Art Art Spam XXI - PEANUTS.

As recorded in the great Thread Archives of Glorious Art History , we shall once again begin a new Art Spam thread.

This time things will vary slightly due to the advent of the personal artdump threads - casual scribbles, doodles, and whatnot are still welcomed. However, if you have a piece that is a cut above that sort of thing (ie, 20-minute plus speedpaints, more involved yet still casual drawings, and so on), just put it in your personal artdump thread for more indepth crits and feedback. Comments tend to get lost in the shuffle in the Art Spams.

So, let us begin, and as Riess' Big Guy once said in an old Art Spam, "PEANUTS."

    Errr.... nice crotch.
There we were, ready to charge the loyalist scum, and then suddenly we were under fire from our west flank. Batshit mental. We turn to return fire, and somehow they sneaked a bunker in, right next to us! We didn't have any meltas so we got the hell out of there. CREEEEED!

I spent a couple of hours bashing round in Zbrush last night.

I'd been planning to try and model Kain for a long time, and finally got the motivation I needed.

Unfortunately I accidentally sub-divided him past 2 million points, which caused my computer to crash, and I lost most of what I had done.

I still have a previous level of Sub-division saved, but having to re-do everything is a real motivation killer.

His face needs a lot of tweaking (or needed). I was planning to narrow the jaw, and plump up the cheek bones, as well as making his hair into a sub-tool.

I suppose I can do all that from the start second time around though.

Well, since I'm a member and all, and spent a few hours in photoshop, I may as well put my artwork up to be enjoyed by everybody. Just refamiliarizing myself with photoshop by redrawing a Disney character (Belle, from Beauty and the Beast), I kinda got carried away and decided to clean up the drawing a much as possible. I must say I am rather fond of how the eyes turned out, despite them being my strongest aspect of face drawing...

Linked because it's just a little too big for 'img' tags

Parts of #art gathered for an iScribble session tonight, and I took this capture - the lovable monstrosity to the left is nyyti's and my Frankensteinian love child.
    NSFWish, contains boobs

Other great pieces by Skwerl, Heretic, Kalimac and Chrome were created and sadly lost to the sands of time.

Yeah, it's located at http://www.iscribble.net/ - we have a private invite-only channel there and group drawings are coordinated every so often from IRC.

Most likely that's largely due to the lack of colour or perspective. No matter. Five minutes wont get you much

The original is a transatmospheric fighter.

I just downloaded a free modeling program called DoGa and was messing around. It reminds me of Spore's creators, but more complicated. This is just a simple space fighter that came out suprisingly well for my very first go at the program. I think it was a fluke because I've made nothing but crap since.

I'm not sure where this is supposed to go... I didn't take the pictures I simply manipulated them into... that. Here ya go! Probably the largest problem with this assignment was that I needed to squish 5 images together and I had already picked the gorilla at that point so it just got cluttered.

    Firebird Strike Carrier.

The Firebird Strike Carrier is a combat capable carrier ship. Designed around the Sharax cruiser chassis, the Firebird trades firepower for the ability to carry and launch fighters into battle without having to sit far behind friendly lines. The massive 'wings' that give the ship it's distictive look and name serve the purpose of protecting the vulnerable fighter bays and main hull from capital attacks. The carrier is armed, but due to it's incread physical mass, most of the Firebird's power output is given to the engines and defensive systems such as point defense and shielding. Because of this, the carrier's weapon systems are sub-par, the reduced power input to the main weapon systems making the main energy cannons a lesser threat in battle.

Due to it's deep-strike fighter delivery capability, the Firebird is often targeted by enemy heavy capitals in order to maintain fighter superiority over the immediate battlefield. With it's lack of heavy anti-capital weapons, the Firebird relies on the supporto f two or more Tortoise support frigates to draw fire away from it.

The Sharax is an popular assault cruiser, capable of taking on capitals and heavy capitals at both close and long range. Utilizing both energy and missile weaponry, Sharax cruisers are often viewed as a mainstay of the Fleet, their durable and reliable hulls and power systems able to take large amounts of damage before being rendered derelict. Supporting two enlarged reactors, these seperate power cores allow for extended energy weapon combat. Two large missile bays sit in place of fighter bays, and the gutted main hull allows for more warhead storage than what is typically found on missile-capable warships.

Due to their low fighter coverage, however, Sharax cruisers must rely on the support of smaller ships or fighter coverage to avoid having their powerful weapons be whittled away by enemy fighters.
    ______________________

So, these are some renders I've been working on with DoGa, a free modelling program that is brilliant. I have more renders of these two ships, plus the afor-mentioned frigate (though it's kinda fail and thus not shown) so if there is significant interest in these, I'll make my own art thread for them.

What say ye, oh masters of true art?
