I only wanted to add the pictures of the new model that you planning to start that's all, because maybe some members don't know what a M5A1 Light Tank looks like. Next time seeing this is your thread I will ask you if I can post some pictures ok.

The M5A1 is the British Stuart VI in game. I am only adding a machine-gun to an existing model.

I did some more research and it turns out that M36B1s did see combat, but not until February, 1945.

I'm going to be out of town for a few weeks over the holidays, so there will not be any news from me until next year. I won't be around the forums, so happy holidays and new year's! Thanks for the support and hopefully we can get some more stuff done next year.

Just a line to let everyone know im back. every thing went fine. I feel a bit like a pin cushion withe some extra vent holes atm but im ok. I cant sit in one place for too long without moving, till things heal up a bit more, but ill start doing a few little things ive left shelved, when the stitches come out and im healed up a bit more, just after xmas.

So that will tie in nicely with Eli coming back from vacation.

Great to see you back DMz, i feel it's been quiter than usual without you here. Glad your on your way to getting better, and hey, everyone could use a couple of extra holes at some point in their lives! (unless it's summer and those holes are keeping you from a dip in the pool/ocean)

Anyway, a merry christmas and a happy new year to all of you! And keep yourselves safe damnit! We all know how dangerous this time of the year is to use CoH modders, so be safe and drive carefully!

Just a note to anyone coming into the game late here....

The Brummbar DL abp is set for the tank commander by default with the mg having a "--" in front of it (modders will know what I mean ).

To get the mg on top you need to undo the "--" (no quotes of course - a -- in front of code negates the line).

Also, I saw Xali did some ui stuff for it, but I wasn't able to find the DL - just pics. Does anyone have the ui stuff for it

    Thanks

Hey Xali - good to see you.

I feel a little dumb and rusty

At that link I se the pics (very nice btw) but no downloads. Am I missing something, or am I just supposed to copy the pic and turn it into the icons?

Ahh - NM. I am dumb - the one on the right with no pic - Duh

    hehe

@DMz: Glad to see you are safely back; get well soon! I had some ideas for "pimping" Sherman tanks. Eli said it would be no problem to toggle it with states, we just need someone to model it. I found some nice high quality ww2 pictures showing 76 Shermans with far better strengthened armour using cement filled sand bags:

Do you think you have some ambitions to model these sandbag attachments? I think we wouldn`t need new textures as everything could be taken from the Sherman texture.. what do you think?

    Greetings

the first picture seems to be another sherman (look at the tracks)

but it would be nice to see this as an upgrade

but if you talk about the 76 sherman then i have some questions about it

    1. when was it produced?
    2. was this version a field modification?

LOL i love that. im afraid of the polys for the bags, but i love it, still i can lose lots of back and side faces and that should help. but hey dont expect the end result under 6000 poly

@19.PzGrDiv: The first picture shows an "Easy Eight" with HVSS. I don`t know the production year, but I guess it must be 1945. I think these are field modifications.

Cement fill bags provide extra protection from armor peircing shells for tanks. 25th Tank Bn, 14th Arm Div, near Morschiller, France, Feb 27, 1945

@DMz: Yeah! it would be very cool if you could breathe life into this idea and make the model add on so that eli can add it as a state. Therefore I suggest using the 76mm M4A3 turret model that was released by Loran some time ago! I also found some nice pictures with field modifications masking massive use of track parts for extra protecting the turret and front of Shermans, particular for the Britith variants

    Greetings

I wouldn't mind seeing two armour add-on models, one with lots of sandbags over the turret and hull (as you can see above), and one with lots of lengths of track on the turret and hull. Both were used widely in the field, and the extra protection were field modifications, usually done by either the crews or the unit's field workshops. Most examples of the sandbaged shermans has the sandbags held in place by a welded metal cage, however i have seen some images of a sherman using a cage made of wood (presumably scavenged from assorted packing crates) and rope. Personally i think the welded metal cage would not only be simpler but should also be able to be done with fewer polies.

Honestly, I would rather see more M4 variants before sandbags because that would be more practical in the long run. Seeing the M4, M4(105), M4A1, M4A1(76)W, M4A2 and M4A3 would definitely be pretty nice, as well as variants for the German Panzers and StuGs. It's ultimately up to DMz and what he wants to do, but just throwing my thoughts out there.

(still on holiday, but found some time to post here and there)

If we did, I wouldn't have mentioned them.

    Variants we do have:

    M4A3(75)W, M4A3(76)W, M4A3(105), M4A3E2(75)W, M4A3E2(76)W, M4A3E8(76)W, M4A4

The earlier models were still in use by Normandy and the British also used them as the Sherman I (M4), II (M4A1) and III (M4A2).

Happy holiday season wishes to everyone, i wish you all the best this holiday season ill be thankful for the significant blessing that we have all recieved this season by having dmz still with us after his surgery, and for eli, sturm, and everyone who has contributed to make all these wonderful new models possible i wish you and your families the best this holiday season.

@ eli, would it be possible to add another new visual state to the StuG model that would enable the spotting scope state to be visible on it because historically assaultguns and tank destroyers should be able to get a spotting scope upgrade just like the hetzer.

    Hello,

I have downloaded your FlaK Pack v2 and American Half-track Pack v2, I have read the readme but I did not find any info on what to put in combat_ext: which hardpoint is associated with which weapon or their positions. And there are also no info for the crew_ext: what should I put in the role_list?
Are there some ebps files where I can look at to find these info?
The NHCmod , a small mod that does a lot of things.

AB2531, I've been working on making Attrib packs for the units whenever i can find the time (which lately hasn't been much), i'll eventually be able to start sending those Attrib packs to Eli to put up, but i can't give an ETA on them i'm afraid.

    Conflict bug?

Is there a conflict between the
    "..\\Axis\\Vehicles\\Flakvierling 38 20mm\\Flakvierling_Sync"
    and the "..\\American\\Vehicles\\Maxson_M55\\Maxson_M55_Sync",?
    or "..\\German\\Vehicles\\FlaK38\\FlaK38_Sync",?

When I add one of these line in the completemotiontree.abp, the flakvierling is unsync about half of the time.

Yes, that is a known issue. I have some ideas on how to fix it, but I am still on vacation. When I get back and find time to mod again, I will look into it.

Also, I would like to welcome medes to our merry band. He is going to help with some of my crazy ideas. Some of you might be familiar with his work on Firestorm over Kronus.

Possibly, but I am not an RGD guru, so I can't answer that for you sadly. Perhaps you could try asking in The Armoury how to do that?

I think what he means is if you can make the gunner part of the model itself, instead of a crew-able weapon. That itself wouldn't be to hard to do from a coding perspective, however it wouldn't be capture-able anymore, which would be odd since it'd be the only one in CoH that couldn't be captured.

Alright! I am finally back home and on my own computer again. Some of you may have noticed the thread being renamed recently. This is because of the help I have and will be receiving from Xalibur, Lethal Dosage and others. It is also because everything we have released has been available publicly for the community, so it only makes sense that we as a community work together to get the models we all need out there. I would like to welcome anyone else that thinks they can contribute in some fashion, such as modeling, animating, skinning and/or UV mapping. I will restructure the first post to also include a list of models we will be looking into and who is working on them, to avoid any duplication of effort.

I would also like to take this New Year as a time to change how future releases are done, so that more testing is done to ensure they work properly and attempt to include attrib files. As Lethal Dosage has mentioned, it does take a lot of time, which is one of the reasons I have skipped it. Hopefully we can rework some of the original releases to include this as well, but that may take some time.

Great to hear that you are back eli! It would be nice if future releases would be more complete indeed, it's better for everyone. I'll probably have enough time to help you with attribs and maybe some UV'ing if needed.
