopy hard to do. Also would look odd since all over SP AA have open compartments so the crew can spot planes. Probably better that it has a visible gun crew, and any optimization is elsewhere.

    But it's definitely looking good.

You could also cut out the fuel cans and tools mounted by the cab, and the barrel lock behind the cab that's holding the 37mm barrel. Another area you could cut back on is the extra ammo boxes and tins decorating the inside of the shields and the floor of the compartment.

Don't worry, they'll be back. I'm surprised that someone in their 40's, such as DMz, is leaving over this. But yeah, they'll be back. A small, unknown forum will not help them get the attention of the common COH player (read: non-modder).

Very nice! I know you're probably sick of the half-track by now, but any chance we could see an M3/M3A1 with M1919A4 instead of the M2HB? Or an M2 half-track?

Great work, though. This really hits the spot for the British and Russians.

to be honest eli, as none of this stuff is getting any closer to getting ingame, because no one wants to put it there, i might just pack up and forget about it. At the moment im sorting texture mapping and smoothing on all the models ive done then ill decide if its worth carrying on with this. Its time consuming and very depressing to make things and not get them ingame.

The problem is we have a LOT of modelers/models and very few animators.

What Sweeten is trying to say guys, is that we are not short of models, in fact quite the opposite. Of course every model helps but we are knee deep in models whereas we have few animators to get them in game. Besides the fact that there is an order in the works as there are clear goals and deadlines (we dont just do this or that), we already working on getting models in the game others have for offer. So its not like we dont want them but they are either double works or just not on the top of the priority list.
Having said that I am hereby inviting everyone to showcase you stuff so we can all take a look at it and say this we would need, this we already have and so on so forth. I, alone, am working on 30 various models as we speak so showcasing models would help sorting things out.
When the need comes for a model for any particular doctrine or division as N44 does things, it is only natural to turn to the inhouse 3d people. If we saw whats out there (like DMz's stuff) the people in charge could make a decision to use existing models.

i would do them myself eli, but every time i do the oe even on clean installs i get nowhere. it always bsods. i can extract files ,i can mesh\uvmap, i can model, i can do basic skin work, i can annimate in max and i can compile models for hl hl2 unreal tourney and a half a dozen other games, yet a cant get a stupid utility to work without it crashing or messing up on me :/ 9 out of 10 times the damn pipeline wont even install properly. i love 64 bit operating systems dont you. its enough to make you want to reinstall windows xp home. & nobody say run as administrator ,or ill scream

beefy is making some progress so if im lucky he will get it working 100% the way it should, once he has that he will have no problem getting annims onto most of the stuff that has been done here.

    DMz,

I can walk you through the installation or try to help get your stuff in game. I have some experience editing with the OE, just not with 3DS Max. I need to learn the process anyways, as we have some modelers on my team that don't know how.

I have Windows XP x64 Pro, and I was able to get it set up, so I should be able to walk you through. Is there a model nobody's working on that I could maybe try to get working?
