I think the only vehicle worth resizing is the sdkfz 222 as it's a monster now ingame, big as a tank while in reality it's no bigger than a simple car.

Well if we resize the Sd.Kfz. 222, then you could just resize all vehicles in CoH. I know the 222 has a really weird sized turret and so, but it looks OK for CoH. Vehicles like the Geschutzwagen, Hellcat and Marder III are just visually oversized, even for CoH.
pushable states would be much appriciated for us heretical unhistorical mods =DI will most likely be animating it with towing in mind, so that it will have an in-tow state, a deployed state (with and without carriage nearby). I had considered having it pushed around like an AT gun, but it was rarely used in this manner. However, as with this year's other releases, the source files will be included for anyone that wants to do otherwise.
It's funny you should say that because I was just looking at a photo in one of my reference books of an Sd.Kfz 250/3 halftrack passing an Sd.Kfz. 223 light armoured car. The halftrack is almost dwarfed by the armoured car in terms of height, is about as wide and is only *slighty* longerI think the only vehicle worth resizing is the sdkfz 222 as it's a monster now ingame, big as a tank while in reality it's no bigger than a simple car.
Mind you the 250 WAS a fairly small vehicle...
I did a size comparision of the Hotchkiss and the Geschutzwagen in World Builder and they both match up size-wise (unlike the Hetzer and Marder III). However, the Hotchkiss and the Geschutzwagen are definitely too big compared to other units that are, more or less, sized properly (yes, I'm being a bit lenient there ). On that note, I think it would be best to concentrate on the vehicles that matter the most - the Marder III and M18 Hellcat - but that's just my two cents.
@Adiya The phenominal inacuracies in scale are why we have problems with crewed vehicals when we make them to the correct scale, ie the gunners ect dont fit in.
@Mirage knight ,the marder is a possabilty for reduction, as the crew compartment has some room to spare. But the geshutzwagon is an imposability, youd never get the crew in.
When is this rediculous debate about scale going to end. If you want the vehicles to be the right scale you will have to judge everything by the geshutzwagon. And scale everything else accordingly. Once youve done that youd have half a chance. Its that or scale the infantry down. Lets be honest those map houses would be awefully crowded with 15 of those infantry in them were they really that size.
None of you seriously believe that you can fit a 13 man squad plus driver and gunner into the allied halftrack as it is do you. Because if it was the correct size that is what youd have to fit into it plus theyre equipment.

Probably why Relic scaled up certain vehicles by as much as they did :/
So basically ALL the soldiers are too big?
No worries mate
The Germans got a crew of 4 in Standing upright in the vehicle, the side armour came up to just about chest high. But the geshutzwagon is an imposability, youd never get the crew in.
A bit cramped for sure, considering that the original Hotchkiss tanks had a crew of 2: Driver in the hull and gunner / loader / commander in the turret. You can see why the Germans added a new superstructure / fighting compartment ON TOP of the existing vehicle's hull.
But yeah - with infantry and such scaled the way they are, it does create a ton of problems. Silly Relic.
Edit: I think I see a big part of the problem with the Marder - has to do with how it's modeled. The floor that the gun crew stands on is too high. They should be standing quite a bit lower in the fighting compartment.
I think if you shrunk the Marder III, dropped the floor section a bit (if possible), and kept the crew at their present size but lowered their position, the Marder III would be fine.

Yes thats what i was considering for the marder, i was also considering a similar remedy for my su76, but the scaling wouldent be that much reduced, because of the amount of lockers ect in that.
Well the 4th crew member was a driver, and he wasn't in the gun compartment, so only 3 need to be in the compartment (Gunner, Loader, Commander). Squeezing crew into tight spaces is possible in real life because you're not restricted to a limited number of animations and postures, but Relic is, so they scaled a few things up in order to make it look right with their animations. Also not surprising that the worst offenders we've mentioned have exposed crew.
At some point, I would be interested to get some of the various minor nations' uniforms and equipment done, but that is more in the texturing realm. If anybody is interested in helping out in this regard, they could also be added to the list and made available for any mod to use. For example: Finnish, Hungarian, Italian uniforms, to name a few. A lot of them were very similar to uniforms that already exist, they would just need slight alterations. Others, for example the French Goum, could possibly modify the trenchcoat (to have the pin stripes) and use the British WW1 style helmet.
Would it be possible to reskin Voss' trenchcoat to look like this?
French Goumier Uniform
Or would it require a new model? I think the French helmet would need a new model, as I don't believe I've seen any mods with one (but I might be wrong).

In other news, DMz helped finish the Panther Variants model set that Medes had made for me a while back. It now shares the UV map of the Panther, so normal skins should apply. However, there are some noticeable differences on the hull for Ausf. D and Ausf. G that will need to be taken into account. For this, I will be implementing the same texture_swapper setup as the Panzer IV Variants package (which will be receiving an update soon with fixes).
This is pretty irrelevant to the topic at hand, and probably way too early to ask, but: are you going to model mix the Panzer IV skirts to achieve skirted variants of the MoW Panzer III? Or did you guys make unique skirts for your StuG III that you can use?
The Panzer III model is actually made by Aidas. With DMz' StuG III, he had already borrowed the Relic Panzer IV skirts and modified them for use with the StuG III. These can then be used on the Panzer III Ausf. M and N variants, whenever we are able to get models for those variants. Unfortunately, the Panzer III is only an Ausf. L at the moment, so no skirts.
Really cool stuff, and I'm excited to see it developed further in the future! Props to Aidas, didn't mean to misplace credit. :P
Wait, you guys already made a Stug 3? :o
(='.'=) This is Bunny. Copy and paste Bunny into your
(")_(") signature to help him gain world domination.
My new copula and barrel actually look okay :/
I musta done somthing wrong grrrr .
And Eli the left hand panther is boobytraped it will blow up after 40 seconds ingame, its my revenge for all the flipping and reuvmapping.
not only A stugIII more info should be revealed by dmz himself

Yes, DMz modeled a StuG III Ausf. A, D, F/8, G and proper StuH 42. It will be UV mapped soon and then handed over to skinners for final work. The treads and suspension are currently UV mapped and mostly animated with the Panzer III model.
I'm also going to dig up the M3A1 Scout Car (aka White Scout Car in British parlance) and fully animate it. I forget if it was UV mapped yet?
Its been uvmapped for over a year, if all else fails D.I.Y. Tiger variants almost done just got to flip them now Eli
Sounds good. I will start animating it, then. You can send me the DUKW if it is UV mapped as well.
At some point, for my 250 Neu project, I will need a new one sided mesh that covers the hole in the hull to fit my 2cm turret for the 250/9. Any chance your SdKfz 253 or whatever is UV mapped? I can include that in the 250 Variants package.
I decided to help Jaydilla animate his Italian vehicles, and he has generously agreed to release them publicly. The first of these to be worked on is the L6/40 Tankette, with a 20mm Breda 35:
It is already UV mapped, supposedly even textured, and now fully animated! I just need to figure out how to get my tread textures working on various tanks and then it it will be complete. Luckily, most Italian vehicles used one of two suspension types. The Semovente 47/32 uses the exact same suspension as the L6/40, so that will be next and can just be mixed with the animation I just made. Next up would be the M14/41, which will serve as the base for many vehicles: Semovente 75/18, Semovente 90/53 and Semovente 105/25 (which can be used in 1944 by Germans in Italy... more on that later ). Hopefully this will help a great many mods, including Jaydilla's own Europeans at War mod!
Technically it's a light tank but eh
Given the fact that it's only a couple of inches shorter than the Hotckiss light / cavalry tank, the L6/40 is going to be a rather small vehicle ingame, with a height of just over 2 meters (2.03 to be exact).
I must say Jaydilla did a fantastic job modelling that. I can't wait to see that skinned and all - along with any other vehicles he's doing
I just learned something new today: the Toldi I/II, Landsverk Anti-II and 40M Nimrod all share the same suspension! The latter two are basically the same thing, one being license built by the Hungarians.
Since I did not know this before, I am going to compile a list of all vehicles that share a common chassis. That way, if we are able to get modelers to make at least the suspension, we have a base to work with for any variants. Luckily for us, most of these suspensions are in the game already, with the exception of some minor power vehicles.
Hi eli, I can do a few things this Sunday and Monday coming up as I'm in the mood to and got work off, that is if its small such as smoothing or unwrapping things onto Relic's textures even small model fixes if I'm feeling lucky.
P.S I got bored and finished that M49 coaxial from a few months back (not very good screen shots but I did 4 and a half hours overtime so I worked from 1400 - 0200 so I'm tired )
I'm so tired i fergot why it took 2 months to be done.... I've still got to do the gun mount and not use the yucky Relic one :P
Nice to see the Italian tanks getting somewhere, will have fun using them
@Eliw00d, Pacific mod are sorting the dukw uvmap and skin, so you neednt worry about that.
@Adiya, please do your waffentraeger with a pak 43 on it. That will save me bothering finishing my cross mount pak 43. ATM its less then 50% done with no uv and its not on my priority list as im finishing all loose ends that are almost done before i go back over partially completed or just started projects.
Also i sent you the AEC III 75mm armoured car & normal pak43/41 the other day. Are you going to map/skin those for me, or shall i start on that once im done with the loose end ? .
Also id like to state point blank that once ive finished working on Eliw00ds tiger variants, I will be doing no work apart from the stug III uvmap untill that is finished. Im not going to allow myself to be further distracted from that.
Even then im probebly going to get stubbourn and finish my grant uv and the m31 recovery tank uv before moving onto other stuff. Im seriously after getting the anciant stuff i did two years ago off my hard drive so i can class it a finished. So nothing new for a while from me.
To be fair you would have had the Grant UV map if you didnt re-do the model 20 times, i gave up after 6, i admit cutting off 2000 tri's is quite impressive and am glad you listened but i didnt mean do EVERY LITTLE PART THAT COULD BE STRIPPED OFF
P.S the white is UV mapped eli
Eli, isn't the Panther Ausf G. supposed to have it's mudgards shortend?
Eliw00d Tiger variants in you folder. Mapped flipped smoothed, i added an extra hatch and a few otherr bits. Whole lot uses the tiger origional texture, plus dlc origional accesories and map stand.
I also uploaded a shorter copula for the panther with lower and not quite so deep obs slots.
Im now working on the stugg again so no more new stuff.
You now have :
: panzer IV variants.
: panther variants.
: tiger variants.
: alkett jagpanzer.
: flak43 trailered.
: flak43 ground deployed.
: duce & half 50 cal .
: treads and suspension plus wheels for Aidas Panzer IIIL.
: NEW Mid sturmpanzer IV
: NEW Late sturmpanzer IV
: pak43/41 if you can get it skinned and uvmapped.
: AEC III 75mm AC if you can get it skinned and uvmapped.
: 1897 75mm fiield\at gun if you can get it uvmapped and skinned.
: white scout car\command car if you can get it skinned.
If thats not enough to play with for now i can only say sorry im obviously getting old and not fast enough.
Pacific mod are uvmapping and texturing the DUKW as well as Texturing the ford gpa amphibious jeep that i had actually uvmapped, & which i can easily recolour to a russian gaz once its done.
I dont know if they have animator for them, so you could offer to do them once they are ready. Oh the dukw now has 2 different canopies to use, stowage in the back and a 50cal ring mount passenger side. Pic below.
As for the white scout car, i need a skinner for it, i uvmapped it over a year ago. If i dont get any offers ill have to put it onto my list after the grant and skin it myself. I think everyone knows i suck at skinning, so id rather not do that.
Eli do we still want this btw, its the new one i made and it wouldent take me long to uvmap and make wreck for......
Editing as i posted wrong pics, god such a muppet sometimes, so disorganised. Thats what happens when you decide to quit but change your mind, half the stuff gets lost all over the place. This is only partly smoothed but it Really wouldent take me long to uvmap skin and smooth, and Pacific would like to have it, so if your ok with it ill finish it, & maybe you could animate ? .
And also is Robotniks 90mm uvmapped yet or do i still have to do it ?
Sorry for the 200 questions......

i can do uvw mapping, but now i'm excluding any skinning/texture work to prevent me from distraction from piled other modeling works.
from next week, i will be VERY busy with my RL stuffs. will probably be inactive for a while. so i think i'll not taking more new projects before i can finish those unfinished in hands.
i'll keep you posted.
Ok well you can do pak 43 from scratch will be easier all round. If you could uvmap the AEC it would save me a lot of effort, but if you havent the time dont worry.. I will do it.
Well it can be alpha'd out easily, but it will always leave those ugly black lines a bit.
We are currently looking for a texture artist who is capable of skinning off of a UV map, specifically for the Italian vehicles we have in the works. Here are a few examples of what will need to be skinned:
Didn't Chopin texture half of those and did you read my pm? Can you send me a us soldier model so I could scale vehicles for you in the future?
Also, Eli, would it be possible to pull a 17/25 Pounder of?
Basicly a 17pdr gun mounted instead of the 25 pounder, keeping everything else from the 25 pounder,
Quote from this page http://www.btinternet.com/~ian.a.pat...partillery.htmShouldn't be too hard swapping out barrels or is it?As the first guns were being produced news of the appearance of the German Tiger Tank, so about 100 17-pdr barrels were fitted to 25-pdr carriages, as the proper 17-pdr split-trail carriages were not ready, and flown to North Africa, in 1943, to counter this new threat. The guns were code named "Pheasant" (officially known as 17-pdr MK2) and proved remarkably stable and robust in use, shown left. They served until the correct mounts were available. It should be noted that although these guns were rushed to North Africa to combat the Tiger tank, it was in fact a 6-pdr, which claimed the first Tiger "kill".

chopin have problem and is really busy
----- BLA BLA BLA BLA -----
@Eli Ok, thx.
@Jay Yeah, I know, just remember that he textured a lot of the vehicles and I think its better to have the unfinished textures than no at all.
Also Eli, could you get on steam, having some problems with your p4 package.
Here are some more WIP shots:
L6/40 with Commander/Gunner
Semovente 75/18 with Commander/Gunner and Loader/Radio Operator
Obviously, the vehicles won't really be able to fire when the Commander/Gunner is out and about, but useful for mods that have toggled Commanders. These vehicles are about 70% done, each. The remaining 30% is a mixture of states, FX, suspension and figuring out how to get my textures setup for animated treads.
Nice, like the 2 guys on the Sem, you'll be able to choose if to make only left or right appear or both, right?
Right, via "commander_upgrade" and "pintle_mg42_state". The vehicle only had a crew of three (Commander/Gunner, Loader/Radio Operator, Driver), so if both are up top, then the vehicle neither fires nor loads!
Also, I will be looking into a way to add the Semovente 75/34 as a variant, with mudguards / skirts and a bigger gun. Looking into other differences atm.
Nice and can you please join steam? Got a problem with your p4.
so these italian vehicles will be available for public use with credits right?
i would definately use them as captured vehicles.
Yes, they will be available for public use, so long as proper credits are given.
Quite a few of them were in use by the Germans in the Italian Front, such as the Semoventes 75/34 and 105/25. Once we have a basic texture (probably desert tan) done on these, they can be recolored by others to fit whatever theater and owner.
