I think Halftrack may a little tied up with post-release bug fixing, etc., which is something all largeish mods go through... with each release we expect to be able to have a nice rest for a short while, but with every release we quickly get swamped with bugs being reported and we struggle to trace them back to their source, fix them, test ingame, then release a hotfix or patch.

Once Halftrack has released a patch fixing all the glaring (and often easily fixed) bugs, i suspect he'll take a rest and compile the remaining new models at his own leisure.

I may be wrong, but i think i remember Halftrack once stating that modders may extract the models they need from this new version of BotB once it's released, as he wouldn't have time or didn't wish to cobble together any more individual releases until after the BotB release. And really, it's not terribly hard for a modder to extract the model files and and make his own Attrib files for a new unit.

That's understandable, I was only inquiring. I guess a revised question would be: are we allowed to use the BotB models publicly? Or should we wait for them to be released in the far future (after BotB is patched)?

LD is completely right. I am busy fixing bug issues instead of taking a rest.

So, you could of course take the models out, if not released yet.
Personal request would be nice, though. I really am no big fan of ripping.
You may face difficulties with the skins, as most of them are individually winterized.

The models will go public soon after the patch, which is not so far off...

That is all I was looking for, thanks Halftrack! Good job on BotB, by the way! I'll try to get your cupola packaged up soon, just been busy with school and StarCraft 2.

I had no intention of ripping them from your mod, which is why I was wondering about the public release of said models.

    Hi halftrack

So, ive been playing around with model fixes like your revised pershing and found that they can be adapted to skinpacks with no RGD or attribarchive work.

My problem is that the revised pershing I am using always is deployed with the top hatch open.

Im assuming that this is because there is no .rgd or ebps/spbs entry for the tank_crew commander that is supposed to pop up on top.

Ive messed with the .abp for the pershing, still cant get the hatch to close, I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to do this?

Maybe it would be a good idea to release a version with no tank commander so this model revision can be directly ported over to vCoH for personal usage without the silly open hatch?

Thanks again for your great work!

The hatch can't close as it's not animated. At the very least he'll have to reanimate it, otherwise he'll probably need to remodel it with a seperate hatch that can be animated to open and close.

If Halftrack sends me the Max files, I can animate the hatch for his vehicles.

Actually, the models in BotB all have animated hatches. Not sure about the Pershing, though.

  10. #110
    Pershing's not in BotB.

Wrong time frame for that tank.

Right, I knew that. But still, most of the models have been updated with animated hatches.

Shove a commander in the hatch, that will solve the open problem, without reanimating.

according to TD , animating the pershings hatch is not that easy, because of the angle
( 45 dgrees ) of the axle. So we decided to skip that..

Impossible if I would still like to play vCoH multiplayer.
Right now, the turret works online, but i cant change vCoH attrib files and still have it be compatible in automatch.

Again, not a big deal. I can deal with the open hatch if its too hard to animate.

Adding a commander through the action_apply_ext is possible, and it will still work online.

    @Halftrack
Unless I misunderstood, it sounds like the same issue I came across with the Sturmpanzer's hatch, because the pivot point was at a weird angle. However, I was able to rotate it using a method Darkblade taught me, so I'm assuming I can do the same for the Pershing. Let me know.

hey halftrack, i've been trying to get ahold of you, but your forum has been invaded by spam bots and the PM system is broken. i was wondering if it would be possible to get permission to use the updated jumbo from botb with 50.cal support? thanks.

Thanks Halftrack! Quite a surprise to see another release here after so long. I take it you have some free time to finally get it done at the moment? Excellent!

I take it from the note in the first post that the King Tiger still requires it's skin to be specially edited to work on some graphics settings?

Basically it works with every Kingtiger Skin around, but like the other models here, its not totally 1:1.
You will encounter details not fitting exactly, and stuff from the Porsche turret like welding seems,
ventilation exhausts overlapping and such things. but those are minor details. As for the other
models, its most important to use the alpha channel and the occlusion map and a good idea to use at least
    the norm/spc/gls maps.

No sorry needed HT. I'm waiting for this since I have seen the first KingTiger ingame, and later then Scruffy would create one, but shame, we lost him.

oh, ok. I meant, that these models have been finished quite long ago ( 8 months or so ) and
appeared in several mods already, and I am sorry that it took me so long to release them
    completely..

I talked to Halftrack about it some time ago, but I would be willing to animate the hatch. I would just need the Max file.

its not so easy... if it was, I am sure TD would have animated them, too.

Besides, I just have the maxfiles before anything animationwise was applied... you will have to animate EVERYTHING again.

@Leophone: Nobody forces you to use the new Pershings model. If you dont like it, dont use it. Or change your tone, please.

I animated the hatch for the Sturmpanzer just fine. I can handle the Jagdpanther hatch as well as the barrel pitch, yaw and recoil. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Excellent Jumbo Halftrack, glad to finally have one with the working hatch and the gun ring/bracket for the .50cal MG. All the extra equipment on the 105 and Jumbo look great, and they really help to identify them from the Relic shermans.

Looking forward to future releases of some of the other new models used in BotB, inparticular the M5 76mm and the Wespe. Great work, and i'm once again glad your getting some time to release these properly.

Edit: Halftrack, i noticed when the Jumbo model is upgraded (with the standard 76mm upgrade), there are no firing effects. The gun barrel doesn't recoil (also effecting the Relic model from memory) and there isn't any smoke fx or or firing sounds.

Sorry halftrack, i didnt ment it so bad.
I love that you made the pershing model even though there already was one. perfectness ftw!
but if you want it to be 100% perfect the hatch should really shut when the commander is toggled off.
It will look epic just like on the tiger. commander popping in and out of the tank applying different modifiers.

  42. #142
Awesome, as always...I like the fact you're releasing them as proper complete packs ready to use. Top Quality

As I can recall from the books I recently read , the Jumbo used only 75W gun ,maybe they was only few 76W but I must say that Jumbo must be insight with the 75W gun. But just is a point .
Thanks for your uploads You are still No1.

Jumbos officially used the 75mm gun. However, some units upgunned their Jumbos in the field with 76mm guns from damaged Shermans or wherever they could get them. Having both is historical and flavorful at the same time. If there is an issue with the .rgo, I could offer to fix it.

I noticed something really odd with the pershing model,
it is not really noticeable i just wonder WTF IS THAT?

  47. #147
    @Leophone

it would seem from looking a your pictures that there are portions of another turret model showing up underneath the pershing turret i would gather that this must have been something that was obviously not intended. I can clearly see the leftover of a gun mantlet and portions of a frontal plate showing through the model.

dont know whats up with the persing there, I ll check that if I find the time.

The jumbo is missing the right data for the gun I guess, as I said, I forgot how to bring that 76mm into action.
    Will be delivered asap.

meanwhile a screenie of some WiP in 3ds Max: I am working at the old baby, the Sturmtiger, which still needs to
be animated correcty... and while at it, it got some more detail
