Venerable Dreadnought
Unique properties:
Doesn't need to enter the Droppod to switch wargear, but is locked down while exchanging weapons. Equipping new weapons takes more time compared to other heroes.
Possibly suppression/bleeding immunity and a more resistant armour type.
Wargear options:
- Power claws
- Assault Cannon
- Multimelta
- Missile launcher (? Not sure how much work it is to attach Chaos dread weaponry)
- Autocannon (?)
Abilities:
- Emperor's Might (Standard ability)
- Charge (Standard ability) <- Not sure about those two, since they overlap with Warboss abilities
- Undying inspiration (Nearby friendly heroes can not die while ability is active, but still take normal damage - possible "ultra" ability?)
- Machine spirit (Greatly reduces received damage, but also removes player control for x seconds - possible taunt?)
- Smoke Launchers (Deploys a smokescreen around the Dreadnought, reducing ranged damage)
- Deathless warrior (Self-heal, prohibitve cost/cooldown - possible "ultra" ability?)
- Rigorous stroke (Disables target's weaponry and briefly increases its received damage. Power claws only, can only target vehicles)
- AC Barrage/Advanced targetting (Standard ability, alternatively high-damage precision shots with a lower rate of fire. AC only)
- Meltastream (A prolonged Multimelta burst. Deals heavy damage to the (small) target area, but triggers an increased weapon cooldown. Multimelta only)
- Hunter-killer missile (Fires a high-damage (next to no AOE though), long ranged missile. Missile launcher only)
- HE-rounds (Loads highly explosive Autocannon rounds, making the next bursts deal weapon knockdown. Autocannon only)
It's problematic trying to form this hero after the existing mold. As mentioned, what about bleeding, weapon upgrades, suppression? How balanced would such a survivable "tank" hero with the option of powerful ranged weapons be? I intended to harmstring the unit by largely restricting AOE abilites outside of close combat. If necessary, versatility could be limited by requring an irrevocable variant choice - Ironclad, Furioso, etc. Nevertheless, I'd love to see this hero unit in sorm form, and I'm confident that you can make it happen
