Dawn of War II - Section Rules (Read Before Posting)

Welcome to the Dawn of War 2 section of the RelicNews forums. To help ensure a pleasant forum-going experience, please take a moment to review the following guidelines.

RelicNews Guidelines
- All of the rules of the RelicNews forums still apply, and will be enforced by the Dawn of War 2 moderation staff. If you aren't familiar with the RelicNews rules, they can be found here. Pay particular attention to the Posting Guidelines.

Section-Specific Guidelines
- The section is for the discussion of Dawn of War 2 and its expansions ONLY. If you wish to discuss other games, please do so in their appropriate sections or in the Gamer's Lounge.

- Take the time to do a quick search of the forums before posting a new thread if you aren't sure whether a topic has been posted or not. This is especially important when posting news items; duplicate threads will be locked.

- Post responsibly. Try to keep discussions here civil, and avoid posting direct or indirect insults toward other members of the community or the developers of the game.

- No rants. This goes for the Dawn of War 2 General Discussion as well as subforums such as Multiplayer Strategy and Balance Discussions. Posts should have some content other than "Man, this friggin' sucks!" or "I lost so such-and-such unit is OP/UP/crap!" If you want to make a point about a particular army/unit/strategy, make sure that your post is well thought out and has examples to support your point.

- Respect the opinions of others. You are allowed to like the game, and you are allowed to dislike the game. You are free to express either of these opinions. You are not free to do so in a way that derails threads or insults others, nor are you allowed to consistently make posts that serve no purpose other than to express how much you love or hate the game.

- Don't backseat moderate. If you feel that a thread should be locked or that another member is behaving inappropriately, use the report button () to inform the forum staff of the problem. Don't take it upon yourself to give instructions in the thread.

Section Structure
- Dawn of War 2 General Discussion: This is the main Dawn of War 2 forum, and is to be used for any general discussion of the game which does not fit better in one of the subforums. Reviews, previews, and speculation also fit into this section.

- Basic Training: A section for beginners to ask questions that might otherwise be considered "common knowledge." If you have a basic question about how the game works, it should be posted here.

- Single Player Discussion: Any discussion of the single-player campaigns for Dawn of War 2 and its expansions should go here. The Objective Complete! walkthrough section is also archived here.

- Multiplayer Strategy: A discussion forum dedicated to all aspects of the multiplayer experience in Dawn of War 2, including overall multiplayer strategies, build orders, and the strengths or weaknesses of various races. Also contains subforums for discussion of The Last Stand, Dawn of War 2 Balance Discussions (where threads about the balance of units/armies should go), and the sharing of replays (in the Battle Archives 2!.)

- Dawn of War 2 Technical Assistance: A forum dedicated to offering technical support for individuals who have encountered bugs or other problems with the game itself (as opposed to problems with gameplay.) Read the "How To Post" sticky before starting a new thread in this section.

- Heretek Cabal: The modding forums for Dawn of War 2. Contains discussion and tools for modding the game, as well as subforums for mods in progress, completed mods, maps and mapping discussion, and modding tutorials.

Contacting Relic Entertainment
While some of Relic's staff do visit this forum occasionally, we are a volunteer-run fan site that has no official affiliation with the company. If you would like to contact Relic directly or have issues that you specifically want brought to their attention, you will be more likely to get their attention by visiting their official Dawn of War 2 forums.

As previously stated in the rules, the advertising of mods for Dawn of War 2 is allowed in the Dawn of War 2 General Discussion forum. The manner by which this advertising and the discussion of mods can be done has changed slightly, however. The new modding discussion rules are as follows:

- Mods will now be allowed up to 4 types of threads for discussion: balance, strategy, replay and gameplay. These threads must be clearly marked using the [MOD] tag and must contain the name of the mod in the title (such as "[MOD] KittenHammer's Mod - Gameplay.") These threads should be placed in the appropriate subforums, just as they would be for game expansions.

- All mod-related threads should contain a link to the mod's discussion thread in the Heretek Cabal modding forum and a link to the latest downloadable version in the first post.

- Questions about modding or specific questions about the development of a mod should still be directed to the Heretek Cabal.

- Mod teams are still able to make an "advertisement" thread in DoW2 general discussion to announce new releases. These threads should be used to discuss changes from previous versions and other release-related items; in-depth discussion or replays for the mod should be confined to the discussion threads as defined above, however.

Threads comparing Dawn of War 2 to Starcraft 2 will be locked on sight unless you have an EXTREMELY good opening post for discussion. As there's a 99% chance that you don't, it is advisable that you simply avoid posting a thread you know will be locked.
