    alright guys, if nobody mind, I'd like to get a few ideas on how you can beat Eldar with Necrons, in a relatively short time. the thing is that I wanted to test the necron campaign on hard, and the Eldar start on the same planet. I quickly realised that my normal way of warfare didn't work with the crons (anti-infantri in quick, make sure the enemy won't expand, and then finish them off with anti-building troops when available). it took me over 40 min to win the first map. I didn't stand a chance against them until I manage to get a monolith. but even after that, it still took me one doomsday and one aneonic orb to win.

    oh, and I play the normal mod, not X1 or X2 (I think they were called).

    Um I am sorry to interupt but apocalypse developers need some tools.

    1) A Bone model button.
    -Something that would allow a specific race armour type bone set to be merged into the mesh, within the boundaries of the object with x distance from the surface of the mesh components.

    2) Generate markers Button.
    -Something that would take the name of the object and reference the base set of meshes and apply markers relative to the position of the mesh.
    Meaning everything could get synckill, syncdeaths much easier.

    3) A build skin button in the DOW tools.
    -I think the skin could of been tested for and auto built to envelope the mesh, just enough to cover the conponents within a radius of the bones. Using race based evnvelope architectue that could of been specified in the dow tools.
    A test for the weapons labels could be applied also and having the envelope of the weapons imported for the races.

    4) An animate model button.
    -I am also surprised max was not set to merge animation sets with the original ref saving it as its type in the animations folder. Deleting the inverted mesh/bones after hiding the marker.
    Allowing us to set an animation set dependant on race and additioning any extra animations in the animation folder that did not overlap the base set. A simple animate button could of been used in the DOW tools to allow for this to be done automatically then have it be able to be tweaked by the developer for consistency.

    5) One thing that did surprise me about the max warhammer model exporter is that it doesnt load up an array of the objects that fail and the type of failure. and assert the array into parsing the object one at a time with the automatic fix for the error. I.e.
    =4 boning for the more then 4 bones.
    =cap holes/smooth with old surface for the vetex issue.
    Textures that fail could be opened and saved as a TGA as I am sure Max can do that, or atleast open the tex up as a background and then save/eport it as a compliant TGA.
    I dont know if there is any others, as I havent come across them yet.

    If the DOw tools had these options I am quite sure the development phase would be easier. Could it be scripted through max. I cannot see why not. And do you know of anyone that could do it? As it would be the biggest help to us modders of models. Also allowing a lot of other people to create animated in game model and increase the base of models in DOW.

    With these tools you could almost develop any mesh into a game model that was animated depnding on its target race. In an automated fashion. Only requiring human intervention for the tweaking / personalizing of the animated sequences.

    I myself could of used these tools. and it would make every newbies life in developent so much easier.
    Being able to reduce the total amount of time online searching for tutorials and allowing for faster modding of models.

    Just need to find a maxscript fiend Now.
    And there are going to be models it is no good for. But with most of the models I have done it would be superb in their develpment as most of them are able to be processed that way, and there are a lot of other models I havent mesh yet that would benefit from that sort of development tool.

    Is there any part of the modeling phase I have missed within max?
    Besides creating the base mesh.

    I would be able to produce a thousand fully animated model to be done in OE easily within the year. Oh and getting them in game I have already mentioned several ways to increase the model count for all races. Without new buildings. With up to 144 models being able to be built out of each building. If not more using the Codex Evolutions interface.

    While you are at it I could use half a dozen good females. Not for that either. But for the voices of the sisters. I have the script sets ready, just need females to record it for apocalypse. Failing that a few males who are willing to try something painful to change their voices to be more like female voices?

    @Rytlock: I never play the campaign on hard, since it's well too hard! xD but for me the rushing normally works... I simply send my lord as soon as possible with some warriors in their base, also build some obelisks a summoning core and a few generators, then send as many flayed onces in their base as possible! xD always works for me, though it might not work on hard since your hp gets lower and theirs get higher!

    @Tyrantarmy6: rushing only works occatinally. on the first map, rushing was out of the question. tried it, and got my ass handed to me by guardians and dire avengers... I did however get some relatively good results on the second map though. I lost many necron warriors, but I did get the sneaky little bastards after a while. although I didn't have to advance further than phase 3 to win, compared to the other races I've played, more than 30 min to take a map is just disgracefull... even on hard.

    and while I'm at it, could anyone give me ideas on how to beat DE with chaos in a quick way? it seems nigh impossible to even win the first map against those hedonist space elfs...

    hmm... wonder why I find Eldar so hard to fight?

    @Rytlock well when i play as chaos in campaign i dont attack them i build up some marines and let them attack me until i get tanks then i attack works everytime for me on normal so you might try that............

    Mr. Rytlock, I gave the ai Eldar and Dark Eldar some advantage. They'd capture more strategic points and build more plasma generators more than all other races, to keep up with their weaknesses. I must warn you, devise a military plan and you are DEAD! Ya need to focus full power on resources and be utterly speedy by the word of the Cylarne!

    I request that Apoclaypse units, titans and upgrades please not require a critical location. There are a lot of maps that simply dont have a critical location, taking away a tier of the game, a very important and interesting one at that. I ask this because theres a lot of maps that dont have crit locations and I play a lot of games where a large number of units get fielded but I end up in a stalemate (with friends or A.I) where games could last up to an hour or more and need a game ender such as the ultimate super weapon. I understand if it requiring the crit location is necessery but this is simply my humble request. It would be nice to see the Apocalypse weapons and units more commonly present especially in long games.

    I agree as this bothered me also many times before. Maybe it's possible to add a win condition which removes the resctriction for the higher tiers completely so you won't not ANY different location to hold anymore and can build Relic units without Relics and Apocalpyse without strategical location? If it's not possible via win condition (which i doubt) then there could be another XP then, named like "XP4 Total Apocalypse" which brings REAL sickness to lategame with no need to hold relics and build at free will haha xD.

    I agree with both of you. I want to be able to use the superweapon to nuke ALL the races strongholds in the campign, not just the IG's which, as far as I can see, is the only stronghold with both a relic and a critical location. I've said it before and I will say it again: one of these days, I'd love to nuke the living shit out of the tau moon base.

    For crying out loud! I'll make ALL maps compatible with Critical Locations. Ya happy?

    The point of this critical location requirement was to...
    1. make them actually useful other than Take and Hold Victories.
    2. Makes the Apocalypse Tier harder to get.
    3. The difficulty to maintain the requirements would be hard, it's NOT supposed to be easy with "just a relic".
    4. It's Krronus's rules, so good luck arguing over him.

    @Cosmocrat: Where were you on Skype today?

    @All: The XV-9 Hazard Suit is now in the Apocalypse mods and is per-fected with awesome! I corrected some of Monkey's code bugs but anyways, thanks goes all out to COC 3 (Cosmocrat and Monkey) for their dedicated work and heart and soul being put within this unit.

    The Daemons race tier I is done! AI strategies was updated from version 3.0 to 3.2 all thanks to the Dawn of Skirmish ai mod.

    Problem is, making cirtical locations more useful is a good thing but it should not based around dependency on tech imo because as stated, a large number of maps simply dont have a critical location. Making it impossible to use all tiers which is a great shame. Also relics are not always easy, sometimes their in strategic locations, hell some maps have less relics than crit locations (rare) but more maps have no crit locations at all. As others have said, maybe it can be an optional win condition thingie.

    Edit: Nice to hear about the Suit, love the look of it. How is the brass scorpion coming along?

    That's been done for a while now, and VERY cool. I did add that huge explosion by the way, and it was recently balanced out because of the 4 support cap. But totally worth the cap because of its toughness and its ability to take down titans with ease.

    I would assume one, since Titans themselves are fairly rare. The brass scorpion on the games workshop review page was said to be able to "chop through Titans legs" with its claws, and a major element of its use on the tabletop is the fact it explodes when it dies, so that even if its take out, it ruins your opponents battle line or something like that.

    I think having to play on specific maps like that would be a shame, because the Apocalypse, Titans and superweapons are a large and incredibly fun part of the mod reducing the amount of maps you would be playing on. I like the idea where you can choose if the requirement is present or not. If you dont want an apocalypse, you can choose not to have one already on maps if you dont want it but the opposite cannot be true.

    Hehe I am glad, I am thankful for that because Thermal plasma generators are probably even rarer. Excellent.

    Sure brother Cylarne!Good to see if all maps had more critical locations.I agree with brother Cylarne,remove critical locations or relics required is bad ideas Apocalyse!I think you are playing around with AI too much and don't know how big deal the problem is when super weapons is free and used by real player.You'll die unhappy.The case is you must use your forces to take the points and prevent enemy to do the same thing to restricted their relic units or super weapons.That is real strategy game.If those locations is no more needed,the only thing to concern about is who reached the top first then unleash the hell on each other.Totally un-strategy any more.

    Their not free, their final research options and cost a huge amount if you total up all the tier research and I only wanted Critical locations to be amended due to the lack of them on some maps. So you misunderstand if you belive i wanted it removed because its too hard to get a critical location if there is one on the map, thats fine. I like access to all the mods content every time I play thats all, not to have to play a specific map.

    Ive been trying to defeat insane A.I, I can only manage it on Apocalypse mode but I have been trying to learn Chaos (my favourite side in case you did not guess ) yet I get stomped against any A.I tougher than standard, even the standard beats me sometimes. What tips are there in getting quicker and knowing exactly what to use? so far I am trying to learn by fighting against insane Chaos A.i to see what it does. It seems to waste a lot of time on building things it does not even use like Rhino transports yet it still manages to have huge amounts of resources while I struggle. I guess its because it can multitask e.g. using several squads to capture points, while building units, while fighting etc. I assume a player who masters some kind of speed can almost match it. probably using hot keys if ime right?

    Also I dont suppose the insane A.I gets any bonuses such as increased build speed or damage?


    Edit: Ok just attempted it again against an insane Chaos A.I (I was Chaos as well), and I did so much better. I had more resources and got to the point where I had 2 land raiders, the GUO and an obliterator squad and I was pushing them back a bit while I researched Tier 4/5 but then I got a "Fatal A.I execution error", but either way I felt I was doing much better. More tips would be useful though.

    btw, the best way is to rush the enemy WHILE stabilizing your economy. One word, HOTKEYS! they make everything easier. Which is why them being bugged bugs me

    I cannot even make an online account it seems. First it would keep saying the passworld is incorrect when I tried to make the profile, so when i used a different email it worked but then told me it could not authentasize my dvd (I use the real game, no pirate), maybe I should deactivate the mod or something while I make my account?

    Hi Profman Beta testers, are you paying attention? Find and locate that Fatal SCAR error please?

    @Apocalypse: Make sure you take a screenshot of the fatal SCAR error within the command prompt next time please. That would be VERY helpful.

    something like that fit for the apocalypse mod..

    well, obvious reason (the only reason I can think of) is that someone else already installed the game with you CD-key...
    Possibly, I may have at some point gone online with the game on another system before, maybe thats why its logged onto that system and was not uninstalled or something. I use 100% real discs, e.g. no pirate software so its certainly not a fake disc I am using. Infact my soulstorm copy I bought recently just to play this mod.

    I will attempt different emails or something. Not sure who else would use the disc and play online since I dont lend discs to friends although I have more than one machine, but I dont recall going online with it within memory.

    @Apocalypse: Make sure you take a screenshot of the fatal SCAR error within the command prompt next time please. That would be VERY helpful
    Certainly mate.

    Edit: thinking back, the A.I had just started summoning a Great unclean one, I wonder if the A.I, or just the insane chaos A.I did not know how to use it? or control it, hence why it crashed.

    Disk!That's your problem,Apocalypse!Make sure you bought legal version of SS with your own Cd-key(unique).If not I think the shop where you bought the game sold a copy of the same disk with the same cd-key as your to many other people.If that so,can't help!

    Either Amazon.co.uk sold me a bad disk/cd-key or theres a registry problem (looked at that, cant find it). Not much I can do if it was sold to me badly, not worth doing much about just to play online since I plan LAN more often.
