Things will be done when they are done. The holidays are coming up, so there's a chance there won't be any new releases until January.

Hat's off to Choppin, probably the best real custom skin made from scratch I've seen to date. He da man!

The Chaffee is looking a bit to thin compared to it's length.
But I guess you have look at the width and the length so it's correct I guess.
On the other hand I think it'll look better when it has some wheels underneath it.

  5. #1205
how come the 75mm on the chaffe looks too thin

Aidas, by chance, are you making a command variant of the Pz III?

I think it would be best if the M24 was mixed with the M18, since they use almost the same chassis and treads. The suspension is only slightly different, and I think I can just remove one of the rollers to make it look the same.
We disscused this earlier, it's impossible to mix without destroyng the helcat threads/ wheels.

someone said that the Relic Hellcat is oversized
and someone was going to downscaled it or?

Hey lads now that there is a Matilda and Pz III almost done and Aidas saying a Crusader and possibly a Valentine are in the works, I don't know if Dartborne is active any more or if he has given up work on his Afrika Korps mod (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthre...ika-korps-V1.4) but I remember when playing that the only things missing from making it a really top quality mod were the iconic tanks of that theatre such as the pz III and a Crusader and a bit of tidying up in terms of grammar etc.

Is there any interest in resurrecting this mod with his permission or convincing Dartborne himself to bring out a new version once all these tanks are released? With all the great work that went into that mod I don't think it would be a monumental task for the lot of us to band together and turn it into a real top quality mod that would do justice to both Dartborne's work and the work Eli, Aidas and Chopin are putting into these models which look amazing already.

No plans for a Befehlspanzer, but there are plans for a Beobachtungspanzer (Observation Post).

With "Beobachtungspanzer" do you mean an Panzer III variant or an Panzer II ("Luchs" - "Lynx") or whatever we had talked about, because I don't know any "Beobachtungspanzer"-versions of an Panzer III?

Beobachtungspanzer is an Observation Post tank, which observes targets for artillery. It had a fake gun and more radio equipment. The Panzer II Ausf. L "Luchs" is an Aufklärungspanzer.

  15. #1215
The Panzer III "Beobachtungspanzer" was issued to the self-propelled batteries (Wespe and Hummel), for those wondering what it would be used for. The motorized batteries (truck and half-track towed leFH18 and sFH18) used a Panzer II variant instead.

OK, I only would know, if this is a translation error or not. Had forgotten this variant. So you mean such vehicle:

    That is exactly it.

The fake gun is on the right hand side, with a machine-gun in the middle for protection. I believe, although I'm not sure, that the turret was not fixed like some Befehlspanzers were. I'll have to look into that.

No, AFAIK the mg's are still usable and the turret turnable. It was only to get the needed room for the additional radio equipment. It's the same principal like for (some of) the "Befehlspanzerwagen" and some other special units. But especially for the Panzer III, it gives an variant for the "Befehlspanzer" which uses a new type chassis and an old type turret with a fully functional maingun. It's the Ausf. K (for Kommando - Command). I was fixated on that, so I had totally forgotten the "Befehlspanzer" variant.

S far as I know the (only one exemplar) Panther-Command tank with the panzer IV turret was the only fixed one, they can't rotate.

Some Befehlspanzer III had a fixed turret. I am not interested in Befehlspanzers, though.

Me too, but the observation version makes for me the same sense (ingame). But it's ok, if others find it useful.

Well, all of the variants we are making with Fortress Europe in mind, as we have more room for them than any other mod. However, it's just my preference to release them for public use as well, so that they can be used by whoever needs them. Also, in Fortress Europe, artillery is called in through Observers, so we have need for Observer tanks.

  22. #1222
It makes more sense if you consider that the observation tanks were going onto the battlefield, alongside the tanks, and requesting artillery to support them. Hence the need for a fake gun, so that they would blend in and not give their presence away.

Yeah - you don't want to announce to enemy tank gunners and AT crews "Hey! I have an officer onboard who can call in accurate artillery support! Plus I can't fight back too well!" Tends to make you a rather juicy target

Hi guys i had an idea and decide to share it,
if it be possibe to make the PE scout car (the one with the mg) with a closet top like the one with 20mm cannon.
reason-gunner get better protection and the vehicle is harder to kill.and i mean make it a state if possible not different model.
anyway like i said it's just a idea wich i wanted to share

I appreciate the idea, SlipSon, but the SdKfz 223 did not have a closed turret. It did have some wire mesh lids on top that might protect the crew from grenades, but they did not cover the entire opening. I don't think it's worth the time to model, honestly. Besides, if you're worried about a light armored radio car's protection, you're using it wrong!

90mm GMC M36B1 released, see first page for details. I was not able to get permission to release the M36 fix, though, so this will be standalone. Thanks to Halftrack, tankdestroyer, GnigruG and Xalibur for the model, animations, textures (modified by Xali) and UI, respectively.

Not to take away from the 90mm GMC M36B1, but I have also released some other things today as well. Thanks to Lethal Dosage for inspiring me to make my releases with the individual in mind, as from now on you can download each vehicle individually. Everything you need will be contained in their archives, self-contained if you will. I am going through and updating all my old work, as nothing is ever final and can always be improved (good advice, by the way). Anyways, here are today's other releases:

    2cm Flakvierling38 (1920rpm)
Flakpanzer IV "Wirbelwind" (1920rpm, Ausf. H exhaust)
Flakpanzer IV "Ostwind" (250rpm, Ausf. H exhaust)
    StuG IV (Ausf. H exhaust)

    With these possibly coming soon:

    SdKfz 222 (Alte)
    SdKfz 222 (Neu)

Oh, your going to blame it on me? It's looking great me, the individual releases will be a big help to a lot of people, and they should cut back on all the help request posts your get, even if only slightly. It's good that your also adding the date to each release when their updated, it'll be helpful to people like me who can't remember version numbers so well.

    I do what I can.

    @Celestial
Well, I uploaded new pictures and you want more, so I figured you could use the exercise.

    @Aidas2
I would still like to work with Lethal Dosage on attribs, but I don't have the time to do all of them myself. An M5A1 Light Tank with an M1919A4 is already planned, just a matter of getting to that point.

    @19.PzGrDiv
Several Wasp variants are on my list, and I've talked to various people in the past about making the model, but it always seemed to fall through. I would definitely like to see the Mk. II and Mk. IIC completed at some point.

The m36b1 gun isn´t moving up and down when firing on high or low targets. Any hint what could be wrong?

Ah, I forgot to include that in the readme. Good catch. Change your weapon's "anim_table" entries to the following:

    state_name: Main_Gun_State
    track_horizontal: Main_Gun_Horiz
    track_horizontal_speed: Main_Gun_Horiz_Speed
    track_vertical: 90mm_Vertical

Hmm soz eli, I didn't see the spoiler for the M36B1. It looks epic though.

LordEmperor: The halftrack is already released, look at the first post. And the only difference between the Stuart ingame and this one are the .50cal and the stowage.

The M3A1 is included in the American Half-track pack. Also, as far as I am aware, M5A1 Light Tanks were not issued M2HBs during World War II. From what I have seen, they were only issued the M1919A4. Other than that, I'm not sure why you are showing us the M5A1? It's already in game...
