Pff sure I would buy it...they could make a full price-expansion that only contains a new CoH-Menue and I would buy it =D

CoH2 is what I really desire though...but nooo Relic announces a new DoW2 -Addon and DoW 3 instead-.-

COH2 would be awesome, but I think COH1 has enough expansions now.

No, yet I would still buy one just to support Relic with the hopes they get off their gluteus maximus and make a DoW 3 that plays just like a CoH 2 would, yet with close combat and rpg elements added in.

I do not get this whole DoW + DoW 2 = DoW 3, when DoW 2 should of been playing like CoH 2 from the start.

Per Relic DoW 2 was their 1st game designed from the ground up with SP as the foundation, contrasting all their past work that had MP being the foundation.

One would be silly to disagree with the notion that this longing for another CoH expansion stems from a strong desire for a different setting that plays just like CoH does.

So if Santa was real, my list would have DoW 3 first as described above, then a modern day setting with the official CoH 2 title down the long road of this lonely RTS genre.

or they can just go the CoH2MW route... it'll be like playing codmw2 from above

Relic announces a new DoW2 -Addon and DoW 3 instead-.-
That's not actually correct. They announced a new DoW2 addon, but the DoW3 thing was just one of the higher-ups at THQ running his mouth about something that's not even on the drawing board yet.

That said, it wouldn't matter if they went ahead and lined up several DoW games back-to-back... CoH has its own team, separate from the DoW series.

Hopefully, once CoHO has done what it's going to do then they'll announce CoH2. It seems a bit late in the game for them to announce another CoH expansion, given how long it's been since ToV and the mixed reviews that ToV got in general.

CoH *might* be done as a franchise, I think CoHO will be their direction for the CoH franchise *IF* it pans out.

I would gladly buy a "desert wars" expansion opposing the italian kingdom's forces as a new axe army against the free france forces as a new ally army in Libya (bir hakeim), Egypt (El alamein), maybe Tunisia, Algeria and why not Italy or the french Provence battlefields.

Would be awesome to get 2 new armies, new desert maps and maybe some new game modes...

  14. #14
As long as it's a "full" expansion, not just 9 short missions. Pacific theater would be nice, maybe African campaign. I do understand however that in order to keep the online game plausible new factions may not be introduced - in that case there is still a lot to cover - Ardennes, Sigfired Line. Too bad all the effort goes to COH Online

Pacific war is very unlikely since COH is based on european war engaging tanks divisions and infantry platoons with a light aerian support, whereas pacific wars are mostly aerian and naval battles with a few huge barely infantry only on the ground battles.

African campaigns are the only one respecting the COH's kind of gameplay... or eastern front but considering the mod it's very unlikely.

Moreover I do hope Relic have understood with TOV that releasing a cosmetic expansion without no new faction/army is a bad idea... anyway I do not think COH will be supported anymore but for servers maintenance.

Well I definately think they'll come out with something new in the future. They gotta make money for what they spend making the games. CoHO really won't make them alot of money, if any. If they make a new CoH game, alot of people will buy it.

With that said, I think a "CoH 2" would be the best idea. They could introduce the USMC, Japan, and maybe the Australians along with a Battle of the Bulge campaign with the US Army and the Germans.

Well, I don't catch your point of wishing for a COH 2 cause I don't see what they can bring more to the game to heavily change it thus announcing a true new game. For example, one of their idea for DOW3 is to use the awaited COHO's success and make a DOW2O...

COH graphisms are quite good for a RTS game still compared to any other game of the kind... the gameplay is still fun, fresh, challenging, quite enjoyable and the online community is also decent.

Could you state me one RTS which runs far better or at least is obviously superior to COH nowadays, or even officialy announced and going to be released in the next 2 years ?

I do think they could easily release a real good expansion and benefit of the still good hype of the game, probably sustained and maybe raised thanks to COHO, to get people buying the previous games thus do a quite worthy step.

I mean look at Blizzard's productions : people who wants to get the 3 SC2 games will officialy have to wait for 3 maybe 4 years...

Yet I sadly don't think Relic will release another COH's expansion but will focuse on COHO instead, cause their policy until now has always been to work on games and then to move onto another one, as far as I know they have never step back to rework or add something to a former game.

All they have to do is put out one more patch to renew everyones interest. Then go to work on COH2. I mean just one more stinking patch to fix things that 90% of people agree is broken; three shot cloak pak, Roo, USA engineer suppression, pio vet, just to name a few.

There is no way I would buy an expansion pack unless it fixed the problems we have now, however, just think of all the fresh new problems we would have. Remember what happened when OF came out.

What would COH2 even be? How can you even improve on such a great game? There are only a few I can think of; A collapsible task bar, slightly higher zoom, a two minute time out for each player.

I think that if we see a COH2 it will be about the time the Mars mission is launched

New expansion or new coh featuring Russians would give me happy smiles and thoughts of drinking vodka whilst riding a rainbow.

If CoHO would be the future of the CoH franchise, that'd be very sad indeed. I don't think it will though; I really can't see it take hold with the mature audience anywhere else than Asia.

CoH 2 I'd be all over though, as would my friends.

  21. #21
Most people don't want an expansion pack.. but in my opinion, I support the original coh development than any games thq is developing now, even they release a new menu, I would like to buy it.
But seems most of the people disagree, thats out of my expectation, now I understand thq stop developing original coh is correct, it can't make money anymore.

  22. #22
why would i spend money on an expansion when the current game is literally broken into little pieces because of the last expansion pack they made, and even though AMPLE chance has been provided to fix it. they just havent done anything and have almost ruined the entire COH experience.

CoH 2 I'd be all over though, as would my friends.
why you dont even know what it would be like?

COH1 fixed would be excellent, in its current state:/ i dont like it.

Pacific War would be feasible they would actually just have to make an actual new game, not just base if off the old one like an xpac. Maybe make part of the game naval/aerial strategy, for example instead basebuilding maybe you build ships/aircraft that create supply lines etc.

The way things are going now though, they seem deadset on doing the COHO thing and I doubt they will actually make a new game. Would be nice though.

Well I think the Pacific theater WOULD work, there were plenty of battles on land, not just sea and air. They could introduce alot of new features with a Pacific theater.

Well personally I believe a modern warfare RTS finally done right would be a perfect CoH 2. Seeing as Relic is more interested in making some more money with CoHO, which may/may not work out, we are stuck with unaltered CoH....

In the mean time, if time permits CoH:Modern Combat will probably come out before an exciting proper new CoH game: http://moderncombat.blacksandstudio.com/

    Here's a thought I've been having.
It began when people said that the Relic staff are working on CoHO, which is obviously a rumor, and false. Look at the "CoHO screenshots" on the CoHO website: they are CoH concept art from 2005. I loled.

    So, the question is:

    if
    Relic has dedicated CoH staff,
    and
CoHO has no new artwork or campaigns,
    and
Relic is a game production company relying heavily on story writing and artwork,
    then
what the hell have they been doing since ToV????
    Hoping CoH2 Ships With Worldbuilder....

CoHO is quite real. There are people, even members from this forum, playing the beta. Pull your head out the sand. CoHO is almost here, for good or bad.

Well dont plan on playing soon, after you spend 40 minutes getting the game there is a 10gb patch to download, lol. It started out around 1 mb/s but after awhile it got up to 20 and is still climbing a bit. Opps, just dropped back to 3, lol.

  30. #30
Has this piece of info been discussed yet? Taken form the COHO website write-up.

"p.s. vCOH, OF & TOV owners – We love you guys and haven’t forgotten about you! We’ve got something special planned in the very near future, so please be sure to dig out your CD keys and keep them handy..."

So, are we in for some COHO cross over to our world? Are the battle fronts of COHO going to cross over into our COH lines? Or, some new expansion... Either way if it's an expansion or new theatre of war I'd buy anything COH related as it's the only game on my machine that NEVER gets culled.

Bit of a killer them patches. I know it's guess work trying to think about all the issues users could have when the game is launched so patches are inevitable BUT quite a few of the fixes would be because of a lot of moaning people.

Relic would have to offer a free CD with the complete +patches game to those who own a official keys.

Following all them patches it would be a git to try and release a new expansion. So, CoH2 might be the only way to go... forget the previous game.

I'd like to see a full fledged CoH sequel to be honest. No more expansion packs. ToV showed us Relic was under pressure to rush out a product. Something was going on.

In regards to CoH:O, it's great for newcomers but it's pretty bad for veterans of the series. It's great that it's an MMORTS with persistent elements and rewards, but I probably won't get into it due to hero units and army buffs. This, along with the leveling up, means the game will have even more balance issues to worry about. So while it may play like CoH, it's not the same.

@hkwho1: Relic is the developer of the game, THQ is the publisher.

@grahamwookie: I'm pretty sure it just means bonus content for veterans. As in, they might get a head-start with free heroes or items or points or whatever.

CoH:O crossing over into the regular CoH world is very unlikely. Reason being, CoH:O uses an entirely different online system I believe. Plus the fact that CoH:O has a bunch of different stuff.

Unfortunately, there is going to be more focus on CoH:O, so that patch everyone is looking for in regular CoH will probably never come. I may be pessimistic, but it seems realistic too.

  32. #32
I'd like to see more units in CoH. I dont think we need another faction. But if we could have another tier in each faction would turn CoH in another game. Expansion packs can give long life to CoH.

And YES! I would buy any expansion lounched by Relic.

I dont think we need a Coh 2. Perhaps the graphics engine could be upgraded, but I wouldnt want to lose the 4 factions we already have. And considering what Relic did to DoW, and CoH Online, I would not want to lose the game mechanics either.

I reckon that Relic will eventually dump CoH though. The servers are there for the "foreseeable future". The future (like war) is unforeseeable. It sounds to me like they are trying to tempt people across. I guess time will tell...

I think you could go for a Pacific & Eastern Front route, with the Japanese and Russians as the new units. Make it a big release, two full campaigns, full price title. That way you have 3 axis and 3 allied sides. It may be a bitch to balance that though. Perhaps the Russians can have lots of low quality troops and super tanks... and the Japanese troops that cant be suppressed.

A Pacific campaign could be quite interesting, by having a few infantry only maps? Russian maps with only tanks?

I guess even if they *only* release something like Tales of Valour, I will still buy it though. A couple more Stonewall type maps would be great.

  34. #34
New Add-On for my most favorite strategy game of all time? Hell yeah!

An abomination like ToV was? Nope! Thanks, but no thanks!

I pulled about a good two years of fun out of CoH and CoH:OF .. ToV only features maybe added 3-4 hours on top of that, which was extremely weak.

  35. #35
only if it adds a decent side like the italians or russians

Medieval Real Time, Mount and Blade style Historical Combat.

  36. #36
I would easily without thinking click the 'Buy now' button. Anything Company of Heroes related/game will be of good quality. I liked ToV and it's Tiger mission. Still I replay the missions like crazy and thats how many years on...

I'm in two minds about CoHO because I love offline play and campaigns BUT i will make it online soon. Training ;-)

Love Relic. Love the genre. Love the CoH World

Just in case anyone hasn't played CoHO yet, it's clear that they're going to roll the CoH:OF and ToV content into CoHO. Existing owners will likely get all that content for free, and if you don't own OF or ToV you will probably be able to purchase that content in one large chunk, or en masse using microtransactions.

It's all part of THQ's new business model.

  38. #38
OK, ill do it. Get online and give it ago. Now, is this CoHO available in New Zealand, and without translating Chinese?

Would i buy new expansion for the best game ever ? HELL YEA !!
But what i would really like is full COH2 say Eastern Front with the same gameplay style but improved graphics new factions ect and Africa Korps expansion later on maybe.
Other thing i would love to see is DOW which plays like COH but i guess that's too good to be true .

  42. #42
I've been waiting a really long time for COH 2 or a proper expansion. TOV is not counted.

I wish Relic will stop playing with DOW 2 and do a COH 2 intead.

Would I buy a CoH expansion? Maybe, if it had a LOT of new content. It would be better to make a full sequel though.

[EDIT] wow, it's been a while since I actually posted!

  44. #44
yes i ll buy it of course.

    But priorities are different..

    1. new patch for current CoH with anticheat
    2. datadisk with Russian faction
    3. CoH2

Patch is number one! I want to stay with CoH. I dont like CoHO

  45. #45
Id like to see them add in some more stuff...like the Maus, an official Soviet faction, the Japanese...maybe some more campaigns.

But I wouldnt buy it until Relic removes that stat tracking garbage from offline play (skirmish), or at the very least not count quit games as losses if your not playing against an allied opponant. I've played too many mods (Eastern Front included) that have problems that either make the mod unplayable or unenjoyable (due to anything from inexcusably poor spelling/grammar, Fatal Scar errors, to blatantly cheating AI). Yet when i quit a 1v1 skirmish game against Ai on one of the mods, it counts the games as losses. Its not a freaking loss...I quit the game two seconds in because of a Fatal Scar error because someone didn't code a new infantry unit right. A loss isnt a loss unless you have no buildings and 15 enemy tanks where your base used to be. It used to be that mods shut stat tracking off, but now for some reason (a new patch I suppose) they count (in the case of Eastern Front, scores go towards the American faction...no clue why).

If they dont want to get rid of it then fine, at least give players the ability to delete their primary profile OR the ability to turn stat tracking off via the option menu. Honestly Id rather have a pile of DRM in my game then this freaking stat tripe.

  46. #46
I still think CoH needs to fix the drophacking. I mean DoW2 lacks it, and so does many other succesful multiplayer games (SC2, HoN, etc...).
And a small final balance patch would be needed, and that itself would revive the game completely.

No more expansions! Jeeze, this game is 4 years old! They should be working on a Sequel, not on this microtransaction-crap. I finally quit this game, after 4 (wonderful) years. Seeing this franchise going this way is sad, cause COH was a blast, best RTS I ever played. I just cannot loose my hope on a (even better) Sequel...

  48. #48
All this game would need is really small balance patch.

However a full content expansion with 2 new factions...I would like it.
No need to have CoH2. The engine is still perfect, and gameplay just needs a few tweaks.

  49. #49
i would buy either. coh expansion or coh 2.. i would like to see something with Africa or eastern front.
so yeah i would. i can mod and fix gameplay so if they dont do it i will.

some more units would be good too. stuff like AA, AT, and howitzer half tracks. m12 or m40 155mm mobile arty. sherman m4a3e8 (easy eight), m24 chaffe light tank. m22 locust airborne tanks, wilis jeep w/ rocket multiple rocket launcher. m1919 LMG squads. any of these would be cool additions, and would get an instant buy from me.
