*sigh* more flying Land Raiders. This time on steroids and even bigger capacity.
I like how these old pattern power armours and power packs remind of the "old old" ones carried by my cheerful band of CSM.

I can't stand the whole concept of the caestus, it's built for ship-to-ship boarding, I don't see marines thinking "fuck it, lets ram it into stuff in the ground war and see what happens. Sergeant, deploy 3 tactical squads, devastators, 2 predators, a vindicator and a flying ram from space"
And skimmer rules, look at it, look at the freaking wings on it, and it's supposed to glide like a falcon or speeder...
I can see it working as a boarding vehicle in space, but leave it in space. What's next?
"Battlebarges are mainly used as space marine strike cruisers in orbital combat, but they found that landing the fuckers on the enemy on the ground was also very effective, here are the rule for including a whacking great big spaceship as part of your 1500pt warhammer games.."
Damn, those Umbra Pattern Bolters are hot!. I wish I could upgrade my whole space marine army with them. Chainsaws FTW!
You never truly know someone...
Until you fight them.
Grabnutz: The Storm Raven did it first. Stupid that a vehicle like it is only limited to BA. Notice that this one can't be used by BA, either. The only real difference between the two is that the Caestus has heavier armor, fewer weapons, more speed, no PotMS, and greater transport capacity for terminators. Oh, and it has a slightly more appropriate point cost.
As for the skimmer thing: just count it as a VTOL flyer in Apoc games, like the Valkyrie.
And please, the use of a boarding craft for ground actions isn't on the level of landing a battle barge on the enemy. As for including it in 1500 pts games, see the Damocles Command Rhino.

Forgeworld seems to have a thing for redoing older models. First was the Plaguemarines if I remember.
Considering the description for the Caestus says it was built for both space and ground use, not space use and somebody decided to fly it into a tank at random, I can't understand the hate. Or the comments about little wings... look at the landspeeder. That thing barely even HAS wings.

The Caestus is just wrong in the rules. 5+ Invulnerable against attacks on the front, including shitload of armour and teh ability of moving 36", it means a possible S15 attack upon a vehicle, got to roll 2D6 and pick higher for AP AND +1 to the damage rolls? NO, just NO.
Oh and don't mention that Magna Melta. Suddenly Bane Wolf is a lot more fairer.
Until you realise that all stats except armor are limited to 10. This includes the strength for ramming attacks. Makes a ram from this a S10 AP1 ordnance weapon.
1 point of Strength more than FW Manticore missiles (R300" S9 AP1 Ordnance 1, 7" blast) and 12% of the range, and no one complains about those.
If you give this thing Frag Assault Launchers, it's 45 pts more than a Storm Raven, with 1 5" blast multi-melta and a ram as attacks. That's nothing compared to a Storm Raven's TL plasma cannon and TL multi-melta. Give the SR a pair of Hurricane Bolters, and it still costs fewer points. On top of that, the SR can move flat out and still shoot one of its guns using PotMS.
The one saving grace the Caestus has is that it's fast and hard to kill, making it an exceptional delivery platform for terminators. The rules perfectly reflect the fluff.
And what does the Bane Wolf have to do with this?

Holy shit, this made me laugh so damn hard."Battlebarges are mainly used as space marine strike cruisers in orbital combat, but they found that landing the mothafuckers on the enemy on the ground was also very effective, here are the rule for including a whacking great big spaceship as part of your 1500pt warhammer games..
God, I love that Chinork Warcopta so much.

And Ramming won't miss except against Skimmers.
Oh and you don't know about the Bane Wolf? Its Melta Cannon, even with stats like those, are still getting complains. Now compare.
Mmm, FW seems to be moving in on the older mk armour market to stop other studios like chapterhouse/maximini taking their business. Theres also mk 5 and another mark of armour on the way, as reported on BoLS

BrianGeneral: The Bane Wolf is the one with the Chemical Cannon. You're thinking of the Devil Dog. I've never read a complaint about it, myself. Most people's opinions on it are that it's useless compared to the other anti-vehicle FA selection available: the Vendetta (which does get complaints).
Maybe you're mistaking complaints about the marine-killing Bane Wolf for complaints about the Devil Dog?
In any case, people bitch about anything. Just because there are complaints doesn't make something overpowered.
I'm not sure what you're saying about Manticores. The statline I posted is from the IA1 pdf update, made after the IG codex was released. In that update, the Manticore has 3 missile options: the ones with that statline (Manticore Missiles, 15pts cheaper), the IG codex's missiles (Storm Eagle Missiles), and AA missiles. This has absolutely nothing to do with 4th ed (especially considering IA1 was printed in 3rd ed, and the Manticore Missiles had a different statline than the ones in the pdf update).
Anyway, back to the Caestus. So you're saying that +1S, no blast, a good chance of damage when used, and a guaranteed hit with 12% the range makes a weapon go from "meh" to "OMGWTF OVERPOWERED". That right?
Note: To inflict a S10 hit, the Caestus needs to move more than 18", foregoing any shooting on its part (or disembarking for its passengers). In addition, if used on an AV10 vehicle, it will suffer a S6 hit for doing so (and let's face it, you don't use this attack against AV10 vehicles). If moving 36", it will suffer a S10 hit against absolutely any target. Quite a risk. I wouldn't count on a 5+ save helping the Caestus any more than I would count on it helping a guardsman hit by a Frag Missile.
Just out of curiosity, what do you think about the Storm Raven's rules?

In addition to the MkIII Iron Armour, FW are releasing MkIV Maximus armour, and some cool looking Umbra Bolters with box mags, perfect for sternguard! Think Ill be getting a set of the bolters!
Thank god tomorrows my birthday...I'll probably splurge like I did last year and get something new from them...something...
Me thinks that armour would look good on the chaosy ones in me army...
Happy birthday to me!
(And Society: Happy birthday to you to)
"Ragnar did not want to be inscribed in the annals of the
Chapter as the man who lost the Spear of Russ
and then killed himself by banging into a rock."
That MK IV Maximus Armour... is actually tempting me to start collecting Space Marines... if anything, just so that I can paint it.
I'm thinking of stealing some bits from Red Scorpions Veteran Squad (the sergeant, in particular), and a nice little squad to paint.
I love the Mrk 3 and 4 armours, cant wait to get a hold of them too. GO Blood Ravens!
Whoever Loves, go to Hell. I want to break Venus' ribs with a club and deform her hips. If she can break me tender heart, why can't i hit her over the head?

I removed that post, Frank the Tank, because the link in there had some pretty terrible language. What you link to still has the same rules as your posts, and there are words in there (one in particular) that many people do find offensive.
Umbra bolters: chainsaw bayonets! About time 40K had its own versions of them! Gotta pick me up a box of them, and some MkIV Marines, too.
Look at the bright side, kid - you get to keep all the money.
Chaos Terminators have had chainsaw bayonettes on their combi bolters for well over a decade :P Bout time the Loyalists caught up...

Some new stuff up today.
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff
Including the Phobos Bolter.
Interesting, so theyve gone through and released MkII - VI. Very happy, but at £50 for a unit of 10 (inc bolters...), I may only buy bits.
Decisions: Do an awesome elite army entirely wearing armour of a single older mark, or add bits..
Still, £20 to buys 5 guys and make a sternguard unit is pretty good.
The original plastic Space marines had chainsaw bayonets (I even have a couple of sprues of them I think).
Also, MkII and III armour - outstanding and I will purchase (and leave in their boxes with all the other boxes stacked in big piles of......boxes).

So, who is gonna be charging the FW booth on Sat in Baltimore?
<----- this guy...
They are awesome aren't they!
I SO tempted to get myself a bunch and finally get stuck in to my dream project. My Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons!

The Badab War IA9: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272682
Were that many older marks still in use by the forces involved? I'm also interested in what a SM siege army list would look like.
At least we know the Imperium wins this one.
That Red Scorpion honour guard looks great. Nice that the iconography isn't all over the place. Keeps the models useful for other chapters.
SPOILERS:
Huron get melta to the face and later returns as a poors man special character with power fist and a heavy flamer.
BAD END.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I got my MKII and MKIII armor on the FW line about 10 min before they ran out.. YAY!
Imperial Armour 9 models now available for pre-order. The Red Scorpions Librarian in particular looks awesome.
Now I'm just worried the Astral Claws have the same colour scheme as my marines. I wish they'd kept the old tiger stripe pattern. It looked unique.
OMFG LUGFT HURON CHAPTER MASTER OF THE ASTRAL CLAWS Looks Amazing xD

Ive just placed an order for 40 MkIIIs, 3 special weapon sets, 1 Ferox bolter kits and 3 Phobos bolter kits......I cant wait for this stuff to arrive.
600 points worth of BOOM and fooosh with a few freeeem thrown in
quite the investment Tave.
Tave, I DEMAND a WIP post when you start workin' on that!
Pwettypwease...
I like the new Imperial Armour vol.9 Book. I´m most certainly into buying it very soon.
But I need some help here as well.
Which one of the Imperial Armour Books is it that had a complete Red Scorpions Space Marine Army List in it? If there even was one of the books that had it, that is.
Tried to find out on the Forgeworld site, but can´t seem to figure it out.

@ 40k1Gamern - The Red Scorpions were prominent in The Siege of Vraks IA books, with color spreads and everything, specifically Vol. 6 & 7, but there weren't any army lists for them that I remember - just for the Krieg forces and the 3 Renegade IG variations. Maybe one of the older books, but I don't think so... (Don't recall anything out of Vols. 1 or 2 off the top of my head, and those'd be the most likely given the subject matter.)
I'm somewhat liking the Huron Luftg figure, but I don't know if I care for the facial expression that I can tell from the pictures on the FW site. I like the detail work on him, like the lion on the shoulderpad and such. I think I prefer the older Huron Blackheart figure, overall, aside from this being resin with cooler weaponry. I wonder if they're going to redo the gone-to-Chaos Huron? That would be a must-buy in my book!
Anybody notice the mention of Paul Bonner doing illustration for the IA 9 book? If that's the same Paul Bonner who did the (in my opinion) iconic Orky artwork from 'Ere We Go and Waaaargh Da Orks, then I may just need to get this book for the artwork's sake. (May have just shit my pants in surprise, truth be told.) Don't know if it'd be quite the same thing as the characterful Orks, though - he's still a helluva illustrator, on the other hand. Anyone able to clarify? Last I knew there was a "falling out" of sorts between him and GW way back when - it'd be cool if it were the same guy doing stuff for FW now.
At least I know there is nothing about Red Scorpions in vol. 1, 2 & 3. Vol.2 & 3 I already have. You say 6 & 7. What about 4 & 5? Anyone knows anything? Could there be An army list for them in Vol. 4 perhaps? Does anyone have vol.4 that can confirm or deconfirm it?

A new Space Marine Conversion Set is out now. Looks pretty good.

@Gamern, they do but dont in IA4. It has some background info and a force chart showing how many marines and such were on Anphellion. And they give you the rules for the Red Scorpion Tact. Squad, but no real army list.
IA5 focuses on the Dark Angels and DKoK.
In IA6, they do the same thing as IA4 in terms of what they show of the Red Scorpions (Just Tact. Squad rules)
And IA7 has nothing on the Red Scorpions in terms of rules.
Ok, thx for the info Lok. Too bad there is no army list for the Red Scorpions Space Marines. And I don´t think I´m in for buying IA 6 just of the rules for Tactical Squads. I will just have to use the Codex instead. IA 9 is a different matter though. That one and a few other items is already bagged.
AFAIK, Red scorps were only different in that their tactical squads were led by apothecaries, while the rest of the army was as normal. In that case, you only need the rules for the tac squad. Rules for comander Culln are available free on FW website![]()
Red Scorpions don't need an army list. They're very strict about adhering to the Codex Astartes, so are quite adequately represented by the standard marine codex. If you have the 4th ed one, they get a couple of traits (Purity Above All and Have Pride in your Colours), but those don't make much of a difference.

Just got the latest Forge World news letter, some good SM stuff including a Land Raider Achilles
Also known as "better Monolith".
Explanation: resistant to melta&lance, -1 to damage table.
With twin-linked multi-meltas AND a Thunderfire Cannon? Seriously? LOL...
Me - Dude! Don't eat that (habanero beef jerky), it's friggin' hot as f*ck!!!
Tim - Oh, it's not baaaaa...aaaaa....aaaa.....aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! It's like the devil p*ssed in my mouth!!!
Looks like it'll have to be part of my Avenging Sons Codex: Space Marines Apocalypse detachment if I get one since it can't be used by the Blood Angels or their successors.
Wow. Okay... sooo... you need at least a strength 9 to glance. Strength 10 to stand a chance to kill it.
As an Ork player, this scares the bujeesus out of me.
Not to mention the weapons on it make for a good orky barbecue ;______________;
Thankfully the Ork Mega/Meka Dreads have the rippa klaws which grant +1 to the damage chart, which kiiiinda cancels out that -1 damage chart shenanigans... assuming they can get up to it without dying to those meltas and all... >_>
