So for this quarter of the painting competitions, it will be myself and Ciaphas Cain running it, thanks FightingFirst for running the first set of competitions, congratulations to the winners!

So to start out it will be the Psyker, Open and Miniature-Exchange competitions for this round.(If anyone thinks that we should hold off on the exchange competition and wait for the next set of the comps, just let me know)

Rules

Entry
Competition entry will close at 1900hrs (GMT) on June 23rd, 2010 - no entries will be accepted past this date.(This will give people enough time to enter and complete the miniatures, date is subject to change) All entries must include a photograph of the UNPAINTED or primed (this means NO basecoat; a plain white, black or gray primer is acceptable; PM me if you're not sure) model(s) you are painting taken in front of this post and what category (categories) you are entering in. NO PHOTO in front of this post = NO ENTRY!!!! A photograph with suitable dated material (ie the day's newspaper) is also acceptable. Please supply a photo for each category you enter and of every model you will be submitting.
Each category will have 2 tiers; upper and lower. Please select the appropriate tier for your skill level. The competition moderators reserve the right to move entries from one tier to another to ensure the competition will be fair.
Entries should be made in the format below -

Submissions
All finished entries must be submitted via PM to Sethero or myself/Ciaphas(?) by June 25th at midnight GMT. No entries will be accepted after this time. Your submission should
consist of links to 3 photographs no larger than 800x600 pixels (One entry photo may be a composite of multiple angles/shots). These should be hosted on a photo-sharing website such as Flickr or Photobucket. Links should be sent in plain text with the entire web address written out. It's preferable that they are supplied without image
tags.

ALL timings for this comp are in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). It is your responsibility
to convert your local time to this to ensure that you meet the competition deadlines.

Categories
Psyker - This can be any 40k related Psyker model that fits onto a 25/40/60mm base (60mm to include Hive Tyrants and Librarian Dreadnaughts since they will probably be some of the popular entries) conversions are welcome, but must relate to a Games Workshop product and should be composed of at least 50% Games Workshop parts. The model must appropriately fit on a 60mm or smaller base.

Open - This can be any 40k model that is GW produced, same as above, at minimum 50% GW parts. (No LoTR or Fantasy)

Miniature Exchange - Anything you got from the miniature exchange, doesn't matter if it is GW produced or not, just has to be one of the miniatures you received from your sender.

You CANNOT enter more than once in each category.

Any inquiries about models can be asked in the thread as to what constitutes what.

I'd consider them psykers...since they can do all that coommunicating through the warp nonsense.

List of just a few off the top of my head:
Astropaths, librarians, Imperial guard psyker, inquisitor, weirdboy, just about anything eldar, chaos sorcerer, grey knights, librarian dreadnaught, hive tyrant, zoanthrope, and that's all i have off the top of my head, although I'm sure there are more.

Where would Typhus fall? He has psyhic powers but I cant find in his description (4th ed CSM) anywhere that is saying that he is a psyker.

Ummmmm is there anyone who would know where Typhus can be placed? If you want to play it safe, go in the Open category, but if there is confirmation on his psyker-ness then why not toss him in there.

Ah, Society, according to 40k fluff Typhus was NOT a psyker UNTIL he was infected with the Destroyer hive, becoming the living embodiment of said hive. Considering the hive is a warp construct of Nurgle, I say we consider him a psyker.

Typhus is almost as good a pysker as Ahriman rules wise, so I would say he'd count.

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself.. I was surprized to see this exclusivly 40k, as opposed to open to all GW ranges

We were originally considering using Fantasy as well (we're going to stick to Warhammer only, as this IS the Warhammer forum), but figured that might be a wee bit complicated for the Open category. However, I think if there's overwhelming support for the Fantasy minis as well, I wouldn't be opposed to modifying the rules. We'll see.

To cleear any confusion up, The ONLY category you can enter non-40k models in is the Exchange category since that category can be anything you received from your sender

Next quarter I'm sure there will be some more freedom me thinks, but to keep true to this sub-forum, 40k only.

I have a question.

Just a thought that popped into my head:
The Rhino I got in the exchange is just that, a normal Rhino.
Does the rules of the exchange category mean that I can't nurgle it up with GS and additional bits? Is it supposed to be just the bits from the exchange and nothing else?
Maybe a silly question, but I thought I'd put it here just to be sure.

As long as it doesn't alter the model to be something it wasn't originally supposed to be, it's perfectly fine to put a little bit of green stuff on it.
