Heh, well N E ways, if you are someone who can micromagage under mp lag, assult frigs can beat ions in a non-ms battle. It just takes time, which is why it doesn't work when it is a ms battle, 'cuz you don't have the time.

yeah i noticed AF are great at taking out research too. they kill it off faster than other units, they have this quaddamage bonus with research ships. hardly anyone knows this, but its true. i use that knowledge every game.

All lameness aside, a group of unsupported AFs can overwhelm a similarly sized group of ion frigs IF you bother to micromanage the AFs and keep them moving around the ion frigs so that they can't bring their ion cannons to bear for the full burn duration. Meanwhile the AFs are pounding away with their mass drivers.

a simple f10 would do the trick. no way for a cap ship to micro its way out of being sphered.

Actually it all depends on the speed difference between the 2 ships. If it is a large enough difference then the IFs will not be able to get in a good enough sphere for it to work. I do not know the speeds off hand so I can't say whether or not it works, can anyone post the speeds for them?
