Comprehensive Wargear Overview

    Comprehensive Wargear Overview

I recently bought "Chaos Rising" and started playing "Last Stand" again. I played when it was released a while back but got distracted with other games in the meantime. So, the first thing I was eager to check out were, of course, the new heroes. So after playing them for some time I was curious what wargear will await me in later levels and I was disappointed when there was no useful overview.

Furthermore I was surprised to discover that this doesn't even exist for the old heroes. Instead of complaining I simply made it myself. The data collection was done by friendly people in the official forum.

    Here you go: http://dow2.gamereference.org/

This is a work in progress and features like plain text versions, maybe lists and something more professional than pop-ups are planed.

Nice work. Just one error after a quick glance: the captain's level 1 bolter lets you use blind grenades.

The bolter also raises energy regeneration.

The bolt pistol raises health regeneration, while the master-crafted chainsword heals the captain on attack.

All in all, very good work. It's pretty too ^^

Please click on the wargear icons. This thing is interactive and ALL data is there. The stuff on the image itself is only a dumb and short overview. There is a whole database behind it. I have corrected the "blind grenade" anyway and added a phrase to indicate the interactivity.

Well, not to rain on your parade, (nice work on getting all the info transcribed from tooltips and put into a nicer format), but this has been done almost a month ago.

I like the design on this page better. Good job.

You might want to take a closer look. It is because of my frustration with this crappy site (dow2.info), that I have even started with this. Some of the data there is simply incorrect, a lot is missing, there are no level descriptions and I provide very detailed data about the wargear such as armor mitigation, damage, shots fired, cooldown, energy cost, chance for special melee attacks, what the special abilities actually do etc. So no, the other site doesn't even come close even at this early stage of this project.

Anyway, here is a preview of the next iteration. It is not yet interactive and all the details are removed because they will be shown in an overlay on mouse-over or by clicking. Link

I understand the motivation for your work, really, good job and work on that. However in terms of actual useful data, unless you start digging through the game data files and provide real, useful, and currently unknown information, your project maintains almost no advantage over the dow2.info except for a prettier presentation. From what I see, all you are doing is providing tooltip data. The same data any person can just start up Last Stand and look up by themselves. However, if the "any person" does not yet have that wargear in their inventory, dow2.info does 95% of the "show what toy you get in the future" as it is.

The tooltip data barely reveals anything useful. It does not tell ability damage, duration, exact effects, summoned unit statistics, etc. Transcribing barely useful data into a prettier format does nothing to improve the information presented itself. Now, if you could recruit a competent corsix tools user (like Buguba or some other kind soul from the mod forums), this project would gain truly immeasurable value for TLS players. But unless you do that, this is really not going to do much other than being a pretty, organized preview of items you get.

Though if that is what you are aiming for, more power to you.

"But unless you do that, this is really not going to do much other than being a pretty, organized preview of items you get. Though if that is what you are aiming for, more power to you."

And that is exactly what this is all about. This whole thing is not for the hardcore player (at least until now) but for people like me who only have time to level one, maybe two heroes and always try to anticipate if it is worth the effort to gain any more levels.

Up until now, there haven't even been information about the levels you gain your stuff. Sure, in some thread in some forum you'll find maybe the farseer wargear up until level 17 and maybe in another thread in yet another forum you'll be able to find the last three levels and so on but this is the first time ever in over a year, you'll be able to see all this information in one place.

However, your wish might yet come true. People (Sapo84) on the official forum are currently at work to provide detailed data on the abilities. Here a sneak peak:

    Sorcerer
    doombolts: duration 3, recharge 5, range 50, damage 22, 4 radius, 8 shots

doomblast: duration 1, recharge 3, radius 6 (12 with greater sorcery), damage 8 (10 with greater sorcery), with master sorcery increases defence by 200 for 4s

Curse of Tzeentch: recharge 3, range 30, duration up to 10s, damage 2 health and 1 energy per second, explosion radius 7, explosion damage 30

Warpfire: recharge 5, range 18, radius 3X21 (42 with master sorcery), damage 24, speed of 3 every 0.2s, 0.1s cast time

Warp: recharge 2, range 50, burn 15s, burn damage 5+3+1

Well, that explains Doombolt's unholy damage output. 176 damage in 1 volley with up to 70% damage bonus from other gear? Jesus. Farseer's Eldritch Bolt and Captain's Frag Grenades needs a leg up, bad.

The comparison between Warpfire and Let the Galaxy Burn! numbers just furthers my theory that whoever designed Sorc/Tyrant abilities was smoking crack.

Just wanted to say that after closer inspection I like this more and am really looking forward to all that info o.o

good stuff vickar i made a thread a while back trying to figure out by how much did doomblast increase your armor with the master sorcery item. Thanks for that, and yes a page that shows all the info beside the damn tooltips for last stand would be greatly appreciated

The new site is up and I have added the so called "expert data" that is currently available. As of now there is only "expert data" for the farseer and the sorcerer and a little for the tyrant but I hope to add more soon.

    Now that is very nice.

Also, nice to see the exact explanation as to why Icon of Change is beyond terribad. It's basically an Eldritch Bolt at a longer cooldown that you cannot target. At all. Brilliant design, I must say. Relic's QA department needs a buff.

Fortune also does a lot more than I thought it would. 50% damage reduction per stack? Interesting. That would mean just 2 Fortunes should be enough to match Tyrant Scream based damage reduction, and 3-4 stacks should more than account for Tyrant's high base armor and summons diluting fire. Does lack of HP restoration truly hurt her so much as a tank?

Would be nice to see Tyrant summon stats to (Armor/HP/Regen). And then enemy unit stats.

Added detailed captain data for most wargear.

Edit: Oh, error reports are certainly welcome. Most of the text is as of now unchecked for typos, proper English, inter-punctuation, etc. However, if you see something in that vein, you can report it here too although this is currently a secondary concern.

Excellent website. Looks pretty and is informative.

All we need now is an interactive "Hero Builder" and everyone can theorycraft to their heart's content. :P

    Really well done, good sir.

Last Stand is honestly not complex enough to warrant literal char builders. Too few attributes interacting, no scaling of any sort, and almost anything can be tested in under 30 minutes due to repetition and small number of waves. The most complex thing I can think of is a sort of chart thing with a list of enemies and relevant HP/armor values to see what abilities do model kills of what in what circumstances.

Ergo, we need moar waves and moar randomized waves so theorycrafting and hit-to-kill-target charts would have a proper use.

Oh man, brings back memories of Diablo and epic mathcraft involved in comparing bow damage under various aura and equipment attribute modifiers; or epic arguments on equiping Tal Rasha set for dual-element Sorcs... Who knew statistics can be so fun when channeled into an interesting goal?

Looks better and better. Shame that every subpage has a title: DoW2-Last Stand-Capitan

  19. #19
    @Foof
I'm already on that but that's a secondary project and will not come to fruition until the data is more complete. I agree, that a builder is not needed but I'm interested in doing it from a technical standpoint. This is the first time ever I use php/mysql and I'm amazed by how easy it is and the next step is interactivity which fits the bill of of a builder perfectly. So basically all of this is for my personal educational purposes.

    @GrimDark
    Say what?

  20. #20
I mean the page title visible on the blue window bar - every page (Mek, Tyrant) has the same title.
    It's in the HTML <head>:
    Code:
    <title>DoW2-Last Stand-Captain</title>

  21. #21
Ah ok, I see. I'll correct it the next time I lay hand on it.

  22. #22
Added expert Mekboy data and made the information a bit easier on the eyes.

Awe, no one found data on Electric Armor and Boomtime?

  24. #24
Well, it is not yet complete. The first wave of data is done with broad strokes. Filling the gaps will happen after that.

  25. #25
Added some Tyrant data and a new entry page. And this will probably be my last post here because it doesn't make much sense to maintain two threads in two forums. I know it's considered rude to link to other forums but hey, I'm not writing something about viagra here and try to lure you on trojan infected russian warez-sites. So I guess it's ok. It's in the official forum and here you go.

This is a good tool and talking about gear is a FAQ. Stickied for the time being.

Witchblade of Isha incorrectly lists +25 health. It is actually +25 energy.

Do you plan to update after Retribution relase?
    Orkz da best!

Questions on the new DLC wargear Space Marine armor:
    - What % of your original damage is applied to nearby targets?
    - Does the splash/AOE damage effect count as multiple hits? Will it trigger Zealous efffects or Lightning Claws multiple times? (Would probably be overpowered, but you can't blame me for hoping so )

If anyone can tell me, much obliged!

  31. #31
Will this be updated for the Tau Commander? and the new DLC wargear options for the others?

  32. #32
late to the party by...several months. but this is excellent. great work.
