Retribution - Pre-order packs and special editions

    Hey guys

So it is officially ok for me to talk about the different Retribution packs we have coming out without fearing the wrath of the THQ Inquisition. Below is a list of the editions and where you can get them from.

On top of this, post launch we will be releasing all of the content from the race packs / collector's edition on Steam for users to buy for a nominal fee. So you could for example buy an Ork pack and then purchase the items for the Space Marines post ship. If you want everything you're probably better off buying the collector's edition though

    Go forth and pre-order

    HIRM EDIT:
UK Collector's edition preorders are also constantly updated on the official THQ website located here.

Well... I know which one I'm having...

Ah, so no TF2 hat... :'(

Seriously though, this is looking pretty bloody fantastic. Buying via steam is quicker and more convenient... but I'm very tempted for that Collector's edition.

  5. #5
It would be good if that was on steam as well...

I'm having that CE as soon as Play.com lists it.
Look at the bright side, kid - you get to keep all the money.

  7. #7
So is the CE only available in the US and UK or what?

It will be available in most countries i just didn't know where it was being sold and how much for when i did the post. I'm going to collate that info / sources

  9. #9
Oh wow, if that pricing is accurate, currency exchange means buying these with USD is considerably cheaper for me, which means steam is in the lead for me, since I can purchase with USD. First going to see how much local retailers are selling it for, to compare prices...

Pricing will depend based on retailers. For example a lot of PC code with a £39.99 RRP gets sold for sub £30 by retail. Depends how agressive they decide to go.

We have to set a RRP but we legally can't enforce pricing.

Ah, point. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

The artist(s) for the collector's boxarts has a thing for putting the character's leg up on something. Notably, the Autarch has her foot on a Terminator's helmet. I can no longer condone buying the Eldar pack...

Eliphas looks like he just don't give no f*$%. That's an awesome pose.

Right now, I'd like to get the CE but don't want wait for shipping. Any of way of getting a cd-key via e-mail on launch and download and then get the physical copy in the mail later?

I wonder if my Polish retailer gram.pl will have the CE.

That said, I'm not that convinced to buing it, even at only $10 more. The SP stuff seems pretty IMBA (the Ork Boss Pole and Trophy Rack 2-in-1 seems like something that would outshine any other wargear for that slot, and I generally dislike like things like this).

    Haha, same 'issue' here, FooF.

I will definately get the Collectors Edition, and definately in a real box, but I don't want to wait for shipping either.

Tell me if you find a way!

I notice cards for all races in the CE but the imperial card is missing on the CE pictures

All I have to do now is to wait that my local retailer make CE preorders.

Thats not bad. SC2 retailed for £35 online, £40 retail. It's utterly insane how much money they got for that.

I bet my left buttock that it will be averaging around £20/25 below RRP, which is pretty damn good althings considered.

Makenshi - A UK retailer shipping the collectors will likely ship it to Brazil, if your willing to delay yourself past release day.

God damn just take my money. Also where are people seeing the details for the Tyranid pack? I don't see it on Steam. Also i'm shocked, the Autarch actually has a helmet and Eliphas's armor is different? "Take my money"

@Shuma: each race pack has a little "view more details" (or something) link next to it, the Tyranid one as well as the others.

Good thing that I pre-ordered the CE yesterday Especially because the price was 29,99€ at amazon.de and the normal version was the same price ^^

I really like the artwork of the race packs. Is there any chance we get them without the text as wallpapers?

Why does the THQ E-shop sell the CE for $59.99? There's no way I'm paying double...

Huh? The Collector Edition is listed as 40$ for me. Are you looking at the complete (i.e. all DoW 2 content ever) edition or something? Also, why are people waiting until the CE is on Steam? If the game uses Steamworks, it will be on Steam by definition, no matter where you buy it.

Outside of that, awesome. Moar developers should allow complete "get all exclusive preorders" stuff like this.

It was priced as 59.99 when i posted it, it's not priced as 39.99 like in the OP.

Why wouldn't we? The FC has always used a cape with the hammer, well in the campaign and in rank 60.

  41. #41
Actually in the original Dawn of War 2 campaign your FC didn't get a cape, only Angelos did in the last mission.
Which, is probably a spoiler, but if you are looking into playing the expansions you should have already finished the original, right?

Really? There's capes wargear in the files for the campaign.

  43. #43
Yes really, unless it's been changed since the original release, been a while since I played it.

  44. #44
So the non-preordered steam price for Ret is $29.99 and preordering a "race pack" just gets you some race specific campaign wargear, right?

I might have to go for the IG pack, or "Imperial 'stache" as I now think of it.

    that's... so... beautiful.
i don't know which one to buy
also, I don't really want to buy from Steam this time, because the box covers are so... beautiful and I want to keep them as hard cover.

Why ist always chaos that gets proper adornments, while most Sm units just look boringly plain ? (Beside the awesome axe ofc)

  47. #47
You could get the cape wargear through mods that gave you all the wargear but there was only one and it was for Chaos Rising from what I remember

Anyone else notice that that has slated Ret for March first or am I just slow on the uptake?

  48. #48
Ugh, why do companies continue to ignore the whole exchange rate thing when selling into the UK! I know Play.com et al will knock a bit of said RRP (I'm hoping for a list price of ~£20), but it'd be better if they knocked a bit of a properly converted UK price!

Any chance on the CE getting a digital version? Was somewhat willing to pay the extra $10 for all the packs even with limited interest in the campaign but the rather costly shipping options are pushing me towards Steam.

    i just noticed something weird.
it says Diomedes gets a helmet for preorder, but doesn't show it.
:/ i guess armor is same too? cause that armor looks waaay too boring for a preorder bonus armor
heck even the autarch gets a really cool looking helmet
and i dislike eliphas's preorder bonus armor... looks... weird

also, i made a decision not to buy a digital copy, because i really really really want a hard copy for retribution. any of the box covers looking deliciously awesome, maybe I won't be buying preorder this time...
