    [CR v2.1] Chaos Rising Wargear Unlock Mod - Version 1

    What It Does:
    The Chaos Rising Wargear Unlock mod unlocks all the campaign wargear from Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising in your Chaos Rising campaign. Since I have not lowered the level requirements of wargear I have provided a truck load of experience boosting scrolls so you can level your squads up.

    Some wargear may have missing UCS strings, or unknown bugs; not all the unlocked wargear appears to have been finished, meant to be unlocked, or used.

    Installation:
    Extract the campaign folder and place the campaign folder inside YOUR DOW 2 PATH\GameAssets\Data.

    How-To-Play:
    • Run DoW II in -dev mode

    • Start a new campaign

    As far as I know, you can disable -dev after playing the first mission of the campaign.

    Issues or Bugs
    • None Known So Far

    Be sure to report any issues or bugs, then I can hopefully fix them.

    It's for the Chaos Rising campaign, I'm assuming. Note the [CR] tag in the thread title.

    First I got to figure out what, if any, Dawn of War 2 campaign wargear is used in the Chaos Rising due to potential IP\Legal issues with Chaos Rising owners (without DoW2) using DoW2 content illegally. I'll work on adding wargear from the vDoW2 campaign now. Got a bit sick of copying and pasting over (something like) 300+ wargear code lines at the time of creating this mod.

    Not entirely sure on that sorry. So far any character I import from my DoW2 campaigns to a new CR campaign do not bring their wargear with them so my character end up being without wargear in Mission 1 (I think -dev replaces the wargear you would use in Mission 1 with your Squad's transferred wargear, but cannot be sure).

    hm i see, only reason why i want vDoW2 wargear is that the Devestators dont get much love this time around. and also since i want to check out that Vortex grenade the hive tyrant can drop + mastercrafted nades i had.

    When ever I run the game in -dev mode it crashes at the loading screen. Is there any solution to this?

    Cannot say I have experienced this problem, unless I boot via the Chaos Rising shortcut on my desktop (seems to love crashing from a shortcut for me). If you have not already, try booting Chaos Rising via the Steam Games Library. Not sure on the compatibility of this simple mod with other mods, so if you have other DoW2\CR mods installed there my be a cross-compatibility issue between them.

    I'll see what else I can think of, or if I can find any issues that may be causing the CTD.

  10. #10
    I'll try deleting all my DoW files. It was pretty heavily modded pre-CR. So it may be an issue from a previous mod and the current game.

  11. #11
    Does it increase the drop rate?

  12. #12
    The mod seems to be missing the librarian hoods. At least I didn't get any of them when I tried this mod out.

    Yeah, I noticed that on my playthrough and I am trying to find out where the files are stored as they do not appear to be where you would think they should be stored. Once I find them I'll add them to the mod. Sorry for any inconvenience.

    @tot_kto_v_bredu
    Not at the moment. But I can increase the drop rate of items, so you can hoard even more items, if you want.

    Can I start a game on Primarch in dev mode then disable dev like you say after the first mission and still get the achievement for playing through on Primarch? It looks like such a grind, especially bosses, and want to still have a bit of fun on the way.

    Hey, I can't seem to get the mod to work.

    Steam version, shortcut directly to the DOW2 exe with the -dev, but nothing happens.

    Any ideas?

  17. #17
    To add -dev mode to your Steam game, you need to right click DoW2 in your "My Games" tab, go to "Properties" and then click the button "Set launch options..."

  18. #18
    yep tried that.... it crashed the game... well starting over, re downloading it all and see if that's the problem.

    Good question, I should have done this mod before I finished the campaign on all difficulty levels *facepalm*. It could work though.
    --------------
    @blakenstien
    Not sure what the problem could at the moment sorry. When I find some time to work on version 2 of the mod I'll be sure to make a packaged version so you only need to use -modname: *modname* (which should work if -dev doesn't).
    --------------
    Been having problems with my computer lately, and been busy with work, so not had much time to work on an expanded\improve version of the mod yet.

  20. #20
    Ahem.... *hangs head in shame* there were a couple of old mod files that I had forgotten to delete, which caused a conflict and crashed the game.... After I cleaned out the old mod, everything worked perfectly.

    BTW great mod!

    The mod works on imported profiles. I just thought I'd chime in on that.

    There is a power axe called "Emperor's Light"

    Level 25 Purple Power Axe
    132 damage

    +2 Strength
    65% Knockback Resist
    +12 Melee Skill
    +55 Armor Rating
    +28 Damage

    It's pretty darn good. In fact it gives a +2 to Stamina that isn't listed. Is this a typo, a bug, or an invalid item?

    There are various expendable items that increase attributes.

    For instance "Gene Seed Renewel" raises your Stamina by +2.

    Are these unique items that only drop once, or is it possible for these to drop multiple times in one campaign. In other words, is it possible to grind enough Gene Seed Renewels to max out your stamina bar if you're insanely persistant?

  24. #24
    work perfectly and great mod indeed. cheers!! xD
    Is this can do personally modify ? I need to add some attributes increasing expandable item , and where can I see those items name or code name ?

    Or may be you are making it out in v2 ??
    thx, for ans

    Good question. I'll take a look at the expendable "wargear" files and see if they are set to be exclusive one time rewards or not.

    "Should" have some free time on sunday so I'll add in all the other expendable items, or what I can find.

    I found a power Axe during the campaign that doesn't seem to be included in the mod.

    I found it as a ramdom drop on the "The Wages of Sin" mission. Which is the mission on Aurelia where you fight the traitor. It was on day 14. It dropped on a file that I started before I installed the mod.

    Axe of the Frostrider
    Level 28 Purple
    132 Damage

    +2 to Strength
    50% Knockback Resistance
    +15 to Melee
    +75 Armor Rating
    +28 to damage

    "The Space Wolf warrior Otto Frostrider drew this very axe from the hands of the fallen battle brother to plant it squarely between the eyes of the Chaos Champion Hasdrubal. The axe stayed with the Frostrider until his death an was perhaps buried with him. Yet the axe has several times appeared, found at just the right time to slay the enemies of Man."

    i have the same as the poster above steam version:

    as soon as i set -dev as launch parameter the game goes through the usual load of videos until the very first loading bar appears: crash with bugsplat open but no information in any of the log files that could hint as of why.

    might want to add: when i disable -dev it launches fine

    any ideas ?

  28. #28
    You may have other mods installed before chaos rising and these mods may be conflicting with the wargear mod.I used to have this problem but I fixed it by uninstalling and deleting the entire folder before reinstalling the game

  29. #29
    thank you sir, that was indeed the case, some hidden files for the regular campaign. thanks for the tip i appreciate it !

    Hey Imperial Honor, I found the location of the "Axe of the Frostrider"

    It's "wargear\\wargear\\campaign\\playable\\race_marine\\xp1\\weapons_melee\\sm_wp2_power_axe_l28_legendary"

    ...thank you for your work.

    Hopefully it's okay...I added the axe to the inventory.lua file myself for my own personal use. When I tell anyone about the mod I still direct them to yours.

  31. #31
    I don't know if you guys have any use for it, but I made a quick unabridged list of all the wargear. http://paste2.org/p/758070

    I might make a more comprehensive CSV with names, description, to make it easier to handle.

    In the meantime if you're taking notes for next version wishes, I'd love to have a hundred or so of those "+2 Will/Strength/Ranged/Health" consumables (it should be enough to get everyone to the top of every branch) and way less exp scrolls, you get to 30 with everyone and then are left with a lot of them just taking space.

  32. #32
    .....I'd love to have a hundred or so of those "+2 Will/Strength/Ranged/Health" consumables ...

    ^^^+1

    Thanks for the Mod, worked for me and I'm loving the Redemption items that give PLUS FIVE to ALL Attributes!! got two of them (one in the mod, one you trade an item in for) pretty wicked I gotta say. but they occupy a slot, so some of the above mentioned +2 to a specific squad's attribute would be amazing...

  33. #33
    finished the campaign and picked up an item I didn't have in the wargear mod

    Level 19 Force Staff "Scourge of Fortitude" (epic/rare? not purple)
    82 damage
    enhances all healing abilities
    all healing effects cause damage to enemies
    recover 10 health on hit
    no level requirement.

    no idea how to add it to the list

  34. #34
    Quick question, does it work on patch 2.2?

    Thank You.

    chosen40k: I'm fairly certain my game version is 2.2, and I have had no problems with this mod so far.

    The only downside to this is perhaps when you're at the mission screens on the Retribution, running through the wargear tabs, the processing/memory requirements to keep track of the countless chainswords and suchlike does slow the game down a bit in those settings.

  36. #36
    @ Pikachu - yeah it's a bit of a slug through to get rid of stuff you don't want, but once you've dropped half the gear and switched back to NON-Dev mode, it's better.

    I went through and multiplied a bunch of the good stuff, in inventory.txt (changed to edit, change back to .lua before loading) some of the lines that I preferred to add for those who are paying attention... (@madness)

    ...blueprint = "wargear\\wargear\\campaign\\playable\\race_marine\\xp1\\accessories\\sm_expendable_tome_of_strength_all",
    new = false,
    },
    {
    blueprint....

    and copy pasta as many times as you like (I did about 22 of each type) and add the same line but change to
    sm_expendable_tome_of_ranged_all
    sm_expendable_tome_of_health_all
    sm_expendable_tome_of_energy_all

    note, even when the bars are maxed, you can still increase points to a certain amount. ie, Avitus has a limit of energy regen of 13.6, but have him carry a seal and it can be increased even more. I've got Avitus doing 4400 ranged damage right now lol

    and this, pasted into the accessories area

    sm_acc_orbital_bombardment_not_limited
    which by the way means, not limited to who uses it
    and
    not limited to how often it's used.

    oh and LOLS @ Level 15 Force Weapon
    66 damage
    +50 Health
    +2.0 Energy regen

    5% chance of catching Athlete's Foot <<<<<<
    5% movement speed

    Another interesting piece is...
    Unspecified Placeholder Name Cloak [rare] (appears like Gabriel Angelos' cape)
    << Insert pleasing stat points here >>
    Corrupting item for about +3
    << Insert aggressive battle cry as flavour text >>
    Requires Two-Handed Hammers

    I do wonder what that Athlete's Foot does, if it's actually an effect. Probably something Nurgley to reduce move speed.

  38. #38
    LOL I didn't even think about a nurgle infected foot. nice1

    dabbler: "I went through and multiplied a bunch of the good stuff, in inventory.txt (changed to edit, change back to .lua before loading)"

    You don't need to change to .txt to modify just set the lua file to open with wordpad or notepad and it will work just fine.

  40. #40

    http://paste2.org/p/791738

    I tried to edit the .lua file and added multiple lines for each tomes and made sure that there are no missing { }, but after completing the first mission there is only one tome of each type and one of the exp scroll. It seems that I can't have duplicate items, can someone please point out what I'm doing wrong?

    Link to the .lua file is in my post title since the forums won't let me include it in my post for some reason.

  41. #41
    i copied the lines entirely from b to b of blueprint, and had no problems duplicating things. check out the lines with the XP scrolls to see. also, make sure to add them in the right section? I really don't know if it matters, but I'm sure it's a good idea

    ie:

    blueprint = "wargear\\wargear\\campaign\\playable\\race_marine\\xp1\\accessories\\sm_expendable_tome_of_strength_all",
    new = false,
    },
    {blueprint = "wargear\\wargear\\campaign\\playable\\race_marine\\xp1\\accessories\\sm_expendable_tome_of_strength_all",
    new = false,
    },
    {blueprint = "wargear\\wargear\\campaign\\playable\\race_marine\\xp1\\accessories\\sm_expendable_tome_of_strength_all",
    new = false,
    },
    {

  42. #42
    I stated to play, but realised I was getting no wargear

  43. #43
    Created a tiny app in vb to merge the mod data and the list I got, and there's a LOT of missing stuff. If someone is intrested in running the app and creating a new inventory.lua or expand on the code I'll put everything somewhere.

    CBA to wait, so here's the thing http://www.mediafire.com/file/nz3k1m...%20Thingie.rar

    I'm guessing there hasn't been any progress, I too would like to see an update, with all the vanilla gear as well as all Chaos Rising gear.
