I write this with extreme sadness in my heart.
Loran Korn mentioned he was leaving the community and you were all surprised of the suddenness of it. I was not.
You see - Loran - a dear, dear friend, was keeping something from you all. In his desire not to draw attention to himself, in his typical selfless manner, he never mentioned why he knew he had to leave.
Loran Korn was dying.
We spoke often and I held hope the inevitable would never arrive. Loran said he wanted to just disappear if it happened, and let the focus remain away from him and on the work and team.
Unfortunately, two nights ago, the inevitable became reality.
Loran Korn passed away - with his dear love Anett at his side.
Loran and I were very close - closer than most of you can imagine for an "internet" friendship. Anett, knowing how close Loran and I were, passed on a message to me from Loran written for when that terrible day arrived. I will treasure that and I am thankful that she understood how much he meant to me and let me know even in her time of incredible grief.
I asked Anett if she would mind if I let you guys know and said some things about my dear friend, so that he be remembered and honored properly. She agreed to allow me to do so, and again for that I am thankful.
Loran lived his last days in his "paradise" with his love at his side. He had the time to see his beautiful children before he passed and wanted to leave nothing behind. He stayed upbeat and pure til the end. He was a true friend - never thinking of himself but only others. When we spoke, even when he knew his end was near, he took the time to thank me (though I am the one who was thankful) and let me know how much he enjoyed his work here and his life, as well as our friendship.
To be honest - I only wish to die with as much dignity, loyalty, love, honor, and selflessness as he.
I ask this on his behalf...
Remember him for his incredible talent.
Remember him for the fact that he never had a negative thing to say about anyone.
Remember him for all he has done for all of us here.
Try not to be sad - though grief is natural.
Try not to be discouraged - as his legacy will live on.
Remember him properly - as a man who's only goal here was to give, and never to receive.
Smile when you think of him - smile when you see his work - smile as he is smiling in his avatar when you see it.
I can only wish that you all could know him as I did.
I will personally do all in my power to see that he still leaves nothing "unfinished". I will try and get all his work in game as he wanted it.
I also call on my team to help me in this proper way to honor Loran, and all who wish to lend a hand are welcome to help. Of all the people I have known here and had to pleasure to befriend, Loran deserves that more than anyone.
His dearest Anett will continue to be here - downloading his work as a reminder of just how talented he was.
Feel free to send your condolences to her - she needs them and I am sure would love to know just how treasured Loran was.
We will never forget you Loran - you were as wonderful a person as you were talented.
