    [DC 1.2] A couple of 1v1 Mirrors - Tau & Eldar

    Hi kidz.
I'd like to share a couple of fun mirror matches I've had recently that I found a tad unusual and enjoyable on the re-watch.

The first is a Tau match on Eden.
Unfortunately the colour schemes are quite similar so at times it's not perfectly clear who's who.

I'm actually playing against my son so I decide to try something a little unorthadox - a Kroot build.
We both open with the TC/Pid combo and I manage to slip a SS over to decap behind the scenes - worth keeping an eye on this guy
Well it comes as no surprise that my Kroot plan fails horribly and my base starts disintegrating with no real means of defence.
The young bloke even asks 'gg?' - and I thought it was.
Interestingly, the game doesn't end there ... I'll let you enjoy seeing how it unfolds.

The second one was an Elf mirror on VoK.
I might come back and flesh this out properly but let me just say how long it's been since I've faced a good Harlie tech.
Proves the importance of an aggressive harass and FoF micro.
I definitely should have had my light infantry back capping the criticals instead of acting as bait for the Harlie's Kiss .
And I'm also a bit embarrassed about my macro and resource management in this one.

    Anyhoo, hope you enjoy it.
As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Wow. That first game is a really good example of how important economy is. And LPs are.

Probably doesn't say too much about kroot because when you got them out he had military superiority and your troops had to cross the river under fire. And it really looked well for your son except you kept on harassing, rebuild and stall until your better economy allowed you to get back. Thankfully that Tau HQ has a ton of HP, eh?

So funny to see he had only one LP even when still with superior forces on his side.

On the eldar mirrormatch: You were far more agressive and kept your opponent on the back seat the entire game with a few weaker moments. Your opponent teched fast but after that stopped teching entirely, it seems. I didn't pay as much attention to econ, but you outsquad him easily.. may have been because of his early teching or because of your harassment. Fun to see that harly take out nearly all of your forces at one point, though.

I do wonder what he could have done better. Maybe one additional guardian squad to fend off harassers or to harass themselves at the start, allowing him to cap his own points earlier? Then he may have been able to keep up better in turns of unit production.

Yes indeed. The Tau match was a doozy!
He obviously should have taken down my economy before trying to knock off my HQ with a Tier 1 force.
The best thing was that we were LANning across the dining room table so I had front row seats to his screams of frustration and disbelief.

Yeah, in the Eldar game I got chased around for ages with the Harlie doing that little jig where it starts the Kiss animation but keeps faltering because the target squad moves out of range.
I guess it was only a matter of time before he finally nailed it. I should have had the presence of mind to separate my doodz tho. ><

Re: what he could've done better - If i hadn't rushed him, I think I would be the one asking that question.
The reality is that you just can't skip a tier. (Well, maybe with the exception of Chaos T2 )

    Thanks for watching

You have an incompatible version - you have Dawn of War 2. These games are from Dawn of War 1 (more specifically the expansion Dark Crusade).

I think you should look for replays in this forum instead: http://forums.relicnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=255 for Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising

You have Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising expansion

The replay needs Dawn of War 1 Dark Crusade expansion

    They are completely different games

You will not be able to play the replays.

corncobman please read above. Chaingun told me that already. So, i downloaded rec files from http://forums.relicnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=255 that has replays for Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising. My problem now is not the version. My problem is that i have d/load the rec files, i found the "playback" directory, i copy the files in there, but i cannot find them from the game to play them. Can you advice me how to play them?

Also, in the same directory, there was already a rec file that i did not download. It was from the installation. I cannot find this either.... Please help.

Thank you very much for replying to my posts.

My guess is that the replays were recorded before the 2.2.2 hot fix came out. Therefore if you've updated your game (which Steam automatically does) then you will not be able to play those replays.

Just to clarify, version 2.2.2 was a patch from 2.2.1 and then another hotfix was released on top of that.

If your game version differs from the replays then you won't be able to see them.

yes they have this number 2.2 or 2.2.1 or 2.2.2.
Just 1 minute before i noticed that i have 2.1.0. I have not run a patch or anything else. I suppose this is the problem. I have to find the patch. Do i have to buy this also separately?

No, you just need to be connected to the internet and run Steam. It should update your game automatically.

Just watched the first game, and I was amazed how your opponent managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. He should have done better with the 300 odd power he had and he lost his near fully reinforced squad of kroot trying to attack your base. However take nothing away from your come back it was nicely played.

Second game was no contest really. Right from the off you put the pressure on and kept your opponent on the back foot throughout.
