Is the scale of the game going to be consistent? Like, will vehicles and buildings be the size they actually WOULD be, or is Relic following the path of most games and making them smaller? Also, will the vehicles be shrunk at all?

those screenies with the land raider rock!!!!
Indeed, thanks.
Just a small note here. The scale by the models that exist is correct. However, the scale to the universe is wrong.
Lemme explain...
I knew a guy who worked as a sculpter for GW (well he became one of there apprentices anyway, went to work for Havok instead I think...fool) anyhooo...
Apparently all the 'big stuff' vechicles, deadnaughts, walkers, battelsuits etc... are all scaled to 1/3rd the size it would really be.
ie a Sapce marine stands about 7' tall. By the models the LandRaider is therefore about 14'. But occurding to the scaling that I have been told, it should be about 52' !!! These things should be HUGE!
The reason why they are scaled down is too make them cheaper apparently. Now my only gripe with is... sentinels and war walkers, they clearly show the crewman... now if the vehicle was really 3 times bigger, the crew would look rather.... out of place....
but like I said I was told this by a guy who worked for 'em. Either he was pulling me chain or he was right...
Although I must say, for the Background of the system, I think the scaling should be like that, most of the images of concept art, show the vehicles being alot bigger than the corresponding models. Any one else got any ideas/gripes about this?
Just incase, I'm wear my flame retardent underwear =]
Hmmm, not sure about that, to be honest. Some of the models are definitely the size they are made compared to the others -- look at the warwalker, it has an eldar pilot there in its front. I really don't think that the eldar pilot, when standing, would be 3X the size of other eldar :bandit:
But as far as tank sizes being off, you bet they are off a bit, not sure if 3X, but being able to cram a dozen marines in power armor into a raider, the raider would have to be larger than how it was produced. Also, a 50 foot long tank does not seem that practical to produce, and it would be a much larger target, and be a bear in any sort or urban setting.
Edit: And WOW, that pic IS impressive. Thanks for the link!

I think I can clear this up.
When they make a new vehicle the prototype is modelled at 3 times the size of the final piece. This prototype is then scaled down using "some kind of magic", I've forgotten the exact process but it used to involve a 3d version of those toys (a big pivoting arm with a pen on it) you used to get for making a drawing larger or smaller. This is to make it easier to model.
The final model is the correct scale for the universe, the protoype is three times the size.
yeah i said that....look at the warwalker, it has an eldar pilot there in its front. I really don't think that the eldar pilot, when standing, would be 3X the size of other eldar
not saying you are wrong
but i suggest looking at some of the new images from EPIC:Armageddon site, those Leman Russ tanks with infantry near them. In the models the track is about 1 1/2times the height of a guardsman, in that image its look to be over 2 times... I see if I can find the image again, I forgot to grab it lolThe final model is the correct scale for the universe, the protoype is three times the size.
Oooh they are atually within the PDF's so I can't grab it to show you all. But i suggest you read those rules anyway. I like them, kinda a happy mix between 'Space Marine' and 'Epic:40k'
Well, I assume that artistic licence prevails in GW's artwork. Want to make a tank look more threatening? make it bigger...
most of the in-game models would need a size increase of 125% to be to scale in most cases.
Like even the new Rhino could hold ten marines. At best, it could hold 6.
Death holds no fear only for the fool. An Astartes' duty is to control that fear and turn it into a blind hatred of the end of his life, for it brings with it the inability to fulfil his duty to the Emperor.
you know the only problem i see is that sergeant getting in the land raider with his banner pole![]()
lmaoyou know the only problem i see is that sergeant getting in the land raider with his banner pole
