I too have been looking forward to this map for ages, it's looks exceptional! The landscaping is something that really disappoints me on many community maps i try, but the landscape in the screens of this map so far look so good, i may be afraid to damage them ingame.
Sphinx, i really hope you drop back with a release for us soon, i think this map may be in danger of going the same way as many other WIP maps here, just fading away without even making a release.

Guys, it has been two months since TheSphinx last logged in. I don't want to lock this thread in case he comes back but please don't fill it with wishes for his return it just clutters the thread. Let the thread be and if TheSphinx returns he will post an update I'm sure.

Welcome back matey! Glad to see you here. The map looks great. Don't try to put TO many detail in it, as Bärenschanze/Drachenwald had pretty low performance even on high end computers.
Damn, the map looks sweet, can't wait for it to be finished. Although massive chunks of concrete near wooden houses look silly.

Aidas, only the roof/floors were made of wood. The rest is stone/concrete.

Yes, the CoH Worldbuilder is so extended you can almost make Crysis 2 detailed maps, but unfortunately the engine just can't handle that and will make lags...I really hope this map wont lag - even on my super powerfull desktop.. By the way, can you make the Pantherturm only a map object? (so that it's not repair/usable).

Because Pantherturms, Mortar Bunkers and prop weapons are pretty unbalanced for multiplayer maps (though I do love the models myself as well), unless you place them in rather useless locations. (with that I mean that they shouldn't be placed on locations where there are the major fights take place).
i know what you mean - the pantherturm stand exactly in the middle by the teams. every player can reach the panther at the same time.
and i think it isnt a important place. only a low manpowerpoint near to the panther.
but i dont care - i make the object unusable

BTW are there gonna be tramrails on your map? Or is the tram car just for scenery?

I personally love maps with fixed defenses in place. This map is one of the best I have ever seen. Were did you get that awesome tiger skin? I am also interested in the kebelwagon driver.

Well yeah, but as TheSphinx hasn't logged in since the 16th of August 2011, you can pretty much say he's not going to finish it, but nobody knows. The map indeed looks really epic and beautiful, but unless you got a very high end computer, so much detail, splats, objects and such will eat away RAM and graphical memory, causing low performance.
I stopped hoping that you ever finish that one but this update I get new hopethis map looks so awesome :O hope you will release it this time!
yea the playable area is finish. only some ruins around the map and testing ressourcenpoints.
but a little info for all.
nobody should expect too much about the map. i started this map only for testing to mapping a urbanmap. and after i work some hours on the map i make more and more and at the end it looks fine i think but its a map without a real plan. without a real online balancing/suitability
it looking nice to order the soldiers through the rubble but its not a real balanced multiplayermap. most of the streets are very small. many objekts which blocking the units ect.
its a great map to fighting agains ki but its not a balanced map like a 2vs2 at map or something like that.
but that brings me to the next topic.
i have read from a developer it will give a worldbuilder for coh2.
so i want to learn from these fails on my coh1 maps and
in COH2 i would like to make maps that are graphic and playful ( balanced and tactical ) like a real relicmap. or better as a relicmap
i know all about the worldbuilder and i have a eye for details. but i need a real plan for a interesting map before i start mapping.
so i mean someone are interested to plan a really good and tactical map and i build this map after a sketch. a sketch like a map overview with location of houses, walls, ressources, hedges, trenches and so on.
some player with a good feeling for a balanced exciting epic map for coh2 and which make the playtests.
i have many ideas - for example: a forest map with trenchsystems distributed about the map and devastated glades
or a map with heavy Industry and a big freight trainstation in the middle.
its only a idea. if someone have the pleasure to try it - maybe is is what.
"when" coh2 come out with a worldbuilder.
it give also very nice custom maps with nice gameplay and tactic but sometimes missing the graphical fine sanding. so i mean with a bit teamwork we can make much better maps

Oh and of course, i will be a map (beta) tester, if you want.
Your eye for detail is incredible Sphinx, some really high quality artwork. It's a shame if the gameplay isn't fantastically balanced, but it could still work as a vs AI or mission type map.
I usually have the opposite problem tbh - I've got a good grasp on design and balance, lots of good ideas for interesting map layouts, but lack the patience and vision to put together maps that look nice enough to be popular. If you'd ever like to bounce some ideas around then please feel free to get in touch.
we should try to make a map in coh2. ( hope the worldbuilder is the coh1 worldbuilder similarly )
if i start a map in coh2 i will make playtest very early with some voluntary player. - before i make splats and all details. only place all important objects and ressources and after playtest and feedpack make the details and splats.
i think its a better way. when the time comes, your support would be nice![]()

but are you planing a 1vs1 or 2vs2 version ?

Looks really nice and seems to be a huge map. Looks also like I have no luck on this map to place some buildings somewhere (in my mod I can build forward spawner buildings), cause every space seems to be filled with objects. ;(
Anyway, it's a great work man, with so many fine details.![]()
I have not really planned a different version
for the first, i upload this version (3vs3) and look how good it will work.
and if it works good and there is enough interest i can make a 1vs1 or 2 vs2 version.
the map is finished - must put only a few suitable resource-points and will upload it in the course of the week
someone maybe can have some performanceproblems. i test the map with 2 different PCs ... one lower pc and the map run on high settings with some laggs when many units on the field and a higher pc ( can run bf3 on ultra settings ) and the map run without any problems.
look forward the release of file.
