    Return of Eliphas

    Hello everyone. This mod is a purely aesthetic change that fans of Eliphas (and people that would just prefer a Chaos Lord in Power Armor) may like.




    Features

    • Visually changes the Chaos Lord from Araghast to Eliphas in skirmish and multiplayer.

    • Changes the UI portraits of the Chaos Lord and his upgrades/wargear where necessary.

    • Added a helmet to the Aspiring Champion so there's no crazy Eliphas clones running about.

    • Two new weapon upgrades for the Chaos Lord as the Blood Maul and Lightning Claws needed replacing.

    • Swapped most (soon to be all) of the original Chaos Lords speech files with certain lines that I have selected from Eliphas' speech from the campaign.

    • This was made to be totally multiplayer and ranked game compatible.


    How to Install


    Before Installation

    First of all Make backups of your DOW2.module file found in:

    H:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\dawn of war 2
    Also make a backup of your DOW2.ucs file found in:

    H:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\dawn of war 2\GameAssets\Locale\English
    Installation

    Download this <---
    Then simply unpack the .7z file to your game directory.

    This is an example though yours may be different
    H:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\dawn of war 2
    Known Bugs

    • Sync kills for the Bloodfeeder(Lightning Claws) do not show an animation.


    • There is no animation for the immolate ability for the Combi-Flamer.


    • There is no animation for the Let the galaxy burn! ability.

    Pretty sweet, tho I've never been a big fan of Eliphas without his triumphant helmet from Dark Crusade

    Yes I gave them the Chaos Marine epic helmet, I had no idea what it looked like before I tested it in game. Thought it looked awesome though.

    Yeah it's good , really nice choice.

    Altho you could try to mix it up with the old CL's helmet since after a certain rank the champions won't be distinguishable from their bretheren.

    I could but I was going to use Araghasts helmet in a helmeted version of this mod as its quite similar to the Helm of Lorgar that Eliphas can wear in Dark Crusade.

    I see , that sounds good.

    Still you might want to think of a way to make the helmet champions a little bit more distinguishable from their squads.

    One option i can think of is model a new helmet , altho that one is harder.

    The other i can think of is to make the champion's helmet colourable by a different palete then the primary one. That's what the helmets mod does for the SM sarges and it works quite well.

    Very nice mod.
    Given time and permission, I might would like to add him as the Chaos Lord, with a Terminator upgrade in tier2 or 3 like the SM FC.

    May I also have permission to use your wargear models for the hellblade and bloodfeeder for Codex Edition?

    Regarding helmets for your Aspiring Champions, Shuma's thread on his new wargear models has a whole set of helmets and models for the aspiring champions.

    The Hellblade is the Bloodletters sword, I just edited the UCS file and changed the descriptions, the upgrade image was made by me however.

    You have permission to use the Bloodfeeder and anything else, just give me credit.

    So how did you make this guy? i've been trying to make a CL in power armor and i've been failing miserably, most of the time i don't even get as far as the menu screen and i just get Relic's Bug Crash report window.

    Main problem is that i want him to replace the CL and have him as a Ranked compatible mod and it's probably the animations that are screwing everything up. So, mind sharing how you did this to get some ideas?

    I had a crash before the loading screen too but with help I found out it was caused by my module file that was made by DoW2 Mod Studio. Nothing to do with the mod.

    To change the Chaos Lord to the Champion go to Data\art\race_chaos\troops\chaos_lord

    Swap the following:
    chaos_lord.model
    chaos_lord.motiontree
    chaos_lord.hkanim
    and the folder animations

    With:
    chaos_aspiring_champion.model (in Data\art\race_chaos\troops_wargear\armour\chaos_aspiring_champion)
    chaos_marine.motiontree (Data\art\race_chaos\troops\chaos_marine)
    plague_marine.hkanim (Data\art\race_chaos\troops\plague_marine)
    and the plague marines animations folder (Data\art\race_chaos\troops\plague_marine

    Of course rename these so they overwrite the Chaos Lords files.

    The reason I chose the Plague Marines animation instead of the Chaos Marine is because the Chaos Marine is hunched back and I personally thought it would look better with him standing tall.

    Do not change the .simbox and .marker files as this stopped ranked play for me.

    Oh and one last thing I had to add the backpack to chaos_aspiring_champion.model in Max.

    I have a question for you too Shuma. I have been playing around with textures for the Chaos Marines, when I save my edited team colour DDS it saves as a black image, any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    It still causes the crash, however even repacking your exact same files i get the crash and i'm packing it with the Mod studio so it must be a problem with that, so how did you fix that problem and what was the problem?

    As for the team textures issue are you saving them as DTX5? And if you are what program are you using to edit them?

    Edit the original DOW2.module file to load the SGA's don't let the Mod Studio make it for you. I don't remember the exact problem with the module file though.

    I'm using Photoshop CS4 with the Nvidia DDS plugin and I am saving it as a DTX5, but it definately only happens with the _tem.dds files.

    Damn, that's what i'm doing so the problem must be something else... Well thanks anyway.

    As for your problem, weird i'm also using PSCS4 how are you editing the tem files? Are you making sure to also edit the Alpha channel?

    Does downloading and running my mod work?

    And even not editing the DDS and saving it again makes it turn black.

    Yeah your mod works fine, weird thing is that even if i extract everything from your .sga and repack it, then add the repacked .sga to the DoW 2 module it crashes.

    But i've used 2 different tools to pack the .sga now and it still crashes.

    As for your problem do you mean that when you re-open the file it's all black? That's weird, and makes no sense to me... Isn't it possible that you're looking at one of the color channels that's all black? like the alpha channel?

    The last thing i can suggest is using the tool I use to package the SGA's.

    I just saw your post in your Ranked compatible mods thread, If all else fails I would gladly try and do the same for your Khorne Lord model and see if it works.

    And on my texture problem, no all the channels just turn black after I save it =/

    My mind has been blown. THAT did it.

    Victory is delicious, i'll never understand why it failed with the other 2 .sga packers but at least i'm making some good progress now.

    As for your texture problem, it doesn't make any sense to me that they turn black just by saving them that shouldn't happen, do you have any extra layers? Failing that send me your _tem files and i'll take a look at them to see if i see anything wrong with them.

    Haha nice image, good to hear you can get back to work now.

    Theres no point in sending anything, I only have to open one of the _tem's and save it without editing anything and it turns everything but the alpha channel black.

    Then i'm afraid i have no clue what's 'causing that problem. Maybe you could ask Hangar 8 for advice i'm sure he knows more about how DoW II textures work than i, but all in all i don't know what could 'cause the problem.

    Do you have this problem with any other kind of files like the diffuse textures?

    Nope I've successfully saved the diffuse textures and got them into the game, its only _tem files, I guess I'll ask Hangar 8 then, thanks for the assist anyway.
