Issue with walls is, first Tau can fly over them and so can eldar. Space marines can teleport to an extent and jetpack, IG can deepstrike tank over them but that's it. Dark Eldar fly over. Necrons summon to monolith that teleports over. Sisters of battle......there kinda most effected they'd have to walk majority around or destroy it. Orks too.
It's just not something I'd put into "Skirmish" gameplay. If it was an attack and defend style gameplay sure it would be good there.
Besides OMG how the AI will abuse this lol.

ALSO A QUESTION TO YOU ALL! WHAT DO YOU THINK OF "MERCENARIES UNITS"?
Some units that can be hired for large amounts of requisition but built instantly and starting off with high level gear and stats who can appear at a time of great need. For instance Tau would give a Kroot Merc squad (very common in 40k universe). Orc's give Loota Mercs (Orc mercs are common). Imperial guard mercs are easily possible in the form of...rough riders or...catachans. Eldar as young warriors out to prove themselves away form the craftworld (not sure what units but it would be possible for them to do such a thing). Dark Eldar out to do nothing more than kill! (very easy to see them doing this) Now the hard end of the stick. Necrons are seamingly impossible lol, maybe a malfunction in their robotic hearts releasing the spirits of the Necrontyr trapped inside and finding what they were deciding to go out as mercs for what else can the do. Chaos......now idk about them cause they could easily do it but like.......there crazy xD. Maybe a trial for Chaos recruits.....to collect the souls/hearts/whatever of so many victims and return to the chaos. Space marines could be similar but on a more honourable level (althoguh SM working with these guys......) maybe a disgraced captain trying to reclaim his honour? And last but not least Sisters of Battle, their chapter all but destroyed a single squad of sisters fight the lonely battle for their chapter to purge the heretics.
I think it would be great to incorporate a little story to the game's skirmishes lol Have unique squads with names and small backstories xD
@Pursanator: That's a very good point for the walls. Haven't really thought about that. For my fun though, I might as well create walls for testing purposes and results. See what happens then I'll decide if it is OFFICIALLY a good idea or not.
I might consider doing mercenaries in 1.63.

Thats a good idea, but not normal sized walls they'd have to be like chest high otherwise the cover bonus is technically 100% xDEDIT: Maybe I can make walls give cover bonuses?
Also how about trenches or "sandbags" as cover (sandbags is just a loos term for something to provide a little protection.)
Think Company of heroes! barbwire, sandbags, trenches, tank traps...i like tank traps xD (could be some future tank trap that also stops tanks flying over? with magnets or something idk xD)
ALSO i think this should include more traps, i mentioned the Snare Mines before but det packs and c4 sorta things to plant in a huge attack and set off when enemy walk past, sabotaging points that explode when someone tries to capture them, that sorta thing to bring out the true face of war
Is there anyway to do garrisonable buildings that could be scattered around the map? Or make bunkers that can be garrisoned and built?

yes there is one of the mods did it i don't remember which one but they have done it.
also they made it so the orks could build the walls and gates that you see in DOW without any expansions
i wish there was a way to make it so you could turn buildings.

Whats the health of these wall segements and how big are they, can you get a screenshot?
There is one wall facing 0* and one facing 45* but not one facing 90*. Also the orientation code does not solve the problem as it glitches the structure's placement from one position to the next which is strange and annoying.
Oh, you can upgrade walls... in time. You can repair them by one simple click... in time. Quick to build and cheap. Requires tier II though as it makes sense because of their size. Their health starts at 500 and can be upgraded like turrets.

if you have ever seen a map that uses the ork wall pieces from the map editor they are that big
the health was somewhere around 5-6 k health don't know what armor it had but it did give cover bonuses
the first thing i do with any mod no matter how good is change it so i can get ll guys with heavy weapons and more artillery tanks.
also are the tau going to have weapon upgrades for their fire warriors or no????

So you could contact him about it seeing as he is still activehello neilmarines, i've done a lot of this stuff in my own mod including walls, tanktraps, razorwire, etc and it can be made to "work" with some effort so don't get discouraged, i'd offer to help but im currently lost in the warp so to speak but i can offer the following helpfull bit of info, there's a block_line_of_sight_ext thats from one of the older versions of the game and through the use of that and some simple ability coding for my buildings ive been able to get them to work such that enemies cannot shoot "in" through walls but for better or for worse one can shoot "out" through ones own walls, pm me if you like and i'll try to elaborate but i have no idea when this warpdoom im currently trapped in will abate next, so please be patient RE: response times

Ok , any chance of adding chaos demons as a faction ? And maybe you guys can talk to the Space wolves mod thier work is pretty solid and might add a new flavour to marines (to my opnion only the SW and BT have the righ to be a standalone Sm force outside the codex)
Also i just mean having new races adding into actual mod instead of having only for XP2 , or will you just merge the whole 3 mods into one later on ?

I would like to see the Chaos Daemons, as well. Especially if the Steel Legion aren't in. If the Steel Legion do get the okay, and there's a Chaos Daemons race, then it would be total awesomeness. I'm all for adding as many new races as it makes sense to add.

I love the idea. It will help people like me defend their bases better (I, for one, happen to suck at the game.) Maybe make it a feature that can be turned off and on like win conditions? I found a blind spot in the S.M. and I.G. orbital nuke superweapon.It seems like you could survive the blast by going to the centre where the light glows before exploding.Only singular units could survive though.Boreale and G.Vance Stubbs survived it with full health.Ill post pics later.

Also I didn't like the idea of walls at first but if they can be done with a Toggle In win conditions that would be great. MAYBE they should be turned off for AI? Make the win condition called Defense where you are only one able to build it but it builds really quick so you can defend the area? Just a thought
First of all, that's a no no. XP2 IS exactly the actual mod but just adds new races. XP2 is a like a heart of three separate mods. Actual, Tyranids, Inquisition. Secondly, some people may not want to play with 11 races all the time and maybe the main ones.Also i just mean having new races adding into actual mod instead of having only for XP2 , or will you just merge the whole 3 mods into one later on ?

I've found a possible Tau Titan, it is a fan made model, but it still looks Tau-ish:

^Manta is like the only thing i can think of (officially made) that could be called a titan. The walker is good i admit, in my opinion though seems a bit.....dare i say too robotic if you know what i mean. I mean look at tau's official stuff then look at that and. Idk personally i think it looks outta place. It is good though You know like.......we could have a competition for Tau Titan? Best design gets put in hehe
Of course only if its going to happen. I mean all the other races have "titans" Tau's a new race so not much in that area.
EDIT: @Dante - Really any chapter could make an entirely new faction lol. Dark Angels are completely different even there basic models. Same with alot of them xD TBH its about who cares about who the most lol for instance i LOVE black templars and thats about it xD
Anyway theres no point having an entirely new race for a different Chapter when you can just add the unique units from each chapter in the general SM. Space Marines can be classes as a "Space Marine Crusade" therefore they have as many chapter as they want lol

I might actrually make the whole Daemon race myself if it is not in progress. The models are present and the stats are ingame ready. But all we need is a new commander, builder unit, secondary commander, and structures. It'll be fun.

With the walls, there are going to be slight changes. But I share it not here, I want to surprise you all with 1.62.5. But I can say that the Fortress win condition will affect them.
