World of Tanks V - V for Vendetta

  1. The Studio Senior Member Dawn of War Senior Member  #1501
I have so much convertable EXP i might as well turn on crew training for all my tanks even if it's bugged.

EDIT: did some testing and crew exp training seems to be working fine. the crew that is marked gets 2x battle exp total. the rest just get 1x

The point of advance crew training is that all exp you would normally get for a battle for the tank goes to the crew. That is not happening. It's only ever going to the one crew member at a time.

  4. #1504
Yeah advance crew training is flawed in my opinion they did that shit on purpose to boost more people to get premium accounts. Specifically at higher tiers.
No qaurter back men, only forward or we will hold this line forever!!!

Isn't that what it's been advertised as doing ever since the feature came out?

Sorry for the lack of screenshot, i can take one of the actual gained xp though. This is what happens on the TestServer when you fire and 34/34 shots and almost killed the last enemy with the last shell (the 35th..)

I've listened to a lengthy interview with SerB, one of the game designers for WoT. It went through a lot of stuff but what was particularly interesting - the game engine. They wont use Unreal Engine, Frostbite or CryEngine cause this engines rely on calculations on the client-side, and WoT needs to keep calculations server-side, to prevent cheaters. They are making a new renderer for WoT client though, to make it more modern and optimized. Think multicore and better effects and lightning. They plan to release it this summer or autumn. Also a physics engine is in progress, but thats old news.

Still had this one pasted somewhere ^^. Thing is with the T110E5, next to that it looks extremely sexy, it fits my style completely; even more than the Jagdtiger and it's 128mm L/61 of doom.

And so my reaper combo begins.

Am I the only one who sees no point in the new IS-4. I mean, the ST-1 has pretty much the same hull, same gun (slightly slower RoF tho) and a much better turret that has US tank gun depression capabilities. That and the new 122 is quite silly if you ask me, especially on the IS-8 where you got that gun, then you get the IS-7 and it has more damage, lower RoF, less accuracy and pen :/

Also having a TD class gun on a heavy isn't nice, the JTiger has only its gun and some armor to go with it, now it's quite pointless if you take one of the new T9 Russian heavies since they get comparable pen and damage (not entirely but still a bit too close for comfort) and much better mobility to go with it.

That said the IS-8 is quite nice and fun, I think this is what the M103 should have been, it has enough armor to almost count as a heavy and plenty of mobility to almost count as a medium, not the piss poor combo the M103 has :/
    *puppies*

I like the new soviet heavies, but I have to agree that the tree and especially the gun selections don't make a lot of sense.

    IS2 > IS3 > IS8 > IS7

    KV3 > KV4 > ST1 > IS4

It seems like they ruined the logic of the IS series a bit, oh well. However this 122 M62-T2 is indeed a bit squishy. First it had 270mm pen and now 268mm. A nerf of 2mm, boo-hoo. Having more damage than the 120mm M58, and only 50 less than the 128mm L/55 and 130mm S-70, it makes the perfect hybrid between RoF, damage and huge penetration.

With this new gun being available on both the ST1 AND the IS8 as well as the IS4 at tier X, the 128mm L/55 is completely outgunned and lets face it, what DO the E75 and VK45 have what the IS8/ST1 do not? Armor? No, as that gun penetrates practically everything with ease.

Just as Jopax said, going from the 122mm M62-T2 to the 130mm S-70 is a bit weird and half a downgrade if you ask me. And if they keep adding more and more such high penetration guns to the heavy tanks, it will make the TDs even more useless than they are, unless they have 700+ damage (704, T95, T30). The JT already got company from the T110E5 and the M103 if you look at the type of gun they have. The T110E5 even shoots faster. The French also all have insanely high penetration values, and most of the autoloaders ruined the game. With all these high penetration guns available on the new tier IX and X heavies, armor is going to mean less and less, so there goes that advantage the E100, Maus, VK45B and E75 had. Every of these guns penetrates these tanks in the front anywhere but the upper plate.

I'm not surprised seeing new tanks being better than the older tanks. It is a trick WG uses to force you play. They will be nerfed eventually.

The World of IS is stronger than ever. But it is kinda lol since if you skip IS-8, you are forced to unlock top gun on IS-4 with free xp, since stock gun is unplayable on level 10. I want to get ST-I, russian tank with an american turret for the win!

Cortlendt: right now on tier IX the IS4 already has that immortal turret to behind with, and pretty much all the russian high tier turrets are tough nuts to crack and usually not penetratable at most angles.

Celéstial: I'm talking about the size of the turret, that is not typical for smaller Russian tanks. Yes, you re quite right, even front turret of KV-2 can be hard to pen, and KV-3, IS-3 and later IS series have turrets that are quite pointless to shoot at unless it is a backside. You can easily shoot at German turret's "cheeks", but this wont work with Russians. Though in close combat Russian turrets have many weakspots, like commander's cupolas. American T29(without ears)-34-32 turrets are quite impenetrable while face-hugging.

0.7.3 is out on Russian servers, so now IS-4 is on top and IS-7 is in the middle of the list

    I've sold KV-1 and T150 already, but kept KV-2 and KV-3.

Anything with KV in the name have turrets that aren't really that hard to pen. You just have to aim for the flattest area you can find that isn't part of the mantlet.

I think IS 1/2 are the only ones in the IS line that have easy to penetrate turrets.

Front turret of KV-2 has a large gun mantlet, which is often not penned by HT9, unless very close, dont shoot there. KV-3 top turret is a ricochet magnet. It is hard to find a flat spot on it. KV-5 turret is a box, but it has some armor so better aim perpendicular to it.

I'd prefer hitting the MG turret myself, though it might be situated a bit high on that huge thing.

Forums are full of whine about IS-8. Well, it is quite agile, but its armor is pathetic for its level. Most ppl would go with AMX50 120 for fast, damaging heavy tank, what is the point of IS-8? T34 had weak armor but its turret was not full of terrible holes. I'm gonna put optics on it, need to play to its stronger sides.

w=f*D*costheta where in thing that perpendicular to the displaceplament does no work. so vertical flat surface = shells do no work to pen it. Where slanting surfaces the shell needs to do work O_o and probably bounce.

Since it's available in the store again and I'm in the mood, should I buy the Type 59 just to troll kids people in pubs? I definitely don't need it since I already have a Lowe and a T34, but I'm in an SA kind of mood so...

I've been saying this to everyone, the Type 59 is just a bully tank.

You need to compare stats, it's basically a T-44 with worse overall stats except way better armor. If a tank can't penetrate your frontal you will kill it.
If it can penetrate your frontal it will try it's darnest to, and usually succeed at mauling you.

Basically means it can barely stand up to a lot of things Tier 8 and up, and some upgraded Tier 7s will have it sweating.

I myself posted a video of three Type 59s trying to kill me but were too afraid to push all at once, in this thread.

Type 59 is godly. It's one of my favourite tanks. The gun is the only downside, but the armour and (if you can) gold rounds turn it into a tiny ball of terror. The speed and turning means you can put irritating side shots into everything, getting a ton of damage and really raking it in. Great for freexp grinding that way.

Or like Afoxi said, trolling tanks that just cannot pen you. It's lulzy.
    Knife King of Doltland

I'm not surprised. Anything within three feet of you seems to end up full of knife shaped holes.

Type 59 speed and turning is so so. Also while circling you will get your sides exposed, and not enough speed to outrun anyone smart enough to turn with a hull. Rather face hug and hope their gun wont depress low enough.

Both of the IS-8 matches I've had so far were tier 10 matches(with 3-platooned IS4s) on the new Dragon's Ridge map, which looks nice but which I also consider a poor map to evaluate a tank on thanks to all the hilly terrain. Having said that, the IS-8 is pretty nice, it's pretty fast, nimble, and hits hard. I will also say that it's even more fragile than I anticipated though, my M103 seems bouncier than the IS-8. The lack of gun depression is also about as annoying as I expected, especially on this map, and while the top speed is high at 50 kph, the acceleration is such that it does take a little while for it to get past the mid 30s, though going downhill helps and if you do it will certainly keep that speed for a long time.

Overall, at this point it's probably not replacing my M103, but it's a nice wolfpacker/medium-hunter, and it's certainly not something I want chewing on my team's flanks.

One day premium is nice, made me quite a bit of money, also selling all those pesky new tanks (kept only the KV-1, it's fun and makes some money, the others are somewhat samey and annoying for some reason). Nearing the 2 million credits mark now, can't decide what to buy again. I tried both the Lorraine and the Panther 2 on the test server, both are nice and fun, but I really should buy the damn KT already, have it unlocked since last summer it just took a big backseat in priority since more important/interesting/fun stuff usually came along.

New IS-4 is fun suprisingly, not sure why, didn't enjoy the IS-4 as I did the IS-3, this one comes close.

Also something I discovered, a fully decked out IS-4 with a rammer/vents and extra rations (without BiA) reaches Jagdtiger rate of fire with its gun, something that both amuses and worries me since we now have a TD gun on a T10 heavy chassis, fun times.

Just noticed they changed the date on the day of premium, so I've missed out. Shame, would have been useful but hopefully I won't need it. The goal is to have a Panther before the sale ends - still have to go through the VK3002DB though.

I'm not claiming its turret in impenetrable, some people manage to pen my T34 turret now, or its just HE? But anyway, it all comes down to a player.

Yayers after much painful Tigergrind I have regained my sexy ass King Tiger.

Despite a shoftshell turrent, I am loving having real armour for once. Being able to angle and bounce lowe shots was glorious victory, can't wait to rock it up with the 105s. Yeeeeeah Germany fuck yeah.

  47. #1547
So what's up with the Panther 2?

It's pretty much identical as the P1 and I'm playing it the same way, why is it then that I do so horribly with it, the 75/l100 can't be that bad on T8 and the 88 isn't a long ways off (need the tracks, damn you WG and the 40 kgs I need to mount it without the tracks), so really, what the hell is with this tank that makes it such a painful expirience when the P1 was nothing but a joyride :S

Yea, I remember I didn't want the Panther to drop down a tier; I loved that glasscannon! Panther II is epic though, one of my favorite tanks to drive still.

I think tier 8 panther may have been my personal favorite.. Just the way it handled as a mobile sniper and get ammo damage <3. Also that was when 8.8cm gun had same rof as tiger I's
